Windows/Mac Deezer Desktop/Web App - Feedback for improvements

Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the space for all those improvement calls you kindly make to us when looking at how to make our desktop and web apps better platforms.

What should I post here?

  • if the app needs User Interface or User Experience (UI/UX) enhancements, let us know
  • if the app should be compatible with certain devices or audio outputs, we're with you
  • if there's a cool integration we should consider, shout out
  • and if any feature is missing, don't forget to mention

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version :floppy_disk:

Hello @STeeL835, thanks a lot for all the precious feedback, it’s actually quite impressive that you went this far into details, I appreciate that!

Name of what’s playing now

A title in the Queue screen that tells you what kind of queue (playlist/album/artist or mix and their name) is playing (like in mobile app)

Copy Track name - Artist button in share menu

Sometimes you want to share a track in form of it’s info - Artist and track name, maybe album, because links are forbidden where you want to share it, the link is redundant in context, a person can’t/doesn’t want to open it, or simply because it would be convenient. Currently you can’t do that easily - in queue screen (and in other places) text isn’t selectable and you have to re-type it yourself.

It would be convenient if ‘Share‘ modal had a ‘copy’ button not only for links, but also for track name, which would copy name, artist and album to clipboard. Maybe also a link on the next line, if you need that promotion bit, I personally don’t mind, but I see how it can be annoying for some people (like if it was is too loud, on 3 lines - basically an AD, but you pay for it)

@STeeL835 Yes I know what you mean, most of the time I do edit it myself and delete the promotion bit to make it more personal. Also like the idea about the title!

My Windows 10 desktop has warned me that I am running out of disk space.  The largest amount of disk space is taken by software.  When I order my software / apps by file size, the largest app by far is Deezer.  It takes up a whopping 8.66 Gb.  Even the Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 suite only takes up 1.30 Gb.  What is the reason for Deezer taking up so much space?  I have gone through Deezer’s settings and I have not downloaded any music.  There is no reason why the software needs such an enormous amount of disk space.  Please can you advise?  Thank you.

Hey @squirrel

You're right, it shouldn't take that much space at all.

I recommend you to uninstall the app, then search for %appdata or similar to find the Deezer folder and delete it. Keep us posted :thumbsup_tone2:

Hi Rudi, I have uninstalled.  There was nothing in appdata as Deezer for Windows is a Windows Store App and not standalone software.  I have installed Deezer afresh from the Windows Store and the disk size used is now 214 Mb.  I wonder why it was malfunctioning before?

Very intriguing indeed @squirrel

Is there any way you could give us the Windows 10 version and the previous desktop app version so that I could pass the info to our devs?

Glad that now it takes the right space :v_tone2:

Unfortunately, I have already permanently deleted the uninstalled version, and a couple of days ago, my Windows OS underwent a major automatic update, so I don’t know the version that was installed when the problem occurred.  The current version is Windows 10 Pro, version 2004, OS build 19041.388.

Not a problem @squirrel that's still good info to share! I'll pass it on and ask you to keep us posted in case the storage space changes for some reason :thumbsup_tone2:
