Scrobble Last.fm from Deezer not working

Userlevel 3
Hi @Lucelia.Mascarenhas,

It is possible to link your Deezer account to your Scrobble Last FM account from a computer/laptop using this link:

https://www.deezer.com/account/share

You should see the Scrobble as the option on the right.

Another known issue of the internal Deezer scrobbling is that “Scrobbling now” in your Last.fm recent tracks list is not shown, so you might think it doesn’t work (already mentioned that about 14 hours ago). And related to that skipping the current song will scrobble it immediately which is not wanted either. So using external scrobbling apps for Deezer instead is preferred by some users.

Hi,

Scrobbling is not working on the Windows desktop application again. Deezer version 4.34.10. I have connected, disconnected, and reconnected a few times attempting to get this to work. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Thanks

Could you please keep an eye on 5.0 release @Alopen and let us know how it performs? Thank you for your support!

Will do - any idea of when that will launch?

It has launched already, but like with our other apps, it's a gradual rollout @Alopen

You can also uninstall your current one, restart your computer and then download it from here (just got the link):

Hey guys, Deezer doesn’t send my data correctly to Last.fm!

I’m listening to (Remix) version of a track but, Deezer scrobbles the original one.

Anyone experiencing the same issue?

It is a known issue with the internal Deezer scrobbling, everything in brackets will not be submitted in the scrobble.

You can use Last.fm scrobblers on phone and Chrome to correct that.

Listening this Transformers (2011 Remix) · S3RL

Deezer scrobbler will post S3RL - Transformers.

Using the other option it will scrobble S3RL - Transformers (2011 Remix).

Many thanks :)

Hi

3 years later and scrobbling still doesn’t work well

Hi @pedropgone I’m scrobbling right now with no problems. What issue are you having, perhaps we can help then?

Thanks for the feedback @pedropgone

I think I get your point. But we haven't thrown the towel on this one, we just need to find the right time and resources for it :relaxed: (so that it can get improved!)

Why aren’t you guys fixing this? @Rudi

What’s the problem? 🧐

I mean it’s not a complex or unfixable bug. Also Deezer doesn’t support the ‘Scribbling now’ feature 🧐

Deezer’s library deserves to be a part of last.fm playback options. I’m sure you can provide this integration easily 🧐

No problem, Sara @SaraJaleh

We just need to prioritise the development of the integration, and allocate developers for it - something we haven't been able to do because our team is small and there's always a feature with more demand.

However, Last.fm is close to my heart because one of our Deezer Legends is also a top Last.fm guy, so I've been monitoring the discussion internally with a lot of interest. I hope to get it moved forward in the near future :relaxed:

I have recently moved from Spotify to Deezer, but since then my last.fm app on Android did not count my plays on the Deezer account. Since August 8 my songs haven’t been scrobbled, and I want to know if there’s a way to share my listening history to last.fm so all songs that I’ve listening in this period would be scrobbled. I remember last.fm used to access Windows listening history to count scrobbles, it it possible to do with my Deezer account? Any applications could do that?

Hey @tefona

Thanks for joining Deezer.

Our scrobbling isn't up to scratch yet, but in this thread here you'll find the best tips on how to make the most of it. Have you tried a browser extension?

To use the internal Deezer scrobbling on Android or iOS you have to enable it in the Sharing Preferences of the web player, there is no separate setting in the Deezer mobile or desktop apps for scrobbling. See the official Deezer FAQ on Last.fm’s support forum:

https://support.last.fm/t/deezer-scrobbling/177

You can only scrobble from Deezer from the moment you connect both accounts, so your earlier scrobbles are probably lost. You could check the Favorites section of the Deezer web player how far the internal Deezer listening history goes back (probably not more than your last 40 songs) and manually scrobble these songs with online scrobbling tools like Universal or Open Scrobbler, but Deezer does not provide a method to access your complete listening history which could be imported with other tools like the Last.fm Scrubbler for Windows.

Long story short: to scrobble Deezer with Android devices you can either use the internal option or Android scrobbling apps like the official one from Last.fm, Pano Scrobbler, Scroball etc.

New to Deezer, I migrated from Spotify. Everything seems good so far however I’m absolutely not continuing my subscription after the free period if last.fm support is going to be this inconsistent.

It works if I’m playing audio from the webpage but not desktop. I do not ever use websites to listen to music, only the desktop app. I understand the team is small and this isn’t really *that* important however it is for me and my purchase is solely based on it. If it’s still not working after my month has ended I will be unfortunately heading back to Spotify.

Do you see the Last.fm logo in your Sharing Preferences of the Deezer web player, and is it red or greyed out?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I successfully linked it yesterday, and it would scrobble only if I was using the webpage; not the desktop app itself.

I also unlinked and redid the process to see if it would help but it didn’t.

Here's what it looks like

Did you wait long enough for the whole song to scrobble and the next song to start playing already? The internal Deezer scrobbling does not provide information about the currently playing song unfortunately, so there is no “Scrobbling now” shown in your Last.fm recent tracks, it will appear as scrobbled only a few seconds after the new song has already started. So you might think scrobbling is not working, but in fact it does.

If you use the Web Scrobbler browser extension with the Deezer web player, this would work though. It would also explain why you can scrobble with the web player while the desktop app would not work.

Yes I’m already aware of everything you’ve said. No I don’t use an extension. As far as I’m concerned it’s an issue that Deezer isn’t really interested in fixing so I suppose we’ll leave it at that.

Fair point in your comments @jasongenova

Our Legend here has been advocating for improvements for quite a long time @bluezzbastardzz but we haven't managed to convince our decision makers to prioritise this one yet. There's an open discussion about it here at Deezer, and because of the success of Last.fm, I haven't dropped the towel on this one. Thanks a lot for your support and patience!

Please remove those unnecessary album tags like (Deluxe Galaxy Wide Edition Standard Album Version).

Not to mention miswritten messes like Seasick Steve’s “Man From Another Time ( Only 2)”.

Isn’t there anyone on Deezer hired to mind those tags? Last.fm users like me care too much about these dumb letters. You seriously need a tag upkeeper.

Currently the Last.fm developers are working on a feature for Pro users to save their edited scrobbles for later playback independent from the source which would also allow to fix some of the known Deezer issues with scrobbling, so you would only have to edit your Deezer scrobbles once and not everytime when you play a related song. This is already possible with external scrobbling apps like the Web Scrobbler browser extension and Pano Scrobbler for Android.
