Desktop app is my biggest frustration too. A frustration made from many, many smaller frustrations. From the utterly baffling (every time I open the app it re-enables “Launch Deezer on startup” without my permission) to the irritating (pressing X only minimises to system tray) to the unusable (search is garbage). I do not feel valued as a user. Every time I open the app and once again hit the toggle to disable launch on startup, I am getting that message loud and clear: Deezer does not value me as a user. The only reason I stay is because Deezer apparently pays its artists better and is developing genAI filters, both of which matter a lot to me. But it really sucks to sit down at my desk, open the app, and think “Ugh, gotta deal with this crap app again,” instead of “I am looking forward to listening to my favourite music!”

I’ve already reported this to Deezer but so other users are aware - in the Windows Desktop if you are in full screen mode and choose a playlist with more than 40 tracks, click on Queue it will only show you the first 40 tracks (it will play the rest but you need to com back out of Queue) :)

As the thing you call a Desktop app is not really an app but merely an Electron web wrapper it causes a huge problem as your website is designed in a way to ensure it cannot be used on touch devices. Let alone all the problems the user encounters depending on cookie and script settings in the brower. Have you ever considered creating an actual Windows app based on WinUI that would allow to use Deezer as the app would adapt to the device settings, like dppx, screen orientation, screen resolution, input device.

When i played list song that already downloaded .. the player glicth if my internet connection bad .. the player keep switch between online and offline  its really unpleasant moment .. PLEASE LET US CHOSE MY OFFLINE MODE ..  version . 4.20.21

Music: Flow

Problem: playback is interrupted, can occur as in 30 seconds playback, as in once in an hour.(longest playback without interruption)
Displays general error message, after accepting the same song played.

I’ve contacted Deezer about the issue before, but it looks like the desktop version does NOT have an offline version. I’m on version 4.20.30 and I have to sign in EVERY time that I use it, which is pretty frustrating. This also means that it needs to open on the Deezer website EVERY time I sign in. Which is NOT offline. I have internet issues sometimes (rural area) so part of why I bought the subscription was the ability to use the offline version (especially on downloaded playlists.) But with all the ads you keep sending through (no, I don’t care about the latest playlists, thank you) and the requirement to sign in continually, this means it’s still drawing on download and internet connection. Please fix this!

What’s most frustrating was that on previous versions of the desktop app this wasn’t a problem.

Hey Deezer, Can you please fix the download on Deezer Desktop, please? It’s quite annoying having to realize you have to download all your music again after every single update. It makes me not want to update, to be honest. After an update,  some of your songs can’t play offline at all you can even get a play for a few seconds before it stops, it downright doesn’t play at all. In my country, internet comes at a high cost and realizing I have to download it after every update is really painful to given the fact that sometimes I download loads of playlists down once. I use my capped-data internet during the daytime only to realize (via Glasswire) that some of the songs aren’t playing the offline files but it’s streaming online with my data which kind of defeats the purpose of the offline download in the first place.

 

Sometimes I think what about a quick download of that particular album or playlist (since you can’t download individual songs) but then when I clear the download...IT GOES TO SMART CACHE...and when I try to re-download...it LOADS THE SAME OLD FILES...the ones that aren’t working. And if I attempt to clear smart cache it means I have to delete ALL MY MUSIC files since there’s no option to either delete only your smart cache or to delete only your downloaded music. And if this is happening after every update (I think I’ve gotten 2 updates within the span of 2 months).

Please is there a solution to this or is it a serious bug that needs to be fixed?

I have some weird issues with a few songs. I have listened to over 200 songs in my library without any issues, but two of them have some issues, there’re two songs with the same title “Maroon 5 - One More Night” from the same album “Overexposed”, the only difference is that one album has a few more songs in it. The problem is, that one of these two tracks can play without issues on desktop app and web, while the other track (with higher popularity rate) stops at 0:15 and shows "An error occurred please try again later" message, but I can play both tracks on my phone without issues.

Hey folks,

 

just installed the desktop app. Yet I cannot get beyond that cookie notification pop-up. If I click on “Ich stimme zu” nothing happens. Whatever I change in those settings below that black buttons doesn’t have any effect at all.

 

Does anybody have an idea how to solve this?

Hey @briancomin have you restarted your Windows since installing the new version of the app? I wasn't able to reproduce it here on a Mac but we can also test on a Windows if the issue persists on your side.

Seems like it was one of those issues that can be resolved be turning it off and on again. A third restart of my computer fixed it. xD

Subjectively, it seems like the buffering issue is most prevalent when on playlists or flow. Playing full albums doesn’t seem to produce the behaviour as much, or possibly at all. I’ll listen lots of albums today and see. 

 

Buffering issue is also present when playing albums, it’s not just a playlist issue.

I had an infamous issue when the Windows App (both Desktop and Windows Store version) crashed immediately after login. However, I managed to solve it and decided to share my solution. I hope it will help your developers to prevent it completely. 

After checking some suggestions in other threads on this site, I noticed a suggestion to clean up the %appdata%/deezer folder. It helped me to find the actual .exe file and when I run it, I got an error message: 

“Fatal process OOM in insufficient memory to create an Isolate”

I have realized that you are using Electron/Node.js. The memory issues on Node.js apps are typically related to the “--max-old-space-size” parameter. In my case, it was set to 8GB which seems too large (is it compiled for 32-bit?).

So I have run the following in the command prompt: 

set NODE_OPTIONS=--max-old-space-size=2048

After that, I managed to run the app successfully.

As far as I know, it is possible to set the --max-old-space-size flag during the compilation of the Electron app, e.g. as discussed here:

I think your developers should consider doing this to avoid such difficult-to-troubleshoot problems.

The Mac version of the App still doesn’t work properly, when you click on “Artist” or discography, after the initial click the links stop working.  very frustrating.  

On the verge of giving up… i’ll switch to the browser version… hopefully that works.

I really apologise for being so negative, because Deezer in fact is awesome. On the bright side:

  1. I can sort search results yay! (hello green service)
  2. I can properly upload my music without those weird tricks (again hello green service)
  3. Mobile app is not too bad
  4. Flow is amazing
  5. Overall Deezer seems to have more music (or it’s just more music that I listen to)
  6. Real shuffle, instead of that joke of a shuffle in the green service

We're working on that too, our player, to improve performance @JoeBro1907 everyone here at Deezer is fed up with bugs :sweat_smile: but we're working on long-term improvements, that's why it takes longer.

Did you check the album cover in the play queue view? The normal album page and the thumbnail in the playbar will not show you the HiFi or HQ sticker.

Apparently, this issue is resisting to go way. Our devs are working on it, but it might be sorted in the next release after .30

The good news is that we're separately working on major updates for the desktop app in order to kill these annoying bugs once and for all. Thank you for your support!


Hello! Since the purging of k-pop on Spotify I came back to Deezer now that you have all those songs that vanished from Spotify 😛 also enjoying the HiFi plan so much <3

However… my desktop app (version 4.32.30) simply closes after about 2hrs of playing non-stop, no matter if it's directly an artist page, flow or a playlist. I first thought it was due to moving it to the other HDD, but then I got it back on the SSD and it still closes suddenly. I did download a playlist everytime, so I don't know if that might the culprit. 

Hope you can help me soon as I really really prefer you guys over the other apps :D
