Windows/Mac Deezer Desktop/Web App - Bugs/Issues/Workarounds

Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

What should I post here?

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version of Deezer :floppy_disk:

Hi there @Piotr T. Zubrzycki

Thank you for getting in touch and sharing your experience with us. For improvement suggestions, please post here :thumbsup_tone2:

And for the problems you mention, could you please let us know what OS and app version you've got?

Hey @Ray Stone have you updated the app recently? Have you tried uninstalling/restarting PC/reinstalling the app?

Hi Rudi,

yes I tried that. Deleted, restarted pc, reinstalled, no difference.

The web player has sound but is not gapless.

getting really fed up with Deezer, never had so many problems, I will be cancelling my subscription.

Sorry to hear that @Ray Stone. Have you tried changing the audio quality to HQ just to test it out?
And why did you mention gapless? Gapless for desktop is being developed at the moment, it hasn't been released yet.

Hi Rudi,

yes I tried HiQ but I’m paying for the HiFi level. It still did not work. It works if I use the webplayer. But that does not have gapless. Why is it taking so long to implement gapless?

why does the App. Not work?

Good job I’m not dependent on my computer.

Hi there Ray @Ray Stone

Gapless for web and desktop app hasn't been released yet. Our devs have been developing it for quite a while now. Once it's ready, I'll announce it here in the community :thumbsup_tone2:

If changing the audio quality didn't fix the problem in the desktop app, we can exclude one of the current bugs we have, which is being fixed. It was important for me to check this with you. Can I please have your OS and app versions? I'll have a chat with our devs about this once I have your details.

Hey Deezer, Can you please fix the download on Deezer Desktop, please? It’s quite annoying having to realize you have to download all your music again after every single update. It makes me not want to update, to be honest. After an update,  some of your songs can’t play offline at all you can even get a play for a few seconds before it stops, it downright doesn’t play at all. In my country, internet comes at a high cost and realizing I have to download it after every update is really painful to given the fact that sometimes I download loads of playlists down once. I use my capped-data internet during the daytime only to realize (via Glasswire) that some of the songs aren’t playing the offline files but it’s streaming online with my data which kind of defeats the purpose of the offline download in the first place.

Sometimes I think what about a quick download of that particular album or playlist (since you can’t download individual songs) but then when I clear the download...IT GOES TO SMART CACHE...and when I try to re-download...it LOADS THE SAME OLD FILES...the ones that aren’t working. And if I attempt to clear smart cache it means I have to delete ALL MY MUSIC files since there’s no option to either delete only your smart cache or to delete only your downloaded music. And if this is happening after every update (I think I’ve gotten 2 updates within the span of 2 months).

Please is there a solution to this or is it a serious bug that needs to be fixed?

I have some weird issues with a few songs. I have listened to over 200 songs in my library without any issues, but two of them have some issues, there’re two songs with the same title “Maroon 5 - One More Night” from the same album “Overexposed”, the only difference is that one album has a few more songs in it. The problem is, that one of these two tracks can play without issues on desktop app and web, while the other track (with higher popularity rate) stops at 0:15 and shows "An error occurred please try again later" message, but I can play both tracks on my phone without issues.

Hey folks,

just installed the desktop app. Yet I cannot get beyond that cookie notification pop-up. If I click on “Ich stimme zu” nothing happens. Whatever I change in those settings below that black buttons doesn’t have any effect at all.

Does anybody have an idea how to solve this?

Thanks in advance,

Hendryk

I am using the desktop app (4.21.0) on Windows 10 and I am having an issue when I go to remove a song from a playlist. When I select “Remove from Playlist” the app doesn’t appear to do perform the action but when I log out and back into the app the song shows removed. It is not updating the playlist immediately to show the change.
