New logo: Explanations 💜

After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings

Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart 💜?
One comment cited there is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logo

The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat.

Another question was “why did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?”

Deezer helps you “be and belong,” going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.

Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it.

The choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.

Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.

The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.

We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts 💜.

I found who Deezer hired to create this terrible design. Everyone should leave them reviews expressing about how much you “like” their “work” redesigning Deezer.

I just had a meeting at work. Showed everyone the app icon while holding my thumb over Deezer. They all unanimously thought it was a dating app - some (like myself) a dating app for a specific group of people.

Taste is subjective, but the new design is objectively speaking targeting a very narrow demographic, when (I assume) you have such a diverse pool of users. But, maybe Deezer have failing subscriptions and are now looking for a different demographic, alienating their current user base who likes the more neutral, yet beautiful, design.

If you'd just spent millions on a rebrand you'd probably defend it too. They will die on this hill because CEOs fragile ego won't let him admit that this is a disaster 😆

With the redesign I am now unable to press the buttons to add a playlist or album to my library because of the way it scrolls as the now playing bar covers the buttons on my phone.☹️

This is terrible because any design usually goes through a massive consult. If I did this at work I would have been fired. As it stands it feels it was done by the CEO’s mistress and everyone had to accept it

Oh dear, what a load of 💩

I don't care Deezer, what I want is to pay to stream music without the corporate branding offending my eyes.

I don't want a quiz, or an 'experience' or to connect emotionally.

Other than Flow, you can keep the rest of the  garbage that you have decided to come up with - stick it all on a different tier of membership and see how many people choose it.

Yes, this exactly. Who is really going to become a subscriber because of these ridiculous quizzes or other nonsense? I want to listen to music and not much else. Infos like concerts are a nice bonus but not essential.

Yes, the redesign is really bad. I wouldn’t have cared if it was only the color, but the logo and layout is just awful. Plus, the shift to “experiences” completely butchers the UI.

I do not care about quizzes, about moods, or any of that. I want to listen to music (especially albums) and the redesign makes that harder than before.

In the browser, it is even messier. Why the insistence on playlists? I rarely use them and if I did, I would go to Spotify. At least let us choose which content is prominently displayed in the sidebar.

The design studio behind this rebrand is KOTO STUDIO. You can let them know what you think of their work on their socials. Judging by their own website they just love style over matter.

I also liked the old UI much more. It seemed more modern. Favicon was beautiful, now it doesnt even has anything to do with music.

Perhaps there are some technical reasons behind this change.

Still, I would prefer if they hve improved the search functionality which is the weakest part of the app IMHO.

I like music. I love animals and wonderful people. I don't love music, even if it's wonderful, but I like it. Please, change the new logo!
