After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings
Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart š? One comment cited āthere is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logoā Ā
The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat. Ā
Another question was āwhy did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?ā
Deezer helps you ābe and belong,ā going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.
Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it. Ā
āThe choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.ā
Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.
Ā
The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.
We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts š.

Please get rid of this terrible design decision that allows you to accidentally change songs while trying to bring up the now playing because thereās now a gap and the now playing bar isnāt locked to the bottom. I have no idea how this design change managed to get past QA testing. Surely this is purely aesthetic and was not a change made with actual user input in mind. Thereās a reason why every single podcast/music app doesnāt have an open space here.
Ā
I WANT to use Deezer and not Spotify or something else, but it should be usable and not have poorly designed UI.
After the new update I have left it to marinate to see if I could try and get used to it. However, this new update is a calamity. I cannot get used to it. The fonts, the logo, the functionality its all atrocious.Ā
I have decided to pack my deezer bags and move onto something else. Currently exploring YT music and Amazon Music.

Same for me. Looking at the comments in Play Store, it's obvious that Deezer won't change their new logo at least. So they will stick with their new brand identity (at least based on their comments).
Well, I have decided to move on as well. However this move reminded me on how dependent I am on these streaming services, especially as a music lover. You can't be sure that provider X won't change anything, might it be UI, quality or whatever. So while moving on, I decided to buy more music I like in future to be more independent .
Hey deezer, where did all of those threads of negative feedback go, you requested feedback in the play stores review via Deezer community. Didn't like the feedback then deleted it.
The new logo has the color of the peace and Christianity movement in Germany. While I don't have a problem with these ideas, the logo is too political for me when I simply want to listen to music. The old logo was much better.
New updates are awful. I mainly used the shuffle all playlists option for my daily listening and that feature has been elimimated.Ā
In āLive the music with Deezer ā post, (which is blocked for new replies, and any page after 1st takes you to āPage Not Foundā page)

āĀ Deezer is committed to intensifying its user experience and app design to inspire and empower music enthusiasts. The goal is to encourage fans to ālive the music ā by providing them with personalised experiences that match their unique tastes and preferences. ā
Ā
Now, how can I enjoy my personalized experience with my unique taste and preferences when there is no options for any of that! Ā (canāt change logo, color, font, font size or arrange stuffā¦) Ā come on Deezer team, stop with this nonsense. If you are so stuck up with this new redesign, then at least let me have an option to choose a different theme or make the app customizable to my liking. Ā So far I am very disappointed and seriously considering canceling my subscription.
This didn't age wellā¦
Ā
The new UI is AWFUL! ā it looks like a grade school child designed it for a childrenās project. Itās intolerable. The old interface was sharper and more modern, please bring it back. I would be embarrassed to recommend this new version to anybody. Looks like a joke. Ā Ā Ā
I've been a long time Deezer user andĀ I have always found the Deezer experience superior to Spotify.
However, to me, the recent overhaul of the app is nothing short of appalling. The purple theme all over the app, the dating-app-style Deezer icon, the kinder garden style iconography and ditto font, it resonates with me in a very bad way. I feel they really took pushingĀ all this diversity and inclusiveness stuff to the next level and a step too far. Completely uncalled for.Ā For me it's all about the music, nothing but the music. Add to that the fact that Spotify has vastly improved UX-wise over the past years, I really feel I have no other option but to switch back to Spotify.
Bye bye Deezer, at least for now.
I have been an user of Deezer for more than 5 years. The new logo is dump, it looks like a dating app on your phone, and being purple it suggests even more. The previous logo was perfect, as it represented music and sound quality, since Deezer was among the first to introduse loseless quality.
The new app UI is also completely outĀ of any general guidelines for making a good design. Crowded, with unsuitable fonts, while combinind unrelated fonts. The desktop version of the app for MacBook is even worse. Sometime empty space in an app is there for a reason, to visually froup elements by logic and put accents on a few things that matter the most in the current app mode/page. You have put accent on everything and it is hard to concentrate the eyes on the things that matter. Who has done this has absolutely no experience and clue with what a good app should deliver as an user experience.Ā Who chose this font for album titles? It looks like the old Comic Sans when the first PC appeared and people were experimenting with it.Ā
Ā
Loved you service, took the high-fidelityĀ package long time ago. Now it is a mess done for the sake of doing something new, not for offering a better experience.Ā
Mac users have noticed it: you canāt drag the app unless you clic between the search (that has no visible borders) and the user icon
Ā
So I took sometimes to notify deezer of the issueā¦Ā and the response was āApplication design changes are not possible.ā and a bunch of completely unrelated āsolutionsā like ācheck the antivirusā.
Ā
Of course design changes AREāÆpossibleā¦Ā have you lost you git ssh key and you canāt access the source code anymore ? Jeez.
Ā
IāÆmean WTFā¦ if you really want to get rid of us at least pretend you care like āweāll investigateā or something.
This didn't age wellā¦
Ā
Ā
Now we know whoās behind that silly new logo. If you know what i meanā¦.Ā
Post deleted. Apologies - I was mistaken.
My annual sub hasn't even expired yet, but this show of a rebrand and the arrogant dismissive responses from Deezer have made it far easier to stomach the additional cost of a new sub elsewhere.
Ā
The rebranding makes no sense, the only community that might go with it are young kids and that totally isnāt Deezerās demographic nor will it ever be.
All youāve done is alienate the vast majority of your existing user base with theĀ strong likelihood of putting off Ā potential new subscribers as most arenāt going to relate to such a garish and shouty UI (and donāt get me started on the dating app heart icon).
I donāt get it, itās so wide of the mark in terms of connecting aĀ relationship between user and product itās completely nuts!
Ā
Someone mentioned the new logo looks like a bat, now I can't unsee it . Please, take the bat away and bring back Ā» shuffle my music! Ā«
BRING THE OLD LOGO BACK!!! WTH?āāļøĀ
How is that rebranding coming along?
I can see you are drowning in new paying subscribersā¦.. xD
honestly, the way you treat your (ex) paying customers, you deserve so much worse..
but time will fix this, you underestimated your paying customers.
people are just sick and tired of companies telling us to just accept it or go somewhere else.
we go elsewere and the numbers reflect it.
Ā
show some BALLS and show the numbers of paying customers that left, and paying customers you gained.
I BET you donāt even dare.
Ā
Can you please explain to my wife that you are not a dating app. This has caused several problems in my household and I am currently sleeping on the sofa.Ā
Ā
Change the logo and the notification icon for the love of relationships please. Whomever made this decision needs their head seen too.
Can you please explain to my wife that you are not a dating app. This has caused several problems in my household and I am currently sleeping on the sofa.Ā
I donāt like the heart, but if something like the icon of an app on your phone forcedĀ you to sleep on the sofa you have way bigger problems.
In case anyone wasnāt aware (like me until just now) there wasĀ a new Discovery Radio feature in Apple Music added a couple of months ago that looks interesting, itās an endless algorithm generated playlist likeĀ Flow albeit not definable by mood or genre Ā
Might be of interest to those in the Apple eco system if feeling alienated by the new design.
Since moving to Tidal, I've found new music that Deezer just never seemed to suggest to me.
Honestly, I think I'm now glad about this whole thing. If they hadn't given me a reason to switch, I'd still be getting served the same stuff.Ā
Not sure if you guys agree with me but posts suggesting other platforms arenāt really helping.
If anything, weāre criticizing the major update because we care, we love Deezer and we believe it was the better service.Ā
In my opinion, Deezer was superior to Spotify, Tidal, Apple music and all other streaming services; too bad the last update messed things up not to mention the obnoxious way of handling things by the management/teamā¦.
Iām sure they realized they screwed up big time, whether theyāre gonna step on their ego and rollback is yet to be determined.
Keeping the pressure and constructive criticism is the only way to go.
