Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

What should I post here?

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version of Deezer :floppy_disk:

IDK if this is a common issue, but it is for me. When using Deezer desktop app (latest at this moment) I have random quality drops from HiFi all the way down to 128. It has nothing to do with my network connection, which is stable 1Gbps. It just happens and I have no option to revert back to HiFi, because the only option available is 128. This is weird and a little concerning. Can you advise what the root cause may be?

It happens to me too on macOS, especially after waking up my computer from sleep with Deezer Desktop launched. Relaunching the app usually fixes the issue.
It is indeed annoying, because if unnoticed you won’t benefit from the higher quality options.
Would be a nice fix to implement.

My guess is that Deezer is running some kind of test on launch to check the speed compatibility with throughput requirements for higher qualities.

As far as I know, this is only a display bug in the desktop app happening sporadically. You can check the actual audio quality for the currently playing song in the play queue on the album cover, and it still shows HiFi while the audio quality setting might only show an enabled SQ at 128kbps MP3 like for a free user. Usually this fixes itself with the next track coming up in HiFi.

I’m not sure if this is just a display bug, I need to check the audio quality when this is happening, I will report back to you guys, once I can confirm if it’s visual or actual. Thanks!

I’ve just noticed on the WIndows desk top app that the Audio Quality is at standard 128kb/s, how do i change this to Lossless?

That seems to be it sorted now

Deezer Windows Desktop bug:

Hi! I’m having a UI bug in the desktop app where when I click and view the lyrics on a song the X in the top left doesn’t close the lyrics as it used to. I’ve had this on both 1080p and 4K displays on multiple machines. My workaround is closing the window and reopening it, although this isn’t ideal.

Thanks!

Hi I have bug in Windows desktop version. I can’t leave lyrics mode. The close button doesn’t work.

@henrytj & @jirikovoego

I already reported the bug on version 5.30.280. This was recognized as a bug, the developers are already working on it according to information from support. The lyrics window can be closed by clicking on the microphone icon at the bottom.

Only the Windows version of the desktop app is affected up to and including the latest version 5.30.310.

2 major issues that make navigating the desktop app painful:

  • To go one page back with mouse, I have to click the Back button which is located in the top left corner and is tiny.
  • When I do go back, the app loads the previous page from scratch, losing the scrolling position. This one is especially nasty.

Every page also take pretty long to load (2-5 seconds). I understand that this is caused by the app being a packaged web page (sigh) but maybe something can be done to reduce this time.

Oh yeah, one more thing. It would be great if the app remembered my preferred view setting. It always reverts to Grid.

When I try to go to an album that’s “not available in my country”, the app gets stuck in an error state:

On HP laptop with Win 10 Enterprise, Deezer 5.30.320 crashes/quits when I am moving the Deezer app window with the mouse.

Not just minimises, it diappears from Task Manager.

It happened several times.

Actions taken: restarted computer, checked and no pending Deezer app or Windows updates.

When using Google Assistant to request a song, a live (and lower quality) version of the song is often played, no matter how I phrase it. However, if I type it in, the album version is always the first option.

@Mitch C. as I mentioned in another thread, could you please provide examples in order to investigate?
Thanks :)

Hello! I looked through a bunch of posts and did not see this issue listed; sorry if this is a repeat:

On Windows 10 pro build10.0.19044 , Deezer 5.30.350, the application reliably stops responding to keyboard input. This happens every time the system sleeps the monitor, or I switch to another application, then back to Deezer. Pressing Alt+Tab will also kill the keyboard input, even if Deezer is the only app running. I use multiple desktops and keep Deezer on desktop #2, if that info is helpful.

Two work-arounds I’ve found are to restart Deezer, or click the mouse anywhere in the track list, or left panel.

I would love if I could skip tracks or pause playback without needing the monitor to wake up and make sure the mouse is in the Deezer window, but not hovering over a track or control.

Thanks!

Hello!

Deezer stopped working on Windows 10 desktops (both App and Web) beginning from last Friday (21.10.2022). For some reason all the traffic is denied from our office external IP address.

WEB

APP

Looks, like you’re offline

But mobile App works fine on mobile network.

Also, Web app works from browser, when VPN is activated (was tested in Opera).

Could you suggest what could be the reason for blocking the IP address and/or service?  Or this could be the problem on ISP side?

Thanks,

Yaroslav

I’m gobsmacked that some of the answers to these questions are 2 years old!

I’m new to Deezer and am finding using it on my tablet, which is most of the time, horrible.

Tracks from an album in a playlist have horrible gaps. Listening to Van Morrison It’s too late to stop now is suddenly a miserable experience. It’s a live album where do the pauses come from?

The app also closes all the time for no reason. If I pause a track it does it, if I’m searching it does it, if I’m leaving well alone and letting it play it does it. It’s just done it now as I type.

Frankly I’m starting to feel the premium price isn’t worth the hassle.

I have this as well.   I dop have a 3440x1440 resolution screen.  If I change the resolution down to 1920x1200 or below  it stops doing it though.  2560x1080 and above crshes on move.

I have a screen recording if you want me to send it to you.

HP Zbook Win 11 Deezer 5.30.400

When I play a playlist there is often a short interuption at the start  each new song. Happens both in Android app and desktop app.

Web player Windows desktop notification for now playing song doesn’t work properly. It appears 2 times, firstly with right artist name plus cover and track title from the previous song, the second time with all info correct.

Example on gif, songs played: Rainbow “The Temple of the King” → Rush “Tom Sawyer”

“Your computer seems to be offline. We'll keep trying to reconnect.”

Web browser on linux.

Message clearly inaccurate as music still playing!

Probably occurring as I block trackers/email and marketing.

Deezer you really need to stop the tracking!

Hi, I am using windows app version 5.30.510. The close and report buttons are not clickable when lyrics shown.

I keep getting these error messages multiple times each day, they seem random.
It’s in both the windows app as in the webplayer in chrome.
If I restart the app or refresh the browser everything works again.

Another bug: when I open any playlist in the desktop app, the app turns black (not in chrome player).
I’m not sure but it seems more errors happen when I remove songs froms playlists.
Also some songs in playlists won’t download and the app crashes when trying to play those songs.

I can’t close the lyrics view, that X button on the upper left corner does nothing. Win 11, app version 5.30.520. The only thing that helps in this situation is clicking on Queue button.
