For some reason the desktop app (OS 😵 doesn’t keep me logged in, so I periodically need to sign in again.

Doing so requires spending 2-3 minutes clicking on pictures of traffic lights and fire hydrants.

This is absolutely ludicrous behaviour for a *desktop* app. Honestly, the desktop app shouldn’t auto-logout at all. If you are so worried about robots, then switch to 2-factor authentication or something.

Hi all,

Thank you for all the answers provided so far - very helpful! Our developers who are investigating this problem have asked for more info from you to speed up the process. Could you please tell us:

  • Do you have to log in every time you relaunch the app or is this happening every time the app gets an update?
  • When you get logged out, can you log back in straight away or you need to restart the app?
  • Have you downloaded the app from the Windows Store or using a direct link for the .exe file?

Let us know the most you can, it can help us fix this quicker :thumbsup_tone2:

  • For me it’s happening very randomly. Sometimes after an update, sometimes on a new day (same version running, no update), … No pattern visible to me. Sometimes it’s running for weeks, sometimes I have to login two times a week...
  • I’ve seen that i can’t search instantly in the app when it was running for a long time. Maybe a session was invalidated and needs to be recreated. My fix is to click any link in the app, so I have a working session again and then the search is working properly. But for the login that’s no problem at all. I can login right away.
  • Store version

  • I only need to log back in occasionally. Most times when I start the app, I do not need to present credentials. I have not noticed a correlation with the app being updated, but I will not rule it out. Immediately after an update, I don’t have to log in again, but it may happen after my PC has subsequently been power-cycled. I have not noticed.
  • I am only asked for credentials when the app is launched. I’ve never been logged out while the app was running.
  • Both.

I just filled out 4 of the “Identify the stupid yellow object” captchas in a row. I really enjoy the service, but if it takes me this long to log in each time I restart, I don’t know if I will stay.

Ok, so the paging back and forward that was broken for months is finally fixed.

The app has been losing my logon credentials and this happened several times. And then I have to go through the idiotic choose the pictures with the bus, traffic lights etc.

This is the Windows desktop app, not the website. This continues the infuriating, first-day-on-the-job UI behavior.

Save my logon credentials from the app and don’t ever ask me for them again, so then it will be like every other Windows app.

Thanks @jsg7440 @Vagn_Henning @claw.

This information is very precious to get to the bottom of this. Apologies once more for the inconvenience of having to do this.

I just want to pass a message to anyone at Deezer who might be reading. I do not plan to waste time by logging in here again, but what happened today upset me so much that I want to share my view with Deezer.

Today I logged into my Deezer application to listen to music and, after entering my user name and password, I was asked to annotate about 5 or 6 images, pointing to specific items in them (e.g motorcycles, road crossings etc.).

Subjecting paying users to this kind of task is totally unacceptable practice!

Hello @tubeaudio we are so sorry that there are currently several technical bugs in the Deezer Desktop App. Our developers are trying to fix them as soon as possible. The Login problem has already been fixed - please make sure you have installed Deezer Desktop version 4.18.50

The constantly being logged out again problem has not been fixed yet but is hard work in progress. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

If it is too annoying, please use the browser version.

It happened to me on 4.18.60.

I don’t want to use the browser version. I am paying for a hifi subscription and the app...

app keeps logging me out and captcha is really humiliating - please reconsider it

As far as I know, the login problem is not related to the version of the desktop app, but rather to your account and/or changes Deezer applied on their servers. For example when I suddenly could not login to version 4.18.50 (although it worked before), it helped to actually quit it in the Windows 10 systray, not simply closing it with the X in the upper right corner. After restarting it, it offered the usual login screen with the annoying captchas and finally let me in.

Hi there @tubeaudio

@bluezzbastardzz may have a point here, the login issue should be resolved with that version. So I've carried out some maintenance on your account and sent a password reset email. Please change your email, and try to log in directly. Fill in the captcha and let us know if you get kicked out of the app again :thumbsup_tone2:

@jk00 what version of our desktop app have you got? Have you tried reinstalling it?

Could you please reply to all of the following questions to speed up the process:

  1. What is the brand and model of the computer or laptop you are having problems with?
Generic Desktop PC, Intel Core Duo CPU

  2. Which Operating System Version do you have installed?
Windows 10 Pro on a Active Directory Domain

  3. Which Deezer Desktop App version do you have installed?
Windows Store App, Current Version 4.18.50.0 - possibly solved now?

  4. Were you logged out on the same day? Or a few days later? What was the time period in between?
Fairly random, days with no problem, then multiple times in one day. If I were to guess, related to app updates.

  5. How often did you have to login again so far?
    Lost count

  6. Are you using your email address to login OR Google OR Facebook OR MSISDN?
    email address + password

Side note - trialled Spotify, Nice looking UI on phone and Desktop, but less usable, especially on the TV via my NVidia shield. Losing cross-device access to my uploaded MP3’s was a deal-breaker 🙂 I really like that aspect of Deezer.

Hope this can be resolved soon.

Edit: Upgraded to 4.18.60 - will see how it goes.

I just downloaded the latest version - I still get a captcha popping up asking me to select all images with a fire hydrant. Like this  :confounded:

I’m experiencing similar issues. Log-in is required, sometimes my credentials aren’t accepted by the app so I started using the browser again. And then these captchas : they keep popping up as if I was a stranger. I’ve been using Deezer for 4 years now. Moved to a Family user last year but if these log-in issues continue I will look for another platform… I see the topic was raised already some time ago, so I hope Deezer will fix it any day now. Thanks.

Hi there @Klaas Decuypere @n1gth

Sorry to hear that. What version exactly do you have installed?

@blackpaw keep us posted :thumbsup_tone2:

Hi,

I use desktop app in only one Notebook, but every a few days the app request to me the user and password again.

I think the app must be more clever and does not requires user and password in an environment where I use the app every day in the same computer.

I need to clarify that the deezer account is familiar, but I think if a user logout does not be affected to other users.

Hi Rudi

I’m using the most recent app for Windows 10 both on my Surface and Desktop.

Rgds

Klaas

Hello @orilescano, thank you for the honest feedback, it is indeed an issue that has been shared to us by many users. Our tech teams are now working on it, we hope that it will soon be fixed.

Have a good day

Hi - each time when I log in on my Windows 10 Deezer App, after I have entered username and password i need to click on all these pictures before i finally can access. Click on all the traffic lights .. .all the cars .. etc. What can be done to bypass this ? thanks,

Thanks for coming back with further info @Klaas Decuypere, we'll pass it on :thumbsup_tone2:

Hey @Robert De Niro "are you talking to me?!" :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

We're looking into it now, please see above so that you can provide further info to our devs.

Same here. The app keeps logging me out once in a week or so with captcha.

Win 10, Deezer 4.18.60.0 from Windows Store. The issue is not only with the latest version.

Hi @ymns3321 thanks for your details. I forwarded your case to our developers as well and hope they can fix this very soon.

Ok, the app just logged me out in the middle of playing an Album. I had to go through 9 captcha’s before it let me back on! This is really intolerable.

Also, it initially wouldn’t let authenticate at all - kept saying my details were incorrect despite definitely having the right email and password. I had to close the app (right-click system tray icon, Quit Deezer) and restart it before I could even get past the login screen.

Win 10, Deezer 4.18.60.0 from Windows Store

Edit: The Logout does seem to have coincided with me doing a manual “Downloads and updates|Get Updates” from the windows store - it did update two apps, MSN News and MS Weather.

Hi, I’m having the same issue. Every time I restart my laptop, I have to go through the login process again. It’s irritating and time consuming. My OS is Windows 10 Enterprise and  app verision 4.18.6., all software is up to date.
