Deezer Desktop App - does not keep me logged in and too many Captchas

For some reason the desktop app (OS 😵 doesn’t keep me logged in, so I periodically need to sign in again.

Doing so requires spending 2-3 minutes clicking on pictures of traffic lights and fire hydrants.

This is absolutely ludicrous behaviour for a *desktop* app. Honestly, the desktop app shouldn’t auto-logout at all. If you are so worried about robots, then switch to 2-factor authentication or something.

Hi all,

Thank you for all the answers provided so far - very helpful! Our developers who are investigating this problem have asked for more info from you to speed up the process. Could you please tell us:

  • Do you have to log in every time you relaunch the app or is this happening every time the app gets an update?
  • When you get logged out, can you log back in straight away or you need to restart the app?
  • Have you downloaded the app from the Windows Store or using a direct link for the .exe file?

Let us know the most you can, it can help us fix this quicker :thumbsup_tone2:

As far as I know, the login problem is not related to the version of the desktop app, but rather to your account and/or changes Deezer applied on their servers. For example when I suddenly could not login to version 4.18.50 (although it worked before), it helped to actually quit it in the Windows 10 systray, not simply closing it with the X in the upper right corner. After restarting it, it offered the usual login screen with the annoying captchas and finally let me in.

Hi there @tubeaudio

@bluezzbastardzz may have a point here, the login issue should be resolved with that version. So I've carried out some maintenance on your account and sent a password reset email. Please change your email, and try to log in directly. Fill in the captcha and let us know if you get kicked out of the app again :thumbsup_tone2:

@jk00 what version of our desktop app have you got? Have you tried reinstalling it?

Could you please reply to all of the following questions to speed up the process:

  1. What is the brand and model of the computer or laptop you are having problems with?
Generic Desktop PC, Intel Core Duo CPU

  2. Which Operating System Version do you have installed?
Windows 10 Pro on a Active Directory Domain

  3. Which Deezer Desktop App version do you have installed?
Windows Store App, Current Version 4.18.50.0 - possibly solved now?

  4. Were you logged out on the same day? Or a few days later? What was the time period in between?
Fairly random, days with no problem, then multiple times in one day. If I were to guess, related to app updates.

  5. How often did you have to login again so far?
    Lost count

  6. Are you using your email address to login OR Google OR Facebook OR MSISDN?
    email address + password

Side note - trialled Spotify, Nice looking UI on phone and Desktop, but less usable, especially on the TV via my NVidia shield. Losing cross-device access to my uploaded MP3’s was a deal-breaker 🙂 I really like that aspect of Deezer.

Hope this can be resolved soon.

Edit: Upgraded to 4.18.60 - will see how it goes.

I just downloaded the latest version - I still get a captcha popping up asking me to select all images with a fire hydrant. Like this  :confounded:

I’m experiencing similar issues. Log-in is required, sometimes my credentials aren’t accepted by the app so I started using the browser again. And then these captchas : they keep popping up as if I was a stranger. I’ve been using Deezer for 4 years now. Moved to a Family user last year but if these log-in issues continue I will look for another platform… I see the topic was raised already some time ago, so I hope Deezer will fix it any day now. Thanks.

Hi,

I use desktop app in only one Notebook, but every a few days the app request to me the user and password again.

I think the app must be more clever and does not requires user and password in an environment where I use the app every day in the same computer.

I need to clarify that the deezer account is familiar, but I think if a user logout does not be affected to other users.
