Windows/Mac Deezer Desktop/Web App - Bugs/Issues/Workarounds

Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

What should I post here?

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version of Deezer :floppy_disk:

Hi there, yes, you have the latest version. In your message, you said "When the connection is lost, it is impossible to listen to music". Are you downloading the songs and they aren't working? What is the error message?

There are no error messages. The songs are played only from the Internet. If the connection quality is low, the music just stops. I can't listen to a single song without the Internet, because the application does not cache anything or save anything. The application was given universal access. It definitely has write access.

I’ve contacted Deezer about the issue before, but it looks like the desktop version does NOT have an offline version. I’m on version 4.20.30 and I have to sign in EVERY time that I use it, which is pretty frustrating. This also means that it needs to open on the Deezer website EVERY time I sign in. Which is NOT offline. I have internet issues sometimes (rural area) so part of why I bought the subscription was the ability to use the offline version (especially on downloaded playlists.) But with all the ads you keep sending through (no, I don’t care about the latest playlists, thank you) and the requirement to sign in continually, this means it’s still drawing on download and internet connection. Please fix this!

What’s most frustrating was that on previous versions of the desktop app this wasn’t a problem.

Here’s what happens when I try to open an album:

After clicking the album name, I see a blank page. The only way to go back is to restart the whole application or click the menu button > File > Preferences. After doing that, I see an error and a Retry button. Clicking it doesn’t do anything. Everything else works fine - I can browse artists, see their albums, scroll through my favourite songs etc. I just can’t see the contents of any musical album.

What I’ve tried so far: I uninstalled the appplication, manually removed all its files (%appdata%/Deezer) and cleaned the registry. Then I disabled all my extra network interfaces so that only one was active. I turned off my firewall and downloaded a fresh Deezer installation. Unfortunately, the problem persisted even after doing all that. I would debug it further but there’s no access to DevTools in Deezer (it’s an electron application) so I don’t know why the error is occuring.
Technical details:
OS: Windows 10 Pro Build 18363
Deezer version: 4.19.20
Using VPN: no

App has problems of memory leaks in Linux, surely it will happen too in windows. The memory usage increases  without limits while more time playing.

Can someone test in them machines if there is the same problem or not please? In browser is happenng too

On windows, if you click on window titlebar when window isn’t in focus and press Ctrl+[-], it gets smaller (the viewport zoom stays the same).

You can press Ctrl + Shift + [+] to make it bigger, even beyond 100% zoom
