Overview: We propose the introduction of a customizable transition effect parameter for Deezer users, enhancing the listening experience by allowing smooth transitions between tracks. This feature addresses the abruptness currently felt when skipping tracks mid-playback, offering a more seamless and personalized audio experience.

Feature Description: The new transition parameter will enable users to select how songs transition when using the next or previous track buttons. Options will include immediate switching (the current default behavior) and various fading effects, where the current song gradually fades out while the next one fades in. This setting will be optional, ensuring that users who prefer the current immediate transition can continue without change.

User Benefit: This feature caters to the growing demand for personalized listening experiences. Many users find the abrupt jump between tracks, especially when skipping mid-song, to be jarring. Introducing transition effects will make the act of changing tracks smoother and more enjoyable, aligning with the high-quality listening experience Deezer aims to provide.

Implementation:

  • Customization Options: Users can access the transition settings via the app's playback options menu. Here, they can choose their preferred transition effect or opt to keep the current immediate switch.
  • User Control: To ensure that this feature enhances the user experience without imposing changes on those who are satisfied with the current setup, enabling the transition effect will be entirely optional.
  • Adaptability: The feature will be designed to work seamlessly across all devices that support the Deezer app, ensuring a consistent experience for all users.
