New logo: Explanations 💜

After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings

Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart 💜?
One comment cited there is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logo

The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat.

Another question was “why did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?”

Deezer helps you “be and belong,” going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.

Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it.

The choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.

Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.

The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.

We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts 💜.

It’s fucking HORRIBLE! Hey, Deezer idiots, stop! We aren’t 12 year-old girls! For God’s sake, the world has gone mad.

Seriously, I have not seen design so bad since VampireFreaks.com. Did they hire the team of angsty teens from VampireFreaks as designers?

It’s terrible. I hate it. It ruins the look of my home screen. This isn’t VampireFreaks.com and I’m not a 16 year old goth.

No one in their right mind could possibly think this looks good:

It looks AWFUL. I already removed half my shortcut widgets and moved them all to a secondary page on my home screen so I don’t have to look at them all the time, but I’m still very unhappy with how this has ruined the look of my phone. Why purple? Why TWICE the size of every other icon? The rainbow EQ icon worked. It matched every theme. This is terrible. Just awful.

The new vision for Deezer is to create an experience services platform around all things music, where we give people opportunities to express themselves and to connect with others.

So their goal is to become the old MySpace? 🙄😖🤦🏽

I was immediately reminded of the old VampireFreaks.com design. I’m not a teenage goth. It looks terrible. I LOVED the rainbow EQ icon. Very disappointed to see the design of Deezer turn into a 20-year-old (now defunct) goth social network.

you guys are really mad because of a logo? lol

YES! It ruined the look of my phone’s home screen in a really terrible way. It looks AWFUL. The old icon worked with any theme, the purple means I can only use themes (wallpapers, icons) with purple in them to match.

As someone that does UI/UX for a living Deezer went from the best looking music player in the market to a joke of a design overnight. What is this logo and GUI? It's terrible! You went from sophisticated minimalist to Bubbly Nonsense. So sad! I used to love showing off the app design as an example of what well thought out design looked like. Please go back!

I think the logo is wrong decision, maybe even app a bit messy, but you should give it time.

I personally trialing Free Deezer now just because of hype here and it works, but I wouldnt pay for it at all.

I just left a review on google for this “design studio”: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Koto/@34.0257674,-118.3911198,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x80c2b9c0cd635559:0xa1bb5bd2810b0c26!8m2!3d34.025763!4d-118.3885449!16s%2Fg%2F11h_clt2l6?entry=ttu
