Been with deezer since 2015 and what happened today was a downgrade. I have always loved deezer. But I feel that's gonna come to an end soon..

Agreed, it looks like edgy skin for music player from 2005, truly horrible. Purple is clearly mistake, it’s least liked color by men and top 2 most hated color by men after brown. I mean feminism and everything but alienating half the population of earth is probably not the most inclusive nor financially smart decision. Even pink was way better, I didn’t hate it. Also new font for logo and album titles is pain to read, you have to exert effort to read it.

Please add switch to old UI.

The main font you are using for the headers is literally the fortnite font which is very popular and hard to disassociate.

Oh dear, what a load of 💩

I don't care Deezer, what I want is to pay to stream music without the corporate branding offending my eyes.

I don't want a quiz, or an 'experience' or to connect emotionally.

Other than Flow, you can keep the rest of the  garbage that you have decided to come up with - stick it all on a different tier of membership and see how many people choose it.

Agreed

The new logo is absolute trash and doesn't convey "music". It looks like childish or like knock off dating app for non binary unicorns. You guys are going to get absolutely crushed with this rebrand.

Premium subscriber since 2018, HiFi subscriber since 2021. Spent around 800€ on Deezer since joining.

Cancelled my subscription today. The new icon makes it look like a cheap dating app. The UI with the huge amounts of padding everywhere was what sealed the deal though, I think. The font and colour scheme I could have lived with, maybe, but they murdered the UI in general.

Also agree here,

The app itself looks nice but the logo does not

Deezer must be desperate to take chances like this, deezer knew this would be alienating part of their userbase and did it anyway in a hope that the total amount of subscribers would be higher. Deezer have not made any features for years that maked the service communicating with other devices. The dysfunctional deezer connect features was a joke, hit and miss working chromecast etc. This has been a disaster in the making. The only thing holding me back from changing streaming service was Deezers best UI. Now is nothing holding me back changing services. They have gone from the best UI to the worst UI. Deezer got 10 days to revert this uglyness, before I cancel my subscription. Maybe I cancel the subscriptions anyway, because this company clearly doesnt have the prioritize right. The countdown has begone

Paid user since 2018, maybe not for much longer if this is not fixed by Christmas holidays when I will have time to migrate. Do not like: the logo, dreadful colour scheme, weird curved buttons or serif heavy fonts. If I trialled a few other music apps along with this one , this would 100% no longer be choosen. Checking alternative subscription costs and app UI’s from this evening onwards… This is a bit of a “Windows 8” redesign.

I absolutely agree. It looks awful, from the new logo, to the nonsensical information in the left panel (I really don't want to see my playlist there), it's slower and it's just hideous, oh yeah.

Previous design was awsome (Im web developer and i loved it ...)
Im still looking reason why stay with Deezer (its gotten very expensive (compared to Spotify) and now its  even uglier …

Can you old LUXURY design take it back???

Userlevel 1

I mean its pretty obvious even from the poll on this forum, apparently an astronomic 86% of the community thinks this is the worst design they have ever seen… so no matter how much you want to view it as such, your users arent “divided”, really... if we are being honest, your community seems to just straight up hate it. And that should really make you think, if sticking to the changes despite this feedback is the way to go, just because you’ve invested time and money in making the new look, and because backtracking always feels and looks bad… in some situations, its perhaps better to cut your losses and trash the new project.

The logo, font and colour palette... though honestly to me they look like something somebody threw together in half an hour (personal opinion though, im not a designer), that isnt even the thing that I dislike the most. The worst thing is that those changes, combined with the changes to your UI, somehow make your app feel much less clear and intuitive, and more cluttered and stuffy… even though perhaps the intentions were the complete opposite.

I have quite a few friends who use deezer… everyone out of 10+ people strongly dislike the new look to a varying degree... some are seriously considering switching to a different app, despite it being a hassle for them. And for the first time in many, many years, i am thinking about it myself. This is ofcourse a small size sample, and as with everything I wrote, is an opinion. But opening the forums with the intent to write this post, and seeing all the topics made about it already... I feel its pretty representative.

Its obvious that the intent of the changes are to attract a younger audience, nothing wrong with that. But the specific way and changes that you chose, I wonder if you wont in the long run be loosing much more than you are gaining. If its not completely impossible from a technical point of view, even making the old UI available as a feature, would seem like a great solution.

I almost never bother to write posts like this, or even make an account on communities for apps i use. But ive been with Deezer for almost 10 years now… and I felt that the changes are abysmal enough, that i have to write something. I do love the app, I love the way it introduces me to new music, and I I love the features that have made me choose Deezer over other similar apps through the years. So i really hope this isnt going to be the long term bad decision for the app that it feels like it is at the moment.

Whatever your long term vision is for the app, dont forget that its your users who decide if thats what they want to pay for. Hopefully you dont learn that lesson the hard way.

All the best,

long time user

Honestly I don't like the logo nor the font. And the app has some issues now.

The auto scrolling forcing to either hide or show the album art makes it more complicated to use, phones are huge, and the music app I used to use it with one hand, now it has to be two hands.

The shuffle button in some parts is in the top right corner, also complicated to reach.

I think you ruin your brand, it looks like a bad dating app not a music app. I change the logo (Android user benefit). But the functionality of the app, that's not something I can fix.

This doesn’t clarify. This is absolutely pants if I’m honest. The font choice is awful, the logo is just as bad. The play/skip/rewind and all little buttons have an awful curve to them. I struggled to find the playlists I wanted for a while. This feels really cheap if I’m honest. I’ve had Deezer for years, since maybe 2016. Between these years I’ve used Spotify on the odd occasion when I’ve had a few free months premium on it. This change has now completely justified my move to Spotify. As of 2024 I’ll be off this platform. Incredibly disappointed with the change as are many others :/

Who on their right mind approved this UI? This UI is terrible..  the logo is a mess. The font looks like their squashed pls undo this.. Its actually ruining my experience.

Not a fan of the new GUI on Windows and I’m not surprised many users agree with that.

Maybe you can enable themes instead of forcing users to deal with this hello kitty UI?

And let me not start with all other issues with the app but a UI  change was the last thing I was expecting to see given the amount of bugs the app currently has.

Trying not to be mean but whoever created the new app icon should be fired. I was wondering who installed a hear-rate/cardio app on my phone until i realized after restarting the phone that it’s not a glitch whatsoever, this thing is real, it’s the new deezer app…. Brand identity hello?

My 2 cents….Hi-fi user ….

this looks like a rip off of spotify and crimes against ui design. please let me revert to the old one

I was shocked and disturbed this morning when I woke up and looked at my phone and all of my beautiful rainbow bar Deezer playlists are now a giant blur of purple crap on the bottom half of my phone screen. I've been themeing my phone in beautiful rainbow colors around those Deezer icons that used to be there ever since I've signed up for the account. I loved the rainbow bar icon. I hate the giant purple smear that it is now. I can't find where to change this in my phone. I'm on an older version of android and I just want the rainbow bars icon back, please! This looks TERRIBLE!

HELP, please.

I agree the logo is not great but what really perturbs me is the total upset of the UI. I have no idea how to operate the program anymore. Why in the world would they totally change the operation of an app that no one was complaining about.  Its incredible to me that so many times a company will make a change to the detriment of a product just because some idiot had to justify his job and come up with a new “idea”.

I would hope that due to the overwhelming amount of negative PAYING CUSTOMER feedback they are receiving they will reverse their change and bring back the old UI. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them try and issue some BS statement that they are getting positive response when EVERYTHING I have seen is negative.

If you fix the completely broken Chromecast support and add gapless playback, I will stop complaining about the ugly interface.

They will never do that. Some examples are:

  • Deezer Connect has not worked correctly since launch;
  • Gapless and Discord Rich Presence are the most voted features and never made it;
  • The API is very old and obsolete;
  • The APP on PC is still a simple Electron app;
  • There are many bugs in the PC application that were reported a long time ago and have not yet been fixed;
  • Etc.

Just cancelled my family plan. All the best.

Deezer, you must know the average age of your users. I'm a 50 year old man, not a teenage girl. This smacks of nieve  marketing.

Hope this feedback will get to the product team.
As a product designer, need to admit - my favorite app looks awful now, starting with logo, fonts (some styles are missing in other languages), mess with the icons (different line width and proportions). Previous coral color was much better than new purple (distracting eyes). All UI elements are bigger - no free space left. UI is too crowded.

Think it’s  time to fire your design lead. Please bring back old version or make toggle to switch.

I totally agree, this change is failure on so many levels… Visually so unpleasant and distracting… Please at least make toggle to switch to old version.

Let me join the voices here… The new design is awful and yes I love Deezer. I don’t expect my voice to have any impact (and that’s ok) but just thinking that if there is lot of people with the same feeling things may change…

Hopefully Deezer will listen to the voices here if we make lot of noise :)

Note that my comments is more about the logo, the app is kind of ok to me.

This is absolutely terrible why didn’t you leave it as it was which looked slick and professional. Which teenage work experience student did you get to design this?
