Deezer and Chromecast Audio problems

Userlevel 3
I've read many topics about the problems with Chromecast Audio and I'm suprised that the Deezer people doesn't do anything about it. Of course, we all had wanted that streaming to Chromecast Audio could be lossless but for the moment I could have lived with the current bitrate.
But I can't live with the unstable connection to Chromecast Audio. Sometimes it works fine but most of the time when choosing a new track, the message "Reading data... almost finished bla bla bla" appears and it is never finished. If I turn off the Chromecast Audio, the track works fine.
I'm in a trial period and if the Chromecast Audio connection isn't improved I have no need for Deezer.
It's very sad, because I really like Deezer and was about to skip Spotify.
Now, I have to get back to Spotify. Their Chromecast connection works fine.
So, my question is: Why don't you Deezer folks do anything about it?

Well. You know, I'm not dropped behind a wagon as we say in Sweden.
The tips you gave me, I've already tried.
I have a 100 megabit fiber connection to the internet and I will not accept a lower bitrate than the highest you offer me from the Cromecast Audio unit. That is 320 Kbit I assume. Even though my subscription is/was Deezer Hifi.
If Spotify (and even Tidal) can provide a stable connection to the Cromecast Audio, I believe you should be able to accomplish that too. As i mentioned in my "question" above, there are several complaints about the poor connection to the Chromecast Audio in your community.
You should take these complaints seriously. And with a Deezer Hifi subscription, the sound quality from the Chromecast Audio should be Hifi. Tidal is streaming with Hifi quality with Chromecast Audio,
I liked your product better, but as I said, without a stable connection to the Chromecast Audio, I have no need for Deezer.

Alf

+1 for this.

I've been using Deezer for about a year now, after moving from Spotify.

The integration with Chromecast Audio is shocking and has always been. iOS, Android - it doesn't matter.

I've managed to live with the Deezer app 'falling behind' with what is playing on the speakers. Sometimes I've actually had to unplug the Chromecast as I can no longer control it with Deezer.

Random crackles in my music are the latest flaw.

Just sort it out.

Two years later the casting issue still hasn't been resolved. Constant dropouts and the only resolution from tech support is to clear cache or reinstall app which doesn't fix anything. Is it actually going to get fixed? Or more empty promises?

I am 2 days into the trial period and I am also very disappointed with the Chromecast Audio performance. I am using a Macbook Pro, and Chrome. I get random skipping and popping in the playback. I have changed quality from Better to Quality, and this did nothing to improve it. I tried rebooting the CCA repeatedly, everything is on the same fiber network, all of the normal troubleshooting.....no improvement.

My CCA works perfectly with Google Play Music. No stuttering, no popping, no playback issues at all, so the setup is perfect.

I really want to like Deezer (ie give you my money....), but lack of CCA implementation is a show stopper for me as well.

Any hope?
In the past few days, I've experienced problems playing songs on Chromecast Audio (Android, A5 2017). Every 5 to 10 sec playback pause of 1 sec appears.

HI @scott.goetz sorry about that. We have had problems with Chromecast on iPhone and Android, since you talk about a MacBook Pro I need to ask you to give us more information about the behaviour. What do you mean exactly with "skipping and popping"? Would you mind describing this in more detail please?
Which Mac OS do you have installed?

Mac OS 10.13.6 High Sierra (latest update). Occasionally (usually every 2-3 songs) a cracking or popping noise happens, sometimes in the left speaker, sometime the right - it is electronic noise, similar to when you plug a speaker in while the amp is powered on. Skipping/stuttering - just like when a vinyl record skips, the playback is not continuous and smooth.

I have tried 3 different cables from chromecast to amp. Two different power cables to the Chromecast. I have unplugged any other sources of rf/wifi interference (Roku, etc). I have tried 2 different Chromecast Audios. I have tried 2 completely different systems in two different rooms, one location about 5 feet from the router.

Google Play Music works perfectly in all of the configurations. Deezer exhibits the same issues with every configuration. So I can confidently say it is a Deezer issue, not a HW issue.
Same issue here. We have 2 accounts (1 premium, 1 HiFi since you don't offer HiFi family accounts...). Many very short pauses during the playback on a CCA with the hifi account. Please solve or I'll have to look elsewhere. I don't mind the extra cost but with a subpar CCA experience and a subpar Android Auto (where are all the buttons??) Experience it's not worth it.
Hello Deezer,
Sadly, time passes by (days, weeks and months...) and Deezer is still uncapable of making Chromecast work without issues.
10 years using Deezer, I even have Deezer Family 😞 ... but it seems all love comes to an end! Specially when one sees how smoothly Spotify and other competitors work perfectly with Chromecast.
Deezer Support, please give us a real solution. It's 2019!!!
Best regards.

Yep, agree 100% with everyone else. I have Deezer premium, and suffer dropouts through Chromecast Audio (only via toslink to my DAC - not when the CCA DAC is used). Also agree with 'loading' issue - files can sometimes take ages before the CCA starts streaming.

I've been considering upgrading to Deezer HiFi, but not until I could sort out the dropouts issue. I thought it was my wifi at first, and was even looking into range extenders. Then luckily I tried a free trial to Tidal HIFI. This streams much higher bitrate flawlessly with no dropouts and no 'loading' delays. The problem is 100% Deezer.

Judging by this thread, it looks like this issue has been known for a long time. Am surprised you guys have let it go on for so long.

I've been a loyal Deezer user for years now. Hope you guys can fix it soon. Until then, I'll be using Tidal HiFi. Hope I don't have to make that switch permanent.

Ciao
Same here, random stuttering on Chromecast Audio on Deezer Android
Other content plays fine.
Few weeks in my paid subscription, don't know if to continue next month 😞

I have a piece of advice, screw it Deezer. Isn't it enough that he hasn't been able to solve this problem for 3 years? My solution is to broadcast the voice on Google home, the only disadvantage is that it transfers all your telephone voices, but it does it instantly. This is the proof that the application is wrong. It's obvious they can't. They keep reporting that we have developed the Chromecast, nothing has changed.

Hi there @Robert Van de Wiel

Thanks for reaching out. We're aware of that connection issue.

Well, we haven't been given a specific date yet but some mechanisms were already introduced to our Beta apps - so the team hasn't stopped working on it. We're expecting more updates about this before the end of December - very exciting times for us, as we expect the new integration to offer more and be much more stable. Thank you for your support and for your patience 👍🏼

@Rudi  Any news?      I tried Deezer again today - didn’t get more than 5 minutes of music through a chromecast audio before it stopped - switched to the Google home integration which worked briefly until I tried to skip a song and then it stopped and did nothing. I gave up.

I’ve cancelled Tidal (no Google Integration), cancelled Spotify (awful chromecast integration, stupid design choices)  so it’s between Deezer and YT Music if Deezer can sort out casting.    YT Music is well behind Deezer in so many ways, but at least the cast integration and Google home integration works *all* the time.

I have several speakers and a HiFi receiver that use Chromecast. Having a HiFi stream was a great a solution for my setup. However, the Deezer application is not stable with Chromecast. By the way the only way I can enjoy HiFi streaming from Deezer is to cast it via Chromecast. So, with a poor solution for an issue long ago raised I am going to have to leave Deezer and go to Youtube Music. I was hoping to avoid that, I am happy though that I had 30 days to test this out as I will now be canceling my subscription. By the way I was set to pay for an entire year with one payment, looks like Deezer loses that $.
I'm facing a lot of "crackles/clicks" while I'm listening Deezer on my Chromecast audio. If I remember well, ir started in last December. Before I thought was Chromecast, but it is not, since I used Spotify on it and has worked fine. Please, you should take a look on that. It really makes me sad 😕

Just cancelled hifi subscription for all the above reasons you should sack your app development team
Rise up people! I did the same..... to hell with this.
hi there,

had many of the problems of Chromecast-Audio-to-Deezer-incompatibility mentioned by above contributors. I have been trying and re-re-re-trying Deezer Hifi on Android 8.0 to Chromecast Audio for over a year and it has now become clear to me: Deezer is incompatible with Chromecast Audio. Full stop! or at least it is so unpredictable/uncontrollable and buggy, that it is useless for streaming Deezer.

It should actually be a minor software problem to solve, as other streaming services have done. The only way I can explain the persistence of the problem, is that Deezer and Google have unresolved financial/commercial disagreements, to which neither wants to give in. After all both have their own music streaming services and are not inclined to make life easy to their competitor.

So yes, I stop trying and use now other music services, which are no hindrance to enjoying music.

I've just upgraded my account to HiFi tier and it was a big mistake. I stream music via Chromecast Audio to speakers and it's main  and the most important function for me. Unfortunately this function is completely useless in Dezeer. I see info "loading" very often, it's impossible to listen music. I'm very disappointed. I had Tidal HiFi earlier and there is no comparison to it. I like layout of Dezeer but if you don't fix the problem I have to return to Tidal. Interestingly, this problem doesn't  occur so often at HQ tier.

they've just deleted the longest thread on this topic!!! dam, this is getting bad.

https://en.deezercommunity.com/other-devices-49/chromecast-issue-collection-20614 😉

I recently switched to Deezer from Youtube music. The chromecast issues are making it a bad experience - interrupted playback, bad sound quality, lack of control of playback due to connection dropout on the phone.

On top of that, I do not understand that basic functionality like adding a playlist to the active queue does not work from the android app - only from a PC browser.

So far it’s not been a happy switch :-(

Hi, the Chromecast connection is still being fixed and updated to a new version, but not released yet. Maybe your Denon AVR is able to use Chromecast instead of a Bluetooth connection?

@Rudi, I understand you are personally caught between customer pressure who want quality functionality and a dev team who think the amount of work spent trying to provide it can be used as an excuse for their lack of tangible results.

Honestly, as a paying customer, how long would you be prepared to listen to a dealer PR telling you they’ve been unsuccessfully putting a lot of time and work into trying to fit a windshield on that car you purchased? What if they told you they’ve undertaken a major dashboard overhaul to fix the issue? How long would you bear with them?

Paying customers won’t give you A for effort long, I’m afraid.

Obviously the project isn’t being professionally run with the right competencies on board.

It seems to me the least Deezer can do is compensate those of us who’ve been driving without a windshield. And then officially state that casting to CC is but a beta feature for now.

Any thoughts?

Best.

I will also say goodbye soon. I can no longer cast to my high end hifi Naim systems so why would I keep Deezer? Chromecast has had many issues for a very long time. Moreover, lack of communication and commitment. In the French community we got all kind of communications until they stopped communicating about this problem. It's amazing.

I will cancel my premium membership in a week.
