Hello @AndrewC, yes, at this point it’s not normal that you still have access to the old version on the website. Thanks a lot for the lovely feedback though, it’s very much appreciated

Have a nice one

Hi,

I am chiming in to let you know you lost a subscription because of this - now trying the 3 months free trial at your spot*** competitor.

I downloaded the .30 version from your link because it didn’t auto update.

At the end of the update a notification inside deezer tells me that you changed the notification preferences for my account.. ENABLING EVERYTHING! All notifications are enabled on all channels (email, push and SMS).
Who on earth did ask you for this “feature”?

I came here to check if you solved the issue, thinking to come back eventually, but this moves are bad for user experience.
Can I revert back to my previous notification settings?

Hello @uluru, you’ll find some explanations about the new notification settings here, both in the article and the comments. I acknowledge this can be really upsetting to see everything activated again. The reason for that is that we changed the notification system, offering a new categorisation, and it was technically complicated to import the old notification settings of all users to the new system. You can of course modify yourself your notification settings to your convenience.

Let me know if you have more questions

hi @Kevin Deezer , thank you for your reply.

Today, with the 4.19.30, deezer is asking me to log in again.

So the new release doesn’t fix the issue.

Mind you that I often put the pc in standby or ibernate, I reboot a couple times a week, maybe that’s what triggers the issue with deezer.

That’s bad user experience

Hello @uluru, the new authentication system bases itself on the browser, so basically you need to be logged in on deezer.com via your internet browser to automatically access the app. Of course, after some time, you’ll get logged out for safety reasons, it’s not a bug in itself. Hope that helps, feel free to ask more questions.

This is an absolute pain, replace the recaptcha so it’s less aggressive, it makes me not use music on my PC, I’ve never had an app where I have to waste 10 mins every time proving that I’m human. Particularly worse as it keeps logging me out.

Hello @metronome, this has been fixed for some weeks now, which version of the desktop app do you have?

Hi Kevin, what exactly are the “security reasons”? That’s not a banking app. It is tied to a windows login, so there is little to none security reasons.

You may instead ask for new login if you detect suspicious (or fraudulent) activity, but hassling your regular users is an invitation to make them go away. I think I’ll be one of them.

More so if this would actually be a security feature you would also apply this to the android app, and that is not the case. Why is it so? Do you plan to introduce it on android as well?

Look at your competitors: Do spotify, tidal, apple apps force you to login every few weeks? I don’t think so, but maybe I’m wrong.

Hi, it’s indeed not a banking app, but you do have personal and payment information in your profile. We’re still working to improve both the safety of your account and the authentication process, we’ll keep you posted in the Community.

With 4.20.30 it seems no more incessant authentication via Captcha - thank the lord, let’s hope it remains like this.

Hi Kevin, thank you for your reply.

Accessing profile information is not a routine operation at all, it happens once in a while, so it would be reasonable to password protect only that part of the application with stronger authentication and let me enjoy the music I’m paying for with no hassle.

More so, I just checked that payment information now links to the website and you are forced to login again, so no risk on that part.

Hello @EddieB, thanks for the feedback, it should indeed stay that way now

Hi @uluru, I do understand what you mean, and I appreciate the feedback. I really hope it will be more user friendly soon enough, we’ve already made improvements but it’s far from over

Im having this for months now and im really fucked up, because every time i start the macOS Desktop-App i have to log me in. Really, this is my number one reason why im planning to switch to Spotify Premium. If u don’t fix this in time i will leave Deezer.

Hello @JSG01, which version of the app do you have?

@Kevin Deezer im using Version 4.21.0 (4.21.0.108)

It seems that the macOS App is running as a Webapp using browser cookies. Every time i close my browser, cookies are getting deleted and i have to relogin in the Deezer App.

@JSG01 Yes, that’s exactly the reason why. The new authentication process relies on the authentication via the browser and thus the cookies. It was made this way to fix the bad user experience with the constant reCaptchas. Would it be possible for you to add an exception?

Hello,
I posted about this 6 months ago and wondering if there is an ETA on the fix? I have literally no issues with anything else, deezer is great except for this. It’s giving me and my family high blood pressure lol. The “having login troubles?” link sent to my email apparently only lets me log in to the website, not the app. Just got this message locking me out of the app because apparently I’ve been deemed dumber than a bot:

Thanks!

Just installed the 4.19.30 after googling this hideous problem.

Why was not this solution applied as automatic update?

I was running a 4.18-something version, and had not been promped to upgrade to this day.

Well, at least I got signed in automatically,  even if it left two pages open in my browser.. :p

Hi there @haneck @BjornOdegard

Thank you for reporting and for your patience. Could you please try clearing cache and cookies for the browser that opens when you log in to Deezer? That should help :thumbsup_tone2:
