New logo: Explanations 💜

After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings

Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart 💜?
One comment cited there is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logo

The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat.

Another question was “why did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?”

Deezer helps you “be and belong,” going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.

Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it.

The choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.

Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.

The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.

We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts 💜.

I just wanted to join the voices of disagreement with the new logo. When I saw it I just couldn’t believe my eyes, and I was soooo crossed! Everyone else has already said what I also think about the new logo - it looks awful and resembles a dating app logo, I am honestly scared of the moment when my boyfriend spots it on my screen accidentally and will think I have downloaded a dating app… 😕

I hope our joint voices will be strong enough to make the owners think and maybe change it all back to the original...

I joined this forum only to express my view regarding the new design. I literally can’t stand it, it’s a disaster.  Seriously, I’m considering moving to Spotify now, even a the cost of potential problems with transferring my playlists (and I have loads of them since I used Deezer premium for many years).

My little kids (yes, so I’m done with dating apps) noticed -- when I was using my phone -- that the previous logo was so much better.

I’ll wait some time, maybe the developers will give us an option to chose a theme or find some similar solution. In case they leave it like this, I’ll be done with Deezer... :-(

The simple design of Deezer is far better than the busy design from Spotify.

Ah, the good old days where the Deezer UI didn’t suck yet.

YES! It ruined the look of my phone’s home screen in a really terrible way. It looks AWFUL. The old icon worked with any theme, the purple means I can only use themes (wallpapers, icons) with purple in them to match.

Like how you imply that your homescreen looked good with those assorted icon shapes and parts of the widget chopped off 😊

“Deezer helps you be and belong”… honey, I definitely don’t belong in here anymore. I am loathing this heart and can’t stand to look at it in my cellphone. I will move out after 15 years of having an account. Does someone know a way to migrate my playlists to somewhere else?

I used soundiiz to start exporting last night for £4.50, though I did so with some sadness.

I'm a musician, and this is the logo they use on the creators' panel. They already had a better logo than the original, but instead, they opted for an emoji

I think they hired Elon Musk to design this logo. Looks like generic pin art and that is being polite.

    They designed Deezer update.

I think the logo is wrong decision, maybe even app a bit messy, but you should give it time.

I personally trialing Free Deezer now just because of hype here and it works, but I wouldnt pay for it at all.

This is not a design job. This is a joke

@deezer design team, you can change your ‘identity’ and direction as much as you like but seriously, that new logo is a joke. What was wrong with the old one? It looked amazing. Like someone actually tried to design something. And it looked great! It worked. This purple heart just…sucks. There is no other way to put it: it is simply AWFUL! Been with deezer for over five years but this is such a bad move…
