Deezer Desktop App - does not keep me logged in and too many Captchas

For some reason the desktop app (OS 😵 doesn’t keep me logged in, so I periodically need to sign in again.

Doing so requires spending 2-3 minutes clicking on pictures of traffic lights and fire hydrants.

This is absolutely ludicrous behaviour for a *desktop* app. Honestly, the desktop app shouldn’t auto-logout at all. If you are so worried about robots, then switch to 2-factor authentication or something.

Hi all,

Thank you for all the answers provided so far - very helpful! Our developers who are investigating this problem have asked for more info from you to speed up the process. Could you please tell us:

  • Do you have to log in every time you relaunch the app or is this happening every time the app gets an update?
  • When you get logged out, can you log back in straight away or you need to restart the app?
  • Have you downloaded the app from the Windows Store or using a direct link for the .exe file?

Let us know the most you can, it can help us fix this quicker :thumbsup_tone2:

I just cancelled my subscription and set one up with Spotify. With them there’s a single checkbox to confirm that you’re not a robot, when setting up the account, and that’s it! No more crosswalks or traffic lights! Bliss! Hope to be back with Deezer one day if it’s ever fixed.

Hi there @n1gth @heriberteisinger @cedric_d @Tobi_H @bluestar

Thank you for your feedback and apologies for the experience you've been having with the login. I've passed your comments directly to the developers working with the desktop app.

We hope to provide a better experience to you all soon. In the meantime, could you please confirm if you've got version 4.18.70 installed?

I downloaded the desktop app off of the microsoft store based on the instructions on the site. I also tried the “move to C” solution. The app force crashes without giving me any error message or diagnostics

I have 4.18.70 installed (I installed it through the Windows store) and was just logged out automatically.  I had to answer a Captcha to find fire hydrants.  It annoyed me enough to find this thread.

I am not logged out every reboot, but it happens frequently enough to be extremely annoying, and here is why...  I use a password manager as my Deezer password has fifty characters (I would not want somebody else using my account, after all).  That means that when I get logged out, I have to open the browser, open the PW manager, find Deezer, copy the password, paste it into the app, and spend the next two minutes finding crosswalks, fire hydrants, or traffic lights.

I see that it has been about a month since this was acknowledged as an issue.  Is the solution design complete?  I am willing to stick around and not cancel my paid subscription, but I need to know that there is progress being made and have an understanding of when this madness will end.  In the meantime, I think I will change my password to qwerty123 or something so I can stop having to go to the PW manager each time.

Hello,

Every time I start the desktop application (MacOS / Windows), I need to login and it says that my credentials are incorrect but works fine on browser. I’m kinda done of this shit. If you don’t do something about it, Spotify here I come…

Cheers.

This is outrageous. How can you guys keep asking us to jump through hoops.

Every windows app on earth asks for userid and password once and then never again. Why do you keep asking me to log in and then go through 10 captchas? This is worse than a webapp.

ATROCIOUS! Just fix it already!
