I know for a fact that developers and streaming services prefer to develop for iOS users, while Android users are often times left to rot waiting for features that iOS has since years.
There are for example tons of topics in the Spotify forum, created by Android users, asking and literally begging to have the same features, and to be as up to date as the iOS version.
The moderators there are going out of their way to close those topics with thousands of upvotes and support, simply because they see no incentive developing their services for the Android OS. When you use a streaming service/app that exists on both OS you will often realize that the Android version is years behind the iOS version.
So when I say that Android users are treated like second class citizens I'm not exaggerating.
Yes, you totally got a point @Harmonie but it isn't in our minds to treat Android users differently. And I can tell you that during this quarter, it's all about improving the Android app here at Deezer
I just signed up, as I was sold on the UCPS system and trying to move away from Spotify (see: The Dark Side of Spotify). Weighing different services, Amazon (which has an extra music tier to pay for) and YouTube Red (which I already have) paid better on past average studies, but Deezer had more polish and a great onboarding process.
I had assumed it would have this feature already in place. Alas… it does not.
In particular, I have my Echo Dot connected to my big room speakers to play at any time… so I ask Spotify to send the music to the Echo Dot, and get big sound. It’ll wake up and start belting out music, no words need to be said, just taps in the desktop or Android app.
Deezer not only needs me to shout at the Echo (and get it to understand me, often over the noise of an A/C), but … remote control of Alexa doesn’t exist… at all?
I don’t get that limitation. It’s Deezer’s developed Alexa skill, isn’t it? I can sorta understand it being a little wacky to try to control across apps, but… maybe having the desktop app (without Bluetooth) controlling a mobile app (which has BT, thus your headset), that’s a practical use case for it?
Just disappointed in the general state of interoperability. I have no idea what music the Echo is playing, and no way to control it… and strangely, it also doesn’t show as a linked device in the desktop client, and it lets me play music at the same time Echo is playing (two streams at once?). Just oddly disjointed.
I joined this beta on my spare iPhone 6s, and … found that nothing was controllable, still not even the Echo that was playing the whole time. My feedback: well, good job for taking a step forward towards a core feature needed to stay competitive, but it’s still a few steps short to even basic usability. Please keep up the effort. This space needs competition. :)
Thanks a lot for the feedback @FalconFour super important, very helpful! And yes, we'll keep on working on this - even a new skill for Alexa is on the making. Stay tuned!
@Harmonie our devs have seen your comments and wanted me to let you know that, despite not having a date yet, they're working on bringing this feature to Android as soon as possible (development work is being carried out as we speak).

Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it, and I hope that the Android and Windows versions will be polished alot more. iOS and what not had enough attention and development from Deezer. It's time to fully put your passion into the Android and Windows versions

Let’s not forget Linux users please
Once web player will improve, the pc app will improve too.
iPhone I have no clue. Never tried it. Too expensive phones. I hope Deezer will improve web app.
Rudi said that their aim is to focus on that too, to many annoyances as bugs.

Cannot get this to work at all, iphone cant see my mac or iPad at all
ok I have been testing this for a bit, can get this to work on chrome on my pc, the issues that I have found is it gives the “why has the music stopped?” box when I connect it, and the time scrubber (I think that what that’s called) is not synced so the one on the pc is not moving but the one on the phone is working just fine, then we have that my phone cant connect to the pc app at all, and when I connect the phone to deezer through chrome it restarts the song instead of playing where I left off.
hope that helped and you can get the issues fixed.
Some feedback to your iOS testflight app:
I already got 2 or 3 updates. But the release notes for these updates are always very vague: “Bugfixes and various improvements”
As a beta tester, I would like to know what really changed and can be tested (again). Currently it is a little frustrating to test something after an update, while not knowing if you even changed something in this part of the app.
If you would add more information to your release notes, I would be able give more valuable feedback.
“Feature X doesn’t work for me” after each release will probably not help you if you didn’t change something there.
So excited for the Android release or beta
I very excited about this feature event it still has very limited functionality yet. But anyway here is my small feedback. I’ve activated it on 3 devices - iPhone 6 plus, iPhone 11, Mac Desktop app.
Looks like any iPhone → Desktop control work mostly well but any iPhone → iPhone connection very unstable (tested on 2 and 5 ghz wi-fi networks). I’m constantly getting apps crashes and ‘remote disconnecting’ messages so as result in most cases I can start playback remotely but later I unable control it at all because:
- I may not able to reconnect at all
- if I able to reconnect anyway playback may be restarted (to start from beginning of the song or to unknow state)
- if remote disconnected at moment then I tried to start playback I will get pop message on remote device about that Deezer account can be used only on single device (and you have to go to remote device to close it) (even without remote it’s should be possible to use at 2 streams simultaneously, - because you may wish to listen music in background in your room and try search/explore tracks on another device with headphones)
Testing with iPhone controlling Windows PC
Got an issue where whatever track I select, it will play the track 2 places up in my playlist.
Just connected my iPhone to control remotely my iPad (which is via usb connected to my amplifier’s dac)
So far so good! Seems to work fine
this is very useful!
Hi everyone,
Thank yo again for all the valuable feedback, it helps us a lot and boost our motivation!
To update you we made some improvements on the connection side, hopefully you should experience less disconnection or non detection issues. If you still do please let us know!
And also yes, we are working on the Android version! the feature won’t be officially released without it. I am an Android user myself! :)
Hello, it used to not work at all for some reason, for I just tried this again and now it mostly works, so thanks for this :)
And also yes, we are working on the Android version! the feature won’t be officially released without it. I am an Android user myself! :)
Yeess!
Thanks for the announcement @Anne Deezer!

Do you roughly know how long this will take?
I am an android user, working with bluesound node 2i,
waiting like 2 years for this function!
I find the BluOs pretty limited and I am really waiting for this "connect" feature.
I really like deezer but, if spotify hi-fi will come to my region before, I will have to switch back to spotify, they have this feature for android for years now.
Hope deezer developers work fast.
I’ve been using it on the macOS app and safari web version, it’s a good first start but it’s choppy.
- Anytime you go to another song, the other device pops up with ‘resume’ thinking you’re trying to listen on 2 devices
- Songs regularly re-start
- Music sometimes will play briefly on my phone before re-starting back on my Mac etc
- If you’re playing a song on the desktop, the phone will show it but shows the wrong play state (ie: shows play button indicating its not playing) and the seek bar doesn’t move. If you then hit ‘play’ on your phone (to pause the Mac), it starts playing on your phone.
Please enable casting from Android phones to Amazon echo.
Hello from South America
I have the Beta app installed on both my older and new iPhones, how do I now get the devices to see each other in this application? I have enabled the feature in the “Deezer Labs” tab in both devices, but I cannot see how to go further….help?
