You've asked for this feature and since then, the wait has been a long journey. Our community pet peeve for a while, starts to get shape in our platform… :iphone:

Welcome to our remote control feature! :boom:

It's a great privilege for me to announce our initial test launch, for iOS users who are on the beta version of the app :minidisc:

You can now use your iPhone (or iPad) to control our desktop app, the Deezer web app, another iPhone or iPad.

How to access the remote control feature? :telephone_receiver:

You'll need to have the beta version of the Deezer app on iOS:

  • Open app > Settings > Deezer Labs
  • Activate Remote Control
  • Choose your track and click on the “Audio output” icon
  • Select the device you want to control

Any idea when this feature will come to Android (even beta would be fine)? If I continue my subscription is based on this feature… Love Deezer except for the fact, that it’s missing this feature.

I’m trying to ditch Spotify, but missing this is a deal killer. Hope it gets implemented soon!

Are there other Spotify alternatives that have this feature?  It's all that's stopping me ditching them

Hmz, it's been 7 months now or so? I thought it was a Spotify thing, but apparently it is a music-app thing to not follow through on promises.

Indeed looking to switch from spotify, but may now be ‘forced’ to go to Tidal. Shame!

Controlling Deezer on my Mac from my iPhone and iPad is working quite well, but I'd love to see it working in the other direction as well. So I would like to be able to control the music that's playing from my iPhone/iPad with my Mac.

I use Linux and an Android phone, so I guess I’ll be SOL unless I switch platforms...

any news about the remote (android → desktop)?

I want to use my smartphone to control deezer on desktop

Hey @Nir, we are working on it, should be released this year!

great i have been waiting for that for years/ but it does not work for some kind of “personal accounts” like tim música. that does not make sense since the music is playing only at one device. the other is just a remote

Hope to see this soon. I cancelled my subscription last year because when I asked about it on one of the forums, I was given a pretty rude response from someone from Deezer. It’s amazing looking through these comments at how many people can’t use this service due to ONE feature. You think companies would like making money, but pooping on your customers seems to be the new trend, Spotify included. How many people have been asking for Hi Res for years? I don’t get it. Hopefully this feature will be done “soon” and people can finally make the leap from a platform they are mostly happy with, but want to leave. It really shows the disconnect from CEO types and normal people.

For example, this feature was asked for over 4 years ago. Not only that, it took them 3 years to reply. Now it’s in iOS beta for a year?

It’s so bad that it takes so much time to get this feature and that beta only got pushed to one OS.

Frankly I enjoy the service, I’ve been a paid user for many years and now I’m a paying HiFi user, but this is really killing me. It forces me to switch devices all the time between phone and computers, which many times means pairing and unpairing BT speakers and headphones.

My Xperia phone is my main playing device, at home, at work, at the gym, etc and it’s always paired with headphones and speakers for music and calls. I just need to control it from my personal and work computers. The reverse is not as useful because if I’m playing to speakers, I use BT or Stream/ChromeCast, usually from the phone as well.

awesome!! can’t wait for this on android

I think it’s bizarre that to a certain extent this already works through the synchronized queue list, if the first pass of this feature just skipped a track on the playing device from any other deezer login that changes the queue this would be ok.

It’s in a weird state now where I can customize a queue on the deezer app on my pc and it updates on my phone which is really neat to be fair, or SKIP on the PC app, and it’ll do it on the phone as well, but it starts playing on the PC and pauses the phone playback! It’s so close!

It’s still beta, I’m trying it and sometimes it works well, somethines it fails. For example, if I’m playing something on windows and at the same time I have deezer opened in my iPhone, it fails to detect the Windows device, I need to restart Deezer on iPhone to detect the Windows device. Once the Windows device is detected, the current song is restarted u.u

It’s a shame this kind of features doesn’t work well in 2022….

Hi. Using 9.17.0.1 on iphone. Can’t seem to find any connected devices. Does beta version have to be installed on the other iphone?

There‘s no need to have the beta app beeing installed on your iOS device.
Just turn on the remote option at „Deezer labs“ in your Deezers app settings on iOS.
If this is done on several iOS devices and the devices use the same Deezer account they can find and remote each other.

Also iOS app can find and remote webversion on browser or desktop client if logged in with same account (for client you also have its deezer labs option to be activated).

This was already the case (and connected with same account on same wifi)…but no devices are showing up

Ok, i did some testing and can reproduce this behaviour. I‘m sure it has to do with the lastest beta update for iOS app.

First test, using two iOS devices with beta app 9.17.01…

  • If deezer app on device to be controlled is already active in foreground it’s found without a problem when opening menu „connected devices“ on controlling device.

  • If you first open the „connected devices“ menu and after this open deezer app on device to be controlled it isn‘t found.

Imho this is a bug and as i remember with earlier beta app there wasn‘t this problem.

Second test, using two iOS devices with final release 15.5 from Apple appstore…
No problem trying both ways. If opening deezer app on device to be controlled during control device already is searching for devices it appears instantly.

Ok found the problem. Tried from same device to ipad. Works fine. The controlled iphone is an iphone SE 2016 (ios 15.5 with latest official deezer  9.15) and that doesn’t work. Is iphone SE supported and if not, why not (I recycled that phone on my hifi system as an aux source, and figured it would be great if it could be remotely controlled)

Strange. ipad can see iphone SE (which in my case suits me, as explained above) but not iphone 12 (and iphone 12 can see ipad but not iphone SE). Is there something I am missing?

Correction : ipad can see iphone SE (connected devices) but not connect to it (remote audio).

@Alain.Beauregard

Imo it’s not an iPhone SE issue. I have tried many different iOS devices with deezer labs remote control and all worked fine.
Is there no deezer beta app anymore on one of the two devices you are testing in combination? If not and there‘s still the problem i suggest turning off wifi for a test and using mobile network just to eliminate a lokal network issue.

@Alain.Beauregard

And please check iOS settings „local network“ for deezer app on all devices, especially for iPhone SE.

All apps at 9.15 official.  iPhone SE has no sim so can only work on local network. so tried with a shared connection to iPhone 12 with mobile network.  Same result.

And network settings as indicated. Logged off and back on on both devices to make sure

So the only combination that works for me (with my three devices) is iphone12 - ipad
