Deezer Xbox App crashing

Userlevel 1

I start to play my music but after about a minute of me switching to a game, it crashes. It is up to date and I've tried reinstalling.

Thanks for your honest feedback @Estevão Leal I know it has been a long time and users expect things to improve faster. We are indeed working in a new Xbox update to fix different issues. I don’t have an ETA but I will update everyone in the Community when this update is ready.
Thanks for all your patience :pensive:

I understand perfectly well that it is not your fault personally that the Deezer application on Xbox was released unfinished and with bugs. Moreover, I think that perhaps your management is misleading you by voicing the timing of troubleshooting the application on Xbox. But the attitude of the Deezer service to its users is simply terrible. You have recently fixed playback in the background, but other problems remain. Knowing about problems and not solving them for years is wild. It seems strange to me not to find a graduate of programming courses for $ 500 who is ready to write a new and equally primitive application, but without bugs. You don't care, but with this attitude you will lose your users, and your competitors will be happy to poach them. It's good that there is competition and other services. In the new year we will definitely say goodbye to you. I will not recommend this service to anyone.

A new version of the Deezer app for Xbox has been released and I like it. If you fix a few more old bugs, it will get even better:

1) The cover of the playlists created by the user when entering the playlist is not synchronized on Xbox, either the earliest version of the cover or a collage of artists' albums is displayed;

2) There is no sorting inside the playlists created by the user;

3) The music compositions added by the user to Deezer stutter and stumble when playing on Xbox for a while;

4) And most importantly, the music playback in the background stops after a while.

Adding an app update on the Xbox platform is paid for the developer, I understand that. You can already use this version of the application and not feel annoyed, but if you remove the remaining bugs, it will be a holiday 😉 I was harsh with you, but there were reasons for that, please don't take offense at me. Thanks to Deezer, but special thanks to those who made it a little better.

We'd like to have that set up too @Richthegamer but there's still quite a way to go before we get a similar integration. Thank you for reporting your experience.

It seems that our Xbox app is struggling a bit with the new Series X, so our teams are working on updating it - hang in there and bear with us a bit longer, we'll get it right! :relaxed:

It’s almost an year now and it keeps crashing on Series S. Is there an update in work?

I'm still having this issue and getting adds for Deezer on YouTube. I've had Deezer for 8 years and used to recommend it to everyone I know. Spend some of that advertising cash on making an Xbox app that plays for more than 90 seconds and I'll start recommending it to people again, I promise.

I'm sure glad I checked Deezer on my Xbox series s.  I was ready to switch from Spotify, but with this being broke for over a year without even one try for a fix I'm relieved that my Deezer trial period isn't over yet.  This is definitely a deal breaker.  Good luck to all of you, I hope they figure it out soon.  And if you're really hurting for tunes while you game, look up mytube in the store.  I bought it a couple years ago for $2 but I think the price has gone up, but you can listen to YouTube while you play.

I am currently doing the 30 day trial of Deezer and was gonna purchase a Hifi Family plan...until I tested the Xbox app. It's useless in its current state. Crashes every time when switching to a game after a minute or so. Seems like this has been an issue for years with no hope in sight?

I can't believe, over a year since this issue were reported, and more than 2 years since this bug exist and Deezer still haven't solved it yet? I really want to be able to listen my music while playing on my Xbox?? Do you really care about your users on Xbox?

Hello @Bluegroove @parcoy

We are sorry to hear that. Can you let us know what version of Deezer of the app you have installed on your Xbox, please?

Does it crash when you open it or does it crash when you switch to a game on the Xbox?

Thanks :)

@Alfredo.

Thank you for the reply. I will gladly purchase a Hifi Family account if you can figure this out or at least provide a workaround.

I am using the latest version of the Deezer Xbox app on a Series X.

The app crashes around a minute after I start playing a song then switch to a game. Restarting the app and trying again results in the same crash after switching to a game. Sometimes the app even crashes when I leave it open and don't play any game.

Sidenote: I also noticed the Hifi symbol does not display like it does in the mobile app. Is this intended?

Please let me know if you need any more information. Really hoping you guys can get this sorted because I do love your service otherwise!

I do have exactly the same issue as @Bluegroove on my Series X.

Music stops a few seconds to a minute after switching to the home screen or a game.

Being able to play music on the Xbox while gaming was a major USP against other competitors I evaluated after leaving Spotify. So I really hope this is fixed soon.

Had this problem last year and just stopped to use it until yesterday and it’s still crashing while you play on Series S. With this many people complaining about this for years you’d expect it to be fixed by now 🙄

When I try to launch a game, the music lags then the app crashes. The app itself is terribly laggy and might just make me switch back to Apple Music or Spotify. Because legit everything on Xbox app is so laggy man it’s unbelieveable. I’m on Xbox one s btw.

We'd like to have that set up too @Richthegamer but there's still quite a way to go before we get a similar integration. Thank you for reporting your experience.

I just came back with a 30 day trial over a year later to see if this was fixed and its still in the same shoddy condition it was in last year. Didn't you promise a fix was coming before the end of 2021?

As you are £2 more expensive than Spotify (where the xb app works pretty much flawlessly) and this basic feature STILL doesn't work I won't be sticking around sadly.

Wouldn't it be better to just delete the app? Surely that wouldn't leave people with false ideas of what to expect from you.

I still have this issue, plus songs will randomly skip forward or repeat (Xbox Series S)
