Deezer and Chromecast Audio problems

I've read many topics about the problems with Chromecast Audio and I'm suprised that the Deezer people doesn't do anything about it. Of course, we all had wanted that streaming to Chromecast Audio could be lossless but for the moment I could have lived with the current bitrate.
But I can't live with the unstable connection to Chromecast Audio. Sometimes it works fine but most of the time when choosing a new track, the message "Reading data... almost finished bla bla bla" appears and it is never finished. If I turn off the Chromecast Audio, the track works fine.
I'm in a trial period and if the Chromecast Audio connection isn't improved I have no need for Deezer.
It's very sad, because I really like Deezer and was about to skip Spotify.
Now, I have to get back to Spotify. Their Chromecast connection works fine.
So, my question is: Why don't you Deezer folks do anything about it?

Hey @Adrian.T

Sorry to hear that. The good news is that we've already put months into getting a new Chromecast integration off the ground. This is because we're aware our current integration isn't as stable as our users deserve. But we're really excited for what's coming, so please bear with us if you can, we'd like you to give us your feedback once it's in place 👍🏼

Heyya! Sorry we're just getting back to you now!
If you haven't changed your mind already - you can try the following:

  • clear the app's cache (settings>>account settings>>smartcache)
  • delete/reinstall
  • ensure a functional internet connection
Also: is the error occurring with the same frequency/at all if you set the audio settings to a lower quality?

Well. You know, I'm not dropped behind a wagon as we say in Sweden.
The tips you gave me, I've already tried.
I have a 100 megabit fiber connection to the internet and I will not accept a lower bitrate than the highest you offer me from the Cromecast Audio unit. That is 320 Kbit I assume. Even though my subscription is/was Deezer Hifi.
If Spotify (and even Tidal) can provide a stable connection to the Cromecast Audio, I believe you should be able to accomplish that too. As i mentioned in my "question" above, there are several complaints about the poor connection to the Chromecast Audio in your community.
You should take these complaints seriously. And with a Deezer Hifi subscription, the sound quality from the Chromecast Audio should be Hifi. Tidal is streaming with Hifi quality with Chromecast Audio,
I liked your product better, but as I said, without a stable connection to the Chromecast Audio, I have no need for Deezer.

Regards,
Alf

I am 2 days into the trial period and I am also very disappointed with the Chromecast Audio performance. I am using a Macbook Pro, and Chrome. I get random skipping and popping in the playback. I have changed quality from Better to Quality, and this did nothing to improve it. I tried rebooting the CCA repeatedly, everything is on the same fiber network, all of the normal troubleshooting.....no improvement.

My CCA works perfectly with Google Play Music. No stuttering, no popping, no playback issues at all, so the setup is perfect.

I really want to like Deezer (ie give you my money....), but lack of CCA implementation is a show stopper for me as well.

Any hope?

HI @scott.goetz sorry about that. We have had problems with Chromecast on iPhone and Android, since you talk about a MacBook Pro I need to ask you to give us more information about the behaviour. What do you mean exactly with "skipping and popping"? Would you mind describing this in more detail please?
Which Mac OS do you have installed?

In the past few days, I've experienced problems playing songs on Chromecast Audio (Android, A5 2017). Every 5 to 10 sec playback pause of 1 sec appears.

Mac OS 10.13.6 High Sierra (latest update). Occasionally (usually every 2-3 songs) a cracking or popping noise happens, sometimes in the left speaker, sometime the right - it is electronic noise, similar to when you plug a speaker in while the amp is powered on. Skipping/stuttering - just like when a vinyl record skips, the playback is not continuous and smooth.

I have tried 3 different cables from chromecast to amp. Two different power cables to the Chromecast. I have unplugged any other sources of rf/wifi interference (Roku, etc). I have tried 2 different Chromecast Audios. I have tried 2 completely different systems in two different rooms, one location about 5 feet from the router.

Google Play Music works perfectly in all of the configurations. Deezer exhibits the same issues with every configuration. So I can confidently say it is a Deezer issue, not a HW issue.

Thanks a lot for the details, Scott. Another question, are you using our new design or the older version? Have you checked both and if so, is it the same result?

no idea what design, how do I tell and how do I change??

If you post a screenshot we know already. We have a new design on the website, that is what we are referring to.

+1 for this.

I've been using Deezer for about a year now, after moving from Spotify.

The integration with Chromecast Audio is shocking and has always been. iOS, Android - it doesn't matter.

I've managed to live with the Deezer app 'falling behind' with what is playing on the speakers. Sometimes I've actually had to unplug the Chromecast as I can no longer control it with Deezer.

Random crackles in my music are the latest flaw.

Just sort it out.

Hi Adam, I'm sorry about that! We are sending all feedbacks on to the right department and will get in touch as soon as we have any more news about it!

Other content plays fine.
Few weeks in my paid subscription, don't know if to continue next month 😞

Same issue here. We have 2 accounts (1 premium, 1 HiFi since you don't offer HiFi family accounts...). Many very short pauses during the playback on a CCA with the hifi account. Please solve or I'll have to look elsewhere. I don't mind the extra cost but with a subpar CCA experience and a subpar Android Auto (where are all the buttons??) Experience it's not worth it.

Hi there - where is the up-to-date thread for collating Chromecast issues?

The previous one (linked in the post above) has apparently been deleted.

hi there,

had many of the problems of Chromecast-Audio-to-Deezer-incompatibility mentioned by above contributors. I have been trying and re-re-re-trying Deezer Hifi on Android 8.0 to Chromecast Audio for over a year and it has now become clear to me: Deezer is incompatible with Chromecast Audio. Full stop! or at least it is so unpredictable/uncontrollable and buggy, that it is useless for streaming Deezer.

It should actually be a minor software problem to solve, as other streaming services have done. The only way I can explain the persistence of the problem, is that Deezer and Google have unresolved financial/commercial disagreements, to which neither wants to give in. After all both have their own music streaming services and are not inclined to make life easy to their competitor.

So yes, I stop trying and use now other music services, which are no hindrance to enjoying music.

Hello Deezer,
Sadly, time passes by (days, weeks and months...) and Deezer is still uncapable of making Chromecast work without issues.
10 years using Deezer, I even have Deezer Family 😞 ... but it seems all love comes to an end! Specially when one sees how smoothly Spotify and other competitors work perfectly with Chromecast.
Deezer Support, please give us a real solution. It's 2019!!!
Best regards.

Hi @audiococo and @piedrafrita we are aware that this is taking longer than expected and we are very sorry about that. We always do our best to solve issues as fast as we can, but it seems like it was not as easy. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

I have the same issue as described by other people here, CCA support is clearly an issue for Deezer. I will be moving to another service due to this issue. Shame really, because I liked Deezer. If Deezer can fix this issue then I would likely come back, but until then it's completely unusable for me and there are other services that provide CCA support.

I just signed up for Deezer HiFi today and was excited to try it out with Chromecast Audio. Wish I read this thread first. I concur that Deezer is completely useless with CCA. Looks like I’ll be canceling unless this issue can be resolved. It’s too bad because the potential is there.

I have quite high end WiFi with Netgear Nighthawk X10 router/WLAN + Asus RPT-AC68 WLAN repeater and JBL Playlist as a Chromecast speaker. All support 5Ghz WLAN and repeater is just 3 m / 10 feet away from JBL. The issue is not in infrastructure. It's somewhere in the code compatibilty with Chromecast. I get max. 30 min play until sound starts to break and mute. It shouldn't be rocket science to make Deezer to work with Chromecast devices as all the other vendors have done it. Please put effort to this issue as it ruins musical experience.
