Why does Chromecast not work?


I am trying to cast to my Chromecast on Nvidia Shield. It starts up and then stops with a message that someone else must be listening. There is no one else. Why doesn't casting work?

Yula, can you please tell us what the situation is regarding the Chromecast fix? It is now the 14th day that the function has ceased to function. For example, for me, it is the only way to take full advantage of hifi quality and that is why I subscribed to Deezer. Now I'm paid for something that doesn't work and I can't use it. Can you please tell us all how much longer we have to wait?

Personally, I gave up: I now switched to Tidal and discontinued the Deezer paid account.

I have the same issue. Chromecast not working since yesterday. App is not playing on other devices. Other chromecast enabled apps work fine. Deezer, please fix this! It is obviously an app bug

Hello! Since yesterday we can’t connect to our Chromecast. (It is a Deezer issue because Spotify works🙁) 

We deleted the app, changed password but still nothing!

At this point I wouldn’t hold out hope for a fix here. It’s not an app issue since installing old versions of the app doesn’t fix the problem, but a back-end / authentication issue between Deezer and Google. Since it doesn’t affect the majority of Deezer’s users I’m afraid aesthetic tweaks and quick-win new features will continue to be prioritized by a struggling development team over core functionality like HiFi device support, which is what I consider this to be.

I have been having this issue, as reported several times here, since February, with LG speaker. I have now had to buy a different speaker. Thanks for nothing Deezer, such poor service.

Chromecast streaming has stopped working for a more than a week now. Please fix this Deezer! Casting is the main reason to have (paid) subscription. Casting was never great, but usually acceptable. Now that it has stopped altogether I’m considering switching to another service.

As an update to my question, I can confirm that after installing the latest Deezer update (7.03.43) this morning, my Chromecast Audio works once again. However, my Gen 1 Chromecast (cast firmware: 1.36.159268) still doesn't work. The symptoms are the same as before - Deezer app says it's connecting, just a few more seconds, then times out after 60 seconds. The Chromecast appears to be triggered, but the screen stays black and Deezer doesn't start on it. It too times out and reverts to its screen saver after about a minute. 

 

@Yula Can you please get an update from the developers on this?

I'm beginning to wonder if Deezer will ever work again via Chromecast. So I created an account on Tidal and copied my entire library through Soundiiz, and I now have a 30-day trial hifi version, and playing via Chromecast works just fine.

This morning, Deezer Chromecast is working. From iPad to JBL soundbar.

I didn't try from Android to Pioneer speaker. 

I will try during the day

And still nothing working with my Harman Kardon speakers. This is ridiculous, I had the bad idea to purchase a one year family subscription, and I can't use it for 3 months. Needless to say that I will never spend a cent on Deezer for the rest of my life.

Looks like I'm going to have to take this back, at least partially. I just tried casting to my Chromecast dongle (1st generation, firmware 1.36.159268) and it failed. Rebooting the dongle didnt help. My Google TV devices still work...

Yes! The fifth day!!! of their service is not fully operational and Deezer has still not commented on this, which I consider to be scandalous behaviour towards his paying customers! I set up an account on Tidal and I'm transferring all the performers and playlists there. I expect compensation from Deezer.

Interestingly if I set the default speaker for my LG WK7 speaker to another speaker (just using the LG for voice commands and the other speaker to actually play the music) it works. Definitely seems to be an issue with some devices on gen 1 cast firmware

Deezer is certainly clearer and has better recommendations. That's the end of it. Tidal is cheaper, has Tidal connect, gapless, playlist folders and record labels information. If you learn to work with it, there's no reason to go back.

Since Rudi left, communication that the Deezer side has deteriorated rapidly and now that this is a really big problem, it is zero. Very disappointing for me.

Deezer doesn't work withs googlecast audio devices since months.

I canceled my subscription again.

Deezer worked yesterday/sometimes with

  • Google Chromecast Video 2. Gen.  1.56.275994

.. but that's not useful to hear with a Video Device with turned on TV

I have the same problem in some devices from 3 days! I don’t have deezer playing on other device.

if I play deezer on my phone, I don’t have any problems. If I try to cast on chromecast devices, I have errror!

I also can't get Deezer through Chromecast, the other apps are working, something must have happened.
