Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

What should I post here?

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version of Deezer :floppy_disk:

Hey hey Sir!! I have not tried a re-install! One Q, I hope my Library/Fav-songs do not disappear?! I believe my streaming is set on 320 KB, you want me to go to lower level?

Hello @jav_n, reinstalling won’t affect your library  And yes, you can try 128 kbps for instance.

Windows 10 Pro - 1909

AMD Ryzen 3400G - 16GB RAM

Deezer 4.24.0 - Installed by Microsoft store

Deezer HiFi subscription

RAM usage after 1 hour and 15 minutes:

Reinstalled Deezer and delte all old files » no change » still big ram usage

:grimacing:

Update to Windows 10 - 2004

After 25 minutes:

sometimes (10% = every 10. track) it happens, that in play list the track is not shown which is playing:

klick to next track and it works again:

GPU usage up to 10%:

I used Amazon Music, Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify too, but such bad applicationi never see before:-(.

Hey @Roadi

Thanks for your report. Generally our app is really hungry, but sometimes it's too high and a fresh reinstall does the job.

Could you try this version here:

A fresh installation helps ? I have written i reinstalled it and i doesn´t help  … or you mean every  1 hour ? 😉 So closing and reopen is faster….

Your link will download “ DeezerDesktopSetup_4.24.0.exe” . But I have already installed Deezer 4.24.0 . That i have written in my post. Do you really read the posts ?

So looks like you have not a good solution…. but i am pleased that my money which i pay to Deezer works to 100% ;without any issues .

@Roadi please try the version (same one as you have), but not from the store - that's what I meant. Apologies if you misunderstood.

Some users have reported that the app's usage decreases after reinstalling it. I have now passed your comments and specs to our developers, thank you :v_tone2:

I’ve recently updated to Deezer desktop (Windows) v4.24.0 and `Top tracks` are now limited to 40 tracks.

However, once any track from the ‘Top Tracks’ is playing, Queue is populated with 40+ tracks of the selected artist.

Could you please revert the change that limits `Top Tracks` search results to 40 tracks?

We're working on the next releases with other bug fixes @xzhorikx thank you for reporting this - it shouldn't be a limit there.

Are you on Windows?

Hello @Alex Spaseni, sounds like you’re using a previous version of the app that indeed had this problem. Use those links to update it to the version that fixed this issue:

Mac: https://www.deezer.com/desktop/download/artifact/darwin/x64/4.19.30
Windows: https://www.deezer.com/desktop/download/artifact/win32/x86/4.19.30

Have a nice day

I had the same issue for a long while and can confirm the update fixed this issue.

Hullo, recently joined Deezer hifi subscriber here.

Windows 10 v 2004. 100 Mb/s connection.

  • Just to report that stuttering playback at the start of HiFi quality song streams persists on client version 4.25.0. I can confirm that changing quality to “Better” resolves the issue.
  • Issue reported by @shustry (that reported smart cache size is always “0”) also persists.

Thanks for your efforts.

Desktop version 4.25.0

Queue doesn’t display properly for long lists (in my case ~280 tracks).

What I mean is that the queue list scrolls and then stops at an arbitrary point. I made it to the letter B before it stops. If I then zoom out via the menu > view option this fixes the queue and ‘adds more’ to the list. If I then revert back to the original zoom…. the list when have ‘bottomed out’ at the new point.

This seems to be fixed by simply zooming out.

macOS Mojave 10.14.6

Deezer Version 4.25.0 (4.25.0.129)

Playlist: https://deezer.page.link/btJzEXazmv4EDjCz5

First track I played today using High Fidelity had the issue.
https://deezer.page.link/6di9vURQLvcfPeE79

I’ve tried foing a full uninstall and trying 4.25, same thing.

FWIW, I only started using Deezer recently (within last two weeks), and the very first version of the app I downloaded was the same I’m using now, 4.25.0 (4.25.0.129).

All reported @Ellias Appel @Dave.Farmer thank you so much for your support!

Have you tested the app for Win 10. It is shockingly clunky and buggy. Here are few of the issues I have found using this for about 10 minutes

  1. When dragging and dropping tracks to reorder in a playlist the edge scrolling with the mouse rarely works and then only if you get the mouse cursor in a sweet spot of a couple of pixels.
  2. After reordering a playlist the internal order must be cached. If I select a track it will play the track the was in that position when I first opened the app and not the one shown in the list. I have quit and reopen the app to correct this.
  3. When I delete a track from a playlist I get no message stating the track has been deleted and it remains in the playlist. If I close the app and reopen it the track as been deleted?? This behavior is the same for track deletion via the individual track context menu or via the multiple track delete action button at the top of the list.

I’ve not found the Web UI much better.

FYI I’m new to Deezer as I currently looking for a replacement to YTM so trialing a few alternatives. I like the look of Deezer and you have a great features but the UI is very buggy. I’m surprised this made it passed a developers basic unit test let alone to a final polished app with basic UI bugs like this.

@Rudi Sorry I thought I replied before but I guess I never submitted.

To be clear (because the title of this forum is a bit different from what I’m experiencing), the app doesn’t neccesarily freeze. It is more or less a buffering issue of the track that starts to play. Within the first second, you hear milliseconds of the track play, playback stops, track buffers, and then continues to play without any buffering.

Again, this only happens when using high-fidelity, not best or any other quality.

I only started using deezer within the last month, and 4.25 was already the latest to download.

I’m running macOS Mojave 10.14.6.

For giggles, last week I did try uninstalling Deezer completely and re-download 4.25, same issue.

Today, I saw 4.26 got released. Same issue continues to occur, as figured.

I’m testing this by playing a playlist, and playing tracks just for the first 5 seconds and hitting next. Today, after downloading 4.26, the very first track that played had this occur. Continued to listen to the playlist, 2-3 tracks down the list it happened again.

I’m happy to do a debugging session over zoom (or any other video conferencing app) if anyone on your end is willing. Otherwise, let me know if you want me to capture any logs.

@Rudi

I have two of the same exact laptop (one for work, one for personal), happens on both.

HI

Just a warning that my Deezer app is burning gigs of data when i listen to songs that are supposedly downloaded to my local drive. Its occurring on my both my desktop and laptop. It just went through 5gb of data when i was listening over the past hour. this is crazy. It ate through 500GB of data in 3 days. I have a premium capped fiber account which is ran out of data because of the Deezer app. This must be a bug.

I followed deezer response to uninstall reinstall and re download, but its still burning through data when connected and doesnt play properly if i cut the internet to the app.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop @Max.Heera we'll pass this info to our devs for their consideration. It could be a bug, yes.

Could you please give us details on your network, system specs and app version?

Hey @aatac copied you here, all forwarded on :thumbsup_tone2:

I can confirm that this issue also persists in v 4.26 in Windows 2004 (build 19041.572).

Subjectively, it seems like the buffering issue is most prevalent when on playlists or flow. Playing full albums doesn’t seem to produce the behaviour as much, or possibly at all. I’ll listen lots of albums today and see.

Buffering issue is also present when playing albums, it’s not just a playlist issue.
