Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the space for all those improvement calls you kindly make to us when looking at how to make our desktop and web apps better platforms.

What should I post here?

  • if the app needs User Interface or User Experience (UI/UX) enhancements, let us know
  • if the app should be compatible with certain devices or audio outputs, we're with you
  • if there's a cool integration we should consider, shout out
  • and if any feature is missing, don't forget to mention

This topic is intended for version 4.20.0 and above, and for our browser version :floppy_disk:

Hey @Lorenzo

Nice to hear from you, as always!

No, not yet. It's a bit delayed, let's say. Devs are still developing it, it should be ready during the beginning of 2021 but these things are hard to predict. We've got several improvements and bug fixes planned for the app next year. Hang in there and I hope to have more info soon :relaxed:

Ooooh @Robmij great suggestions. Yes, you're right about the album adding option, some users don't like it that way. But your feedback is essential. I'll forward your comments to the desktop app teams :thumbsup_tone2:

Hello,

I use for the firsst time the Windows10 app with my screenreader Jaws for windows but it was very hard to use that app.
After that I tried it with an other screenreader NVDA but also with that screenreader it was nog possible to read the screen.
I hope that you can fix this problem in the near future.

Hello @_Overman

Thank you for your feedback! We certainly need to improve our accessibility settings and your perspective will add to the discussion.

Could you please tell us a bit more about what's wrong and/or what's missing when you use Jaws or NVDA?

In the meantime, Happy New Year!

Hallo Rudi,

is natuurlijk erg omslachtig.

Hallo @_Overman

Great detailed feedback! I had to use Google Translate but I could understand everything. I'll be forwarding your comments to our desktop app developers. Hopefully we can add some improvements on this when setting our next plans up :thumbsup_tone2:

thanks a lot.

  1. Improved UX on artist page. Viewing all songs from an artist is difficult since when you go into list view of albums you can't just expand the albums and play the tracks directly, but you have to access the album page first which can already be accessed from the album title and album art.

Viewing similar artists sometimes bugs and repeats same artists over and over.

  2. Improve the search. For example misspelling a word most of the time results into nothing found, instead make it how most search engines work by providing a suggested edit and results.

  3. Easier playlist access. Add a dropdown option for the playlists on the left side menu if you want to access a playlist faster instead of going through the thumbnail hell and having to type your playlist name if you haven't made custom thumbnail for moderate number of playlists everytime.

Hi!

In the desktop app the progress bar that is supposed to show the playback progress of the track  currently playing is useless, because of the colors used.

Have a look at the pic below:

Can you tell, just by looking at the progress bar (and without zooming deep in the picture) where progress of the currently played track is?

I honestly do not understand the choice of colors: medium gray and medium purple on a thin line.

Did someone really think they would result in a clearly visible progress indicator?

(By the way, the Deezer desktop apps’s active-inactive window state is also indistinguishable on the app’ title bar as it is the same black in either case. Is this how it is intended?)

Thanks

A few devs have already contacted me back about your suggestions @_Overman and they agree we need to act on it, but they need further discussion to figure it out how.

Thanks for the detailed feedback too @brakbama Search will certainly improve in the near future and Easier playlist access is something we're discussing for quite some time now. 2021 should reflect some of the improvements for our desktop app. Most of the ground work is to be done to the player though, we still need to release gapless, for example

Hello Rudi,

Maybe the bui

lders

of the app have a look at https://www.w3.org/WAI/

FEEDBACK

The “Recently played” window should automatically move the page down (to the bottom) when a new song is added, thus keeping the most recently played tracks and the currently playing song in view in the list.

Hi there @eclipse

That's a fair point, especially considering your screenshot - it's really hard to see!

That changes according to the colour of the album. I'll forward your feedback

Thank you for the reference @_Overman passed it on too, great :relaxed:

Thanks for the feedback @Oberon I know what to do with it :thumbsup_tone2:

When I have a playlist up and plying, and say the last number on the screen is 25, when it goes to 26, the playlist does not move up:

When I scroll up it is easy to see what is playing because the icon replaces the number (see red circle bellow):

I barely ever realize that the red font is on the current track. Red is also the color of the favorites and I think my brain just skips/ignores it.

If I click on Queue however, the view is different. There is no number (the playlist also does not move up).

The issue here is then if I start scrolling up or down to find the current track, it is very easy to not see the red text at all.

Looking at the cover icons for the deezer/equalizer icon does not work either because it almost looks kind of the same to the small covers:

So I am suggesting to make that line more prominent. Increase size and weight of font, make that line totally a different color and/or use the actual deezer icon colors on a light background.

You know @kwads we've received similar feedback to yours about this. It's very important, thank you for supporting these improvements.

We need to look into these visuals this year - I'll forward your comments with screenshots to our devs and will highlight there are more users like you as well. I personally agree we need to look into this :thumbsup_tone2:

New Deezer user here. So I have a few improvements.

Make the entire bottom bar clickable

This would make the UX a bit better instead of clicking just the queue button in the bototm

Make the entire bottom bar change color based on album artwork (Instead of the progress bar)
This makes things a bit more consistent with the mobile app

Add “Go To Album” buttons to context menu for each track

Sometimes I’d like to see the album associated with the track. There should be an easy way to do this.

Add ability to refresh.

self explanatory. There are use cases that this needs to be an option

That’s what I noticed after using it for a few days.

After a few days, this is amazing feedback @artistro08 thanks a lot!

I particularly like the refresh option and the bottom bar to change colour. Top suggestions, will obviously pass everything on :thumbsup_tone2:

I got a few more after using the app a bit more. I propose a navigation system like Slack’s app. See screenshot

This would give it that “polished” look.

Also, including your playlists on the side would be amazingly awesome

Like that suggestion too @artistro08 I'm forwarding it right now! :relaxed:

Very positive feedback @jeremybonan, thanks a lot for complementing this thread :thumbsup_tone2:

We're rethinking the way we have our favourites at the moment, to see if we can develop a media library style as you mentioned. About Apple improvements, we're always trying to keep up - so these options (Silicon compatibility and AirPlay 2) should gradually developed by ou teams. I'm going to forward your comments to them as well:v_tone2:

Hello @Rudi

It’s been five months. Did you get update from the dev team?

Best,

J

Hey J @jeremybonan

We haven't received an update on this but they're investigating it. We're all set on finishing the big stuff we started last year (increase on favourites' limits, fixing bugs, getting Gapless on desktop) and so the other improvements will be booked in after that. Stay tuned to the community, we'll be updating everyone.

Side note: we're interested in bringing Deezer to Homepod

I’ve been using the desktop app and I haven’t noticed any issue about the app and its functions, just need a logo redesing to match windows’ new design.

Also bring sleep timer to pc player

Thank you for the suggestions @Gabriel Felippe Mateus :relaxed:

A logo redesign isn't on the plans for this year but the sleep timer would be a great addition, I agree!
I'll pass it on

I would like to see the view of favorites in list like on Android, not only big covers. :grinning:

By my count, there’s three “settings” pages -- top left burger menu, top right account menu, and another at the bottom right” which controls audio settings. Is consolidating them something in the pipeline? I definitely can say the Android app is a nice piece of work, but can’t say the same thing about the Windows app.

There’s a lot of other stuff (gapless, CDN issues, bugs here and there) that I won’t go further into. But I am definitely not impressed with the speed features and bug fixes are being rolled out.
