Deezer Desktop App - does not keep me logged in and too many Captchas

For some reason the desktop app (OS 😵 doesn’t keep me logged in, so I periodically need to sign in again.

Doing so requires spending 2-3 minutes clicking on pictures of traffic lights and fire hydrants.

This is absolutely ludicrous behaviour for a *desktop* app. Honestly, the desktop app shouldn’t auto-logout at all. If you are so worried about robots, then switch to 2-factor authentication or something.

Hi all,

Thank you for all the answers provided so far - very helpful! Our developers who are investigating this problem have asked for more info from you to speed up the process. Could you please tell us:

  • Do you have to log in every time you relaunch the app or is this happening every time the app gets an update?
  • When you get logged out, can you log back in straight away or you need to restart the app?
  • Have you downloaded the app from the Windows Store or using a direct link for the .exe file?

Let us know the most you can, it can help us fix this quicker :thumbsup_tone2:

  • For me it’s happening very randomly. Sometimes after an update, sometimes on a new day (same version running, no update), … No pattern visible to me. Sometimes it’s running for weeks, sometimes I have to login two times a week...
  • I’ve seen that i can’t search instantly in the app when it was running for a long time. Maybe a session was invalidated and needs to be recreated. My fix is to click any link in the app, so I have a working session again and then the search is working properly. But for the login that’s no problem at all. I can login right away.

  • I only need to log back in occasionally. Most times when I start the app, I do not need to present credentials. I have not noticed a correlation with the app being updated, but I will not rule it out. Immediately after an update, I don’t have to log in again, but it may happen after my PC has subsequently been power-cycled. I have not noticed.
  • I am only asked for credentials when the app is launched. I’ve never been logged out while the app was running.
  • Both.

I just filled out 4 of the “Identify the stupid yellow object” captchas in a row. I really enjoy the service, but if it takes me this long to log in each time I restart, I don’t know if I will stay.

Ok, so the paging back and forward that was broken for months is finally fixed.

The app has been losing my logon credentials and this happened several times. And then I have to go through the idiotic choose the pictures with the bus, traffic lights etc.

This is the Windows desktop app, not the website. This continues the infuriating, first-day-on-the-job UI behavior.

Save my logon credentials from the app and don’t ever ask me for them again, so then it will be like every other Windows app.

Thanks @jsg7440 @Vagn_Henning @claw.

This information is very precious to get to the bottom of this. Apologies once more for the inconvenience of having to do this.

I just want to pass a message to anyone at Deezer who might be reading. I do not plan to waste time by logging in here again, but what happened today upset me so much that I want to share my view with Deezer.

Today I logged into my Deezer application to listen to music and, after entering my user name and password, I was asked to annotate about 5 or 6 images, pointing to specific items in them (e.g motorcycles, road crossings etc.).

Subjecting paying users to this kind of task is totally unacceptable practice!

It happened to me on 4.18.60.

I don’t want to use the browser version. I am paying for a hifi subscription and the app...
