After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings

Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart 💜?
One comment cited there is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logo

The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat.

Another question was “why did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?”

Deezer helps you “be and belong,” going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.

Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it.

The choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.

Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.

The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.

We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts 💜.

I’m moving to Apple Music now. Bad move Deezer. No one likes such a drastic change. I am baffled that anyone at Deezer found this new design a great idea, objectively speaking. To me it looks like politics got involved.

Exactly as paetkaa says, I migrated from Spotify to Deezer specifically because at the time Spotify’s UI was very bad and Deezer’s was super clean and simple. Now it’s a cartoonish bright purple mess that’s harder to navigate and look at and read. At least if the purple could be changed to some muted color, the red was fine. Title font looks childish, logo looks like a dating app and the whole branding is lost. Now it’s like any other generic app...

100% agreement.

When I was deciding what app to stream, I chose Deezer because the UI/UX look was almost perfect.

This shoddy re-design ruined it all.

It was time for a change (I'm going to look for a tool to transfer my data to someone else).

I love Deezer. I am loyal. Vive la France.

But the purple heart is terrible. I think Deezer has done rebranding in 2014 and 2018. So maybe by 2029 they can restore some order and make the music app look like a good music app. There was no need to ruin it if the last UI just needed some mild modifications. Deezer will look back at this and admit that they paid too much and got too little out of this rebranding. Also, if you want to rebrand, call a New York or Los Angeles studio. What weird Euro company designed that weird purple heart?

I’ve been a user for over 15 years. I have never participated in a forum before, even in the years when the algorithm went crazy and recommended pure commercial BS.
This new visual identity is so poor that I felt the need of joining to give my feedback. I am glad other people are also pointing it out. Get rid of the cheap heart. It makes no sense to completely kill the identity. It is not possible that an executive looked into this and thought it was a great idea, unless the designer is a part of his family.

The design itself is "fine", probably not better, but not worse either (except for the weird font, but that might take some time to get used to). What I really hate is the icon. When I first saw it, I thought it was part of some kind of event, but when I found out it was part of a whole new visual identity, I couldn't believe it… As others have said, it looks like a dating app.

+100500 !

I'm having trouble playing songs - playback keeps stopping (Android).
Have we been slipped a raw beta?

Vojto, trošku soudnosti, redesign je opravdu nepovedený.

Jo, mohlo to dopadnout o hodně líp, ale hodně negativních ohlasů bude asi spíš kvůli tomu, že je to šok.

But we should probably be talking in English as everyone here :D

Paid user since 2018, maybe not for much longer if this is not fixed by Christmas holidays when I will have time to migrate. Do not like: the logo, dreadful colour scheme, weird curved buttons or serif heavy fonts. If I trialled a few other music apps along with this one , this would 100% no longer be choosen. Checking alternative subscription costs and app UI’s from this evening onwards… This is a bit of a “Windows 8” redesign.

This design is terrible. I hate purple.

As a long-time Deezer user I’m really disappointed by what I see here. Instead of making functional changes, fixing long-outstanding bugs and adding features their users have repeatedly asked for, Deezer appears to have spent considerable effort on destroying their established brand and transforming the interface from something generally professional and polished looking into something that looks bloated, unprofessional and juvenile.

Hope this feedback will get to the product team.
As a product designer, need to admit - my favorite app looks awful now, starting with logo, fonts (some styles are missing in other languages), mess with the icons (different line width and proportions). Previous coral color was much better than new purple (distracting eyes). All UI elements are bigger - no free space left. UI is too crowded.

Think it’s  time to fire your design lead. Please bring back old version or make toggle to switch.

I totally agree, this change is failure on so many levels… Visually so unpleasant and distracting… Please at least make toggle to switch to old version.

Alternatives are available Deezer: https://www.householdmoneysaving.com/the-cheapest-music-streaming-service-in-the-uk/

Please at least give a mono option button to remove the purple!

I already changed my streaming service.

it's not enough. Back to what I was watching and listening to yesterday!

Ha! Česká komunita 😁

Anyway - the worst part of redesign is the icon.

This is absolutely terrible why didn’t you leave it as it was which looked slick and professional. Which teenage work experience student did you get to design this?

Правильное решение , у меня тоже есть подписка Apple Music и там станции (flow) просто прекрасны , из станции просто уходить не хочется , включают то что я слушаю .

Not a fan of the new GUI on Windows and I’m not surprised many users agree with that.

Maybe you can enable themes instead of forcing users to deal with this hello kitty UI?

And let me not start with all other issues with the app but a UI  change was the last thing I was expecting to see given the amount of bugs the app currently has.

Trying not to be mean but whoever created the new app icon should be fired. I was wondering who installed a hear-rate/cardio app on my phone until i realized after restarting the phone that it’s not a glitch whatsoever, this thing is real, it’s the new deezer app…. Brand identity hello?

My 2 cents….Hi-fi user ….

Hello everyone,

For me, the first association when look at the new Deezer logo is that application is made for dating and to find love through social network… That is just awful, and I hope they will change it as soon as possible… Really disappointing…

Best regards

Right. They want it to be a about coming together through music but this to me does the opposite. It is much more for niche group which means many will be turned off by it and less connected. I'm 40 and this looks like something for kids now. Maybe that's just the main demographic but I know a lot of people who switched off Spotify but they went to tidal.  This change would do little to get new customers in that group. But again if it's all about younger generation then maybe that's what the app is for now.

Adding to the list, they still do not ship an Apple Silicon version of this app for Macs. In one post here, one of the CM of Deezer said almost 1 year ago that they were working on a “new desktop app”. I’m guessing it’s this one, but it still does not support the Macs released after 2020 at decent speeds.

In another one was that the desktop app development has been stopped. Because of 6.0 has been released with the new design, someone is still working on it. So, he/she/whatever could fix some of them. It can't be so tough.

It really is bad. And rather than adding new things, they took stuff away! You can't see the album release date anymore by swiping the album cover. Instead it just makes the album cover slightly smaller… wtf is even the point??

You can’t easily see how many users like an album. Not crucial for me, but I noticed! We users notice when typefaces switch to BOLD and information gets pushed to hard to find places.

Hi.

I use Deezer for already very long time and i must say that this new appearance on 1st impression was lil bit negative, but after few sec or min i got used to it and i realized actually that it was like made for me.

About color: That is my greatest combination, i love that combination of black and purple, i have a feeling like you made Deezer just for me, and thank God for that. I am aware that black purple isnt everyones 1st choice, but what can you do? When some other combination of colors was used, i got used to it even if its not my 1st choice, so ppl stop whining and get used to it.

I would only love 1 thing to be added in new Deezer and that is a place on the left, in the mid, where it is written “Playlists” and sign “+” is on the right from it. I wish it would be nice for us users to select what we want to see on that place. I personally dont use Playlists at all, i use Downloads all the time, so an option to select what user want to see in that spot would be nice. Therefore i would select for myself Downloads, while someone else could select something else.

Anyway once again ty for puting black purple combo, i really enjoy it!

The app now looks like it targets teen girls!

And new logo looks like a cheap version of a dating site for teens.

I had to remove this from my screen. It would be a shame if someone saw such an icon on my phone.

I don 't like your new design . can I switch to the old one?

I have the same wish, but I suppose it won't be possible, time to say goodbye to Deezer after X years. Much more expensive than Spotify/Apple music and now the absolute ugliest.

Fire the designer who designed it or cut off his hands so he can never create anything like it again.
