 Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

 What should I post here? :thinking:

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

I'm so exciting! Better desktop app (including W11 widget and focus integration) and better Alexa skill are two things I miss the most!

I got an error again in the win10 app. After restarting the app, I had to login again, but now the app keeps going back to a white login screen after authentication in chrome so I can’t use it anymore.

update: I saw 2 deezer instances running in task manager. I waited a couple of minutes until they were gone and now the app works again 🙂.

I also noticed before that after an error and quiting deezer, it was still using 100% of 1 thread for a long time until I manually quit the process in task manager.

FYI

Win11 desktop app.

I have been having issues with the app crashing when you try to move the window.

Noticed that it was using the GPU rather than the intel processor standard graphics.

 

Changed the windows “System\Display\Graphics” to force it to use “Power Saving” mode, now its using the normal gpu, and its not crashing anymore.

  • genuine question: Is anyone from the devs working on bugs?
    It’s just that in the 2 years that I’ve used your service, none of these bugs seem to be resolved or they reappear with new updates.
    I understand that it can’t be easy with a small team, but I can’t keep justifying paying a premium price for software that feels like it’s stuck in alpha.

    examples:
    - Multiple random daily crashes that requires restarting the app and browsing to the playlist and song that was playing.
    - Songs that won’t download.
    - Artists and songs get recommended while I flagged them as “don’t recommend” (months ago)
    - After update or random login prompt, the app is blank or It gets stuck in a failed login loop.
    This blank screen also sometimes happens when resizing the window.
    - After removing a song from a playlist and then selecting another song in the playlist, a different song starts playing and the whole playlist seems broken until restarting the app.

Today trying to go to any artist page in the windows (10) app returns an error “An error occurred, please try again later.” Restarting the app doesn’t fix it.
The artist pages in the webplayer work though.

Hi, chromecast don’t work for me. I click in the icon from the web app (google chrome) and nothing happens! It’s a bug? Thanks.

Deezer unfortunately has too many bugs that ruin the experience and do not justify the price, which is higher than all other streaming services in my country, Greece. Sadly, I have already paid for a whole year of Deezer. I’m quite disappointed.

Same here. I’ve tried the suggested “uninstall and reinstall, clear browser cache and cookies” to no avail. Android app shows album and author page, but Desktop app on Windows refuses to do so, and the web interface refuses to show it as well.

This has been going on for a while now.

The Favourites pages refuses to work

Windows store app 5.30.60 running on Windows 11

The sub-menu (Favourite tracks, etc.) works well.

 

I also get to see the offline error message (title bar) quite often on the PC. But the music is still playing and it disappears after a while.

Weirdly the error message is not visible on the screenshot, but that is a Windows bug ;)

App V5.30.560

OS : Win10 Pro

Dual Screen (both 100%)

 

Start Deezer, move the window around -=> Crash 100% within 5s of starting window drag

Actually I just tried, it crashes on a single screen as well, but it takes a little more jiggling of the window.

Desktop stopped working (again) on MacOS, uninstalled it and tried installing the latest. It fails to run as the MacOS security “can’t check the app for malicious software” so blocks it. Made an exception for the new version Deezer, still fails to open fully and crashes out.

 

Re-installed version 4.18.70, that works but is quite old at this stage.

 

Guys, this isn't rocket science, it’s only software development. Android, iOS, Linux, MacOS & Windows all have a simple policies for developers to follow to ensure backward/forward compatibility.

 

Has anyone else had an issue with the newer versions of desktop Deezer on a Mac?

There is no more flow in windows desktop app, it still exists in webplayer though.

I am running Windows 10 22H2 and it worked before, but now both versions do not start anymore.

I have tried reinstallment, this did not work. Clearing cache also did nothing for me.

 

I hope there will be a fix for this!

Listening history does not seem to be updating (I think this has actually been a problem for some time), at least without fully closing and reopening the application. However, when you try to play a track directly from your listening history, it seems that the track that plays is the track with the same offset into your actual listening history as the one you clicked, so if you’ve played some more tracks since the list loaded, the wrong song plays.

e.g. when you first open your listening history, it might show:

Song C

Song B

Song A

If you now play Song D, the listening history does not update to show it. However, if you click to play Song C from your listening history (the most recent song in the list), Song D will play (as it was the most recent song you actually listened to), and if you click Song B, it will play Song A.

If you now listen to Song E, everything in the list will now be two songs off, so clicking Song C will play Song A, etc.

If not, please try to delete cache again, temporary files, any data corrupted data from previous installations and them run a clean install using this link - HERE

I have found the issue indeed. There was an incompatibility with a third party theme tool I use, named WindowBlinds.

Due to a different theme being selected, Deezer could not start. After adding Deezer to the exceptions within WindowBlinds, the app started working again.

Here, the songs in my listening history initially are ‘Shore: The Fellowship of the Ring’ and ‘Theme from Jurassic Park’, and playing them from the listening history list works correctly.

I then listen to ‘Opening Titles’ from the Jurassic Park soundtrack.

Returning to my listening history, this song doesn’t show in the list (unless I refresh the page). However, if I play the first item in my history (supposedly still ‘Shore’), it actually plays ‘Opening Titles’, and playing ‘Theme from Jurassic Park’ from the history plays ‘Shore’.

Hello @Mithent thanks for video and details.

Indeed, our team and myself managed to reproduce the same issue. According to our developers, seems that the “recent listen history” updates the content, but displays the wrong information.

Incident was opened and you will get an email from me that will be linked to that issue.

As soon as a fix is launched you will get in the days afterwards an communication from our support informing the fix.

Web player Windows desktop notification for now playing song doesn’t work properly. It appears 2 times, firstly with right artist name plus cover and track title from the previous song, the second time with all info correct.

Example on gif, songs played: Rainbow “The Temple of the King” → Rush “Tom Sawyer”

 

Still not fixed!  :(

Did you try to clean cache and cookies on your browser?

If you use different browsers or incognito mode, do you have the same issue?

Finally, do you experience the same issue on the Desktop app?
