Deezer Desktop App - does not keep me logged in and too many Captchas

Userlevel 3

For some reason the desktop app (OS 😵 doesn’t keep me logged in, so I periodically need to sign in again.

Doing so requires spending 2-3 minutes clicking on pictures of traffic lights and fire hydrants.

This is absolutely ludicrous behaviour for a *desktop* app. Honestly, the desktop app shouldn’t auto-logout at all. If you are so worried about robots, then switch to 2-factor authentication or something.

Hi @blackpaw many apologies this has happened. It is normal that updates disrupt your other apps as well. Well done for having closed the Deezer App in your system tray and re-opening it. This is the only way it works. Thank you for your patience.

Same on Mac, and I’m getting really tired of this crap.

I do not want to have to log in each time, please have your coders set some type of check box to allow the app’s to store login. I have checked security and gave permissions in the Mac book preferences.

Hi all,

Thank you for all the answers provided so far - very helpful! Our developers who are investigating this problem have asked for more info from you to speed up the process. Could you please tell us:

  • Do you have to log in every time you relaunch the app or is this happening every time the app gets an update?
  • When you get logged out, can you log back in straight away or you need to restart the app?
  • Have you downloaded the app from the Windows Store or using a direct link for the .exe file?

Let us know the most you can, it can help us fix this quicker :thumbsup_tone2:

  • not every time i start it, but for sure it happened after update recently.
  • never got logged out while using the app. Only when starting it.
  • it’s from the Windows Store

This has not been solved. Every few weeks or so I need te re-signin on my desktop-app and go true a verification proces as described above. It's paid account so no, I'm not a robot. Please get rid of it.

Thank you all @ymns3321@Mark.Brok and @Andreas.Ahlqvist for your feedback, we will forward them to the tech teams working now on this issue.

Have a nice weekend

The reCaptcha on your desktop app is abysmal! Stop making me click the four pages of crap to login!

Use the checkmark one. This isn’t a cryptocurrancy account. This isn’t even my email. Why do you make it so imposing to log into an account!? Are you getting revenue off of this for AI learning? It’s bull! Stop wasting my time and causing frustration!

The fact I also need to relogin every time I turn off my VPN because your crap player can’t handle it and just gives errors when a new track starts to play is also terrible.

I’m super close to switching to Tidal because of this terrible user experience.

Hello @Lazz, I understand that you are angry about this, many users have a similar opinion and we keep sharing it with our teams. I apologize for the inconvenience and hope we will soon be able to propose you a better user experience.

Thank you for your feedback and have a nice day

hi team,
our entire family is regularly kicked out of the app, usually after a day of non-use.

my dad asks me every day why we switched to deezer, he never had that problem with spotify. He is 78 years old and he is really bothered by this topic.
Since a few days, this problem also appears with me.

Why is there even an autologout on the desktop app. That's total nonsense for a home PC.

Do you plan to change the subject in the near future? Or do you have a quick fix?  Alternatively I have to install spotify again for my father and unfortunately I have to change my subscription?

Totally agree, its so annoying! Never seen reCaptcha on desktop app before. Deezer please get some capable developers and make captcha implementation so that it doesn’t even show if only trying a few times and keep login for at least a month. We are paying for listening to the music not for solving stupid reCaptcha. I will go from my strong random password to a short insecure one for now, so I will write it quicker.

Please fix. My company would do such thing in less than a week!

Again I was logged out from the desktop client, and again the captcha came up. After almost three months, I’ve had enough now, going to switch to Spotify. Whoever is responsible for the terrible Deezer Desktop client has managed to

  1. lose a paying customer
  2. gain someone who when asked by family/friends what they think of deezer, will give them an honest review

Same here : 5 boring captcha windows to log in ? Am i a Deezer customer or Google employee ??

Had to calm down not to cancel my subscription.

Same here.

I have not managed to log in via the desktop app. The captchas go on forever. I will have to unsubscribe from this app soon.

Dear Deezer.

Will you fix the problem with the captcha going on forever in the desktop app at my iMac?

If not, I will have to unsubscribe.

Thank you

I just cancelled my subscription and set one up with Spotify. With them there’s a single checkbox to confirm that you’re not a robot, when setting up the account, and that’s it! No more crosswalks or traffic lights! Bliss! Hope to be back with Deezer one day if it’s ever fixed.

Hi there @n1gth @heriberteisinger @cedric_d @Tobi_H @bluestar

Thank you for your feedback and apologies for the experience you've been having with the login. I've passed your comments directly to the developers working with the desktop app.

We hope to provide a better experience to you all soon. In the meantime, could you please confirm if you've got version 4.18.70 installed?

I downloaded the desktop app off of the microsoft store based on the instructions on the site. I also tried the “move to C” solution. The app force crashes without giving me any error message or diagnostics

I have 4.18.70 installed (I installed it through the Windows store) and was just logged out automatically.  I had to answer a Captcha to find fire hydrants.  It annoyed me enough to find this thread.

I am not logged out every reboot, but it happens frequently enough to be extremely annoying, and here is why...  I use a password manager as my Deezer password has fifty characters (I would not want somebody else using my account, after all).  That means that when I get logged out, I have to open the browser, open the PW manager, find Deezer, copy the password, paste it into the app, and spend the next two minutes finding crosswalks, fire hydrants, or traffic lights.

I see that it has been about a month since this was acknowledged as an issue.  Is the solution design complete?  I am willing to stick around and not cancel my paid subscription, but I need to know that there is progress being made and have an understanding of when this madness will end.  In the meantime, I think I will change my password to qwerty123 or something so I can stop having to go to the PW manager each time.

Hi @The1bill @Anti_Coffee

Thanks for visiting our community and sharing your experience with us.

Our team is working on it already, all we can ask you is for more patience :pray_tone2:

Hello,

Every time I start the desktop application (MacOS / Windows), I need to login and it says that my credentials are incorrect but works fine on browser. I’m kinda done of this shit. If you don’t do something about it, Spotify here I come…

Cheers.

I am tired of recapcha. I have to do it everyday. I AM WAISTING MY TIME. If you don´t solve it I will change to spotify

This is outrageous. How can you guys keep asking us to jump through hoops.

Every windows app on earth asks for userid and password once and then never again. Why do you keep asking me to log in and then go through 10 captchas? This is worse than a webapp.

ATROCIOUS! Just fix it already!
