Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the space for all those improvement calls you kindly make to us when looking at how to make our desktop and web apps better platforms.

What should I post here?

  • if the app needs User Interface or User Experience (UI/UX) enhancements, let us know
  • if the app should be compatible with certain devices or audio outputs, we're with you
  • if there's a cool integration we should consider, shout out
  • and if any feature is missing, don't forget to mention

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version :floppy_disk:

A bit annoying about the desktop application is that when browsing, for example, albums, clicking on it, and then returning to the list, we go back to the top of the page, not where we finished browsing. I don't know if I spoke English well, but I hope you know what I mean.

Thanks for the suggestion @Piotr T. Zubrzycki I'd like us to have this feature too, to remember where we've left instead of scrolling again. I'll forward your comments on :thumbsup_tone2:

Hello @cristobalpg128, thanks for letting us know, this should not happen indeed. Sorry about the inconvenience.

One option deezer does not have is a volume control button. I would like to listen to background music as I'm studying, working, or reading. And some of the work involves audio - e.g. videos or read out text. Deezer volume is the same as the computer master volume. I need to keep work videos loud and read text clear, and deezer bg music lower, but currently can't do that. I end up closing the app or switching to Spotify. Please add volume control to all platforms - Windows, Android, Chromebook (a custom version could help for Chromebook - Google Chromebooks have an identity crisis between Android, Google, Linux, PC...). Thanks

~Laith

Hi, Laith @Abulluyouth

Thanks for reaching out.

Our desktop app does have a volume slider for you to set a different volume than the system one. What version of our app do you have?

Is there any timeplan on when the gapless will be on the Windows 10 app?

Im in no hurry, just would like to know if this will be featured on some upcoming update.

My version is 4.24.0

Regarding Windows App.

I am currently downloading a few playlists in HIFI ,  this seems to make playing tracks in HIFI  simultaneously quite laggy ,  tracks will stop & start on their own accord , sometimes they won’t play at all .
I’m certain this is an effect of downloading in the background as Deezer app was playing fine until I started downloading.
An option to pause the current downloading session would be most useful.

Would be great to have an option to disable the displaying of a menu bar icon.

Background: this space is pretty previous on macs (as it’s shared with the menubar items of other software) and the current deezer icon is pretty useless for me (I’m using media keys anyways). Besides that it’s a good habit to not bloat that space without user consent (i.e. most software has a config option to toggle visibility of the menu bar icon).

Please add such a configuration option to deezer too.

I'll be making an announcement on our homepage when it's ready, @Samppa, thanks for asking.

Our teams are trying to finish this feature in the next few months, so fingers crossed Santa can bring it before 2021 :fingers_crossed_tone2::grimacing:

Offline mode switch / toggle
Folders for playlists  /  change playlist view to “ list”  instead of having huge icons
Pause download option
Gapless playback

Hey @Ian Cahill

I really like your suggestions, they're quite realistic too :relaxed:

We have a couple in discussion at the moment, and we've been developing gapless for a while, maybe we can see it here by Xmas but we're still waiting for more info.

The pause download option is really good too, I'll be forwarding it all to our desktop app teams :thumbsup_tone2:

Hello,

I’d like to have these features:

  1. Scroll playlist/queue to the position of currently playing track (automatically). I often listen to long playlists (whole discographies - several hours long) and sometimes I have to scroll manually.
  2. Show Album name in Queue. Currently there is no info about album name in queue. No column, only cover picture.
  3. Multi-select using Shift + Click and Ctrl + Click (Like in Windows explorer)
  4. Context menu (for example mouse right button) for selected items. When I want to to delete selected tracks from the end of playlist it’s very inconvenient  - I have to scroll to the beginning of playlist

BTW: Sorry for my english. Hope you understand.

Interesting @warpkanal I think we could make the most of the icon, or give the option not to have it, as you said,  so thank you :thumbsup_tone2:

Remember scrolling position (check here) is actually really cool and necessary @katro thank you for your suggestions! Really appreciate them :v_tone2:

Hello

Is it possible to Chromecast from the Deezer Desktop (Mac OS)? If so, how to do it? If not, when will this be possible?

A suggestion is to look at Tidal desktop application for Mac which allows very easily to select the audio output from the app.

Thank you for your support.

HI ALl,

Has anyone experiencing high data usage by Deezer? i have desktop and set it to high quality and i download it locally. So not sure why it would use almost 500mb when changing songs????

Thank you for your positive feedback @Fabrice Cinquin

Not possible yet but still on the plans - I really like your suggestion on audio output. I'm currently handpicking feedback on improvements for the desktop app to our devs, so I'll mention this too

I would like to have automatic playlists.

Little bit like itunes. There is a future to make automatic playlists. Depends on different rules.

For example:

Gerne

Liked or disliked songs.

Length from song.

Years.

Etc etc.

When I like a song or add to my library it moves automatically to the playlist where he matching the rules..

That's not normal @Max.Heera could you please try reinstalling the app and checking again?

Thanks for the suggestions @darkdevil1988 really like them :sunglasses: playlist automatic pre-selection, cool!

I have nothing to add. I just want to report that the unofficial Deezer port for Linux (specifically the Arch based distributions) is  great!

Hi All,

Just a warning that my Deezer app is burning gigs of data when i listen to songs that are supposedly downloaded to my local drive. Its occurring on my both my desktop and laptop.

It just went through 5gb of data when i was listening over the past hour. this is crazy. It ate through 500GB of data in 3 days. I have a premium capped fiber account which is ran out of data because of the Deezer app.

This must be a bug.

Is anyone experiencing this issue?

Is anyone not seeing high data consumption (10GB per hour) when listening to music on their desktop app ? The songs are all fully downloaded as well so not sure why its burning data.

I have followed Deezer advice to uninstall etc, but same issue.

Its done 100gbs in the past few days which has never happened before.

That's very odd but plausible too @Max.Heera

Thanks for reporting this. I know you mentioned trying to uninstall but have you actually deleted the Deezer folder from your system? Give us a bit more details about your setting so that I can forward these to our devs :thumbsup_tone2:

This is why an offline mode switch in the app is essential.
The only work around is either to terminate your internet connection whilst listening to your downloaded data , or block Deezer via a firewall whilst you are connected to the internet.

Fair point @Ian Cahill that's why we need comments like yours here - this will be forwarded :thumbsup_tone2:

The latest Windows 10 update(20H2) removed all the squares that contained the every app’s icon. Can you also remove that horrible (gray?) square from Deezer too? This makes the icon soo small, aside being ugly!
