Scrobble Last.fm from Deezer not working

Same here... some songs did appear with some weird random delay (days / weeks).

It would be nice if the developer also fix the problem with double (at the moment single ... ;-)) scrobbling of songs in combination Sonos & Deezer.

I believe this is intended behaviour. @bluezzbastardzz could you confirm?

Well, "intended" probably is the wrong word, because it looks like the Deezer API does not offer the option to read the currently playing track (please someone correct me if that is wrong). So the internal Deezer scrobbling cannot display the "Scrobbling now" track on your Last.fm user profile which would also need a different Last.fm API request than the one for scrobbling.

The browser extension Web Scrobbler can do this, but then you would have to use the Deezer web player exclusively which e.g. means no FLAC streaming if you have a HiFi account. So I prefer the internal Deezer scrobbling with the desktop app and correct the mistakes afterwards with the new Last.fm feature of bulk editing the scrobbles in your library.

Last but not least the Mentor.fm online tool uses Deezer as its playback source, and it also displays the currently playing track in its GUI (not for scrobbling), but I don't know how this works if the Deezer API does not offer it.

By the way, while this thread is one year old and has almost 19k views, there also is a similar idea with "only" 3.5k views and 95 votes, so maybe these two should be merged or at least more interested people should vote on the idea.

Hi to all,

I had this problem since July or August, Deezer used to be my favourite music streaming service, I installed it to all of my devices since many years now, but I’m not using it anymore since months now, it’s such a shame cause I can’t scrobble some of my fav artists, since they’re not available on more ‘commercial music’ services.

I jump here (and on LastFM forum...) to see the evolution of this problem every now and again, it seems very weird we’re in November and the problem it’s still not solved… Many users are unhappy

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for coming back to us. A lot of scrobbles have appeared today with the same issue of multiple scrobbles (i.e. two songs being scrobbled for 20-30 times each).
Still nothing works for me. Only with plugin. I was desperate for some solution to the problem. I bought a Yandex music subscription.

I think it started on Wednesday by missing out a few scrobbles and then got worse each day, so probably there is a backlog of "cached" scrobbles somewhere on the Deezer servers which gets overloaded and needs hours to days to fill the gap. For example I just got some old Deezer scrobbles on my Last.fm profile that I have heard yesterday.

These late scrobbles have the current date and time though, as if I have just heard them.

And something is wrong with this forum again, no Edit option for postings anymore, and missing icons, too.
Finally, nice news here! Just checked it on Web/Chrome/MacOS both old and new design , and iOS app - everything is working immediately. Thank you for the fix, Deezer, and don't forget about scrobbler for all your further updates 😉

I can confirm that the internal scrobbling option of the Deezer web player works again, also with the same quirks as before, i.e. not submitting the ampersand symbol in artist and track names and only scrobbling after a track has ended, not after 50% of the track length. Using their old Windows 10 app will also scrobble then, probably just like their mobile apps as well. I don't know if their new beta desktop app also uses the internal scrobble option then or not, as I cannot test it.

Works now for me!
There is no scrobble through the android app, when will that return?

@Private Person: There is no extra option for connecting Last.fm and Deezer in the iOS app or any other apps except for their web player in the Alerts & Sharing tab. This works via both APIs like Last.fm and Spotify, so it will scrobble with all Deezer devices and apps.

@Flo.Deezer @Anja @Rafael. -- Excellent that scrobbling works again. Thanks for fixing it!! Also Jon @Maddieman from Last.fm, thanks for supporting the work. 👏 I have only tried the web player so far, and I hope it is already okay on the mobile and desktop as well.

Now that the topic is still fresh, I would like to bring your attention to the fact that the current implementation of the Last.fm Scrobbling API at Deezer is quite rudimentary. To my best understanding it should not be a complex API to follow properly. Please see (and all: vote!) this topic that I raised about a year ago: https://en.deezercommunity.com/ideas/324. Thanks a lot.

Hi there @athenatria

Thanks for reaching out. This hasn't been fixed yet. But have you tried scrobbling via Deezer in your browser with the Last.fm extension?

Hello. I dont use my browser for listening to music. I have an android dap and that’s where i listen.

OK, so to summarize: it seems that this issue was partially-solved.

It works, BUT... only for some people, and only on the web player/desktop app. Android app still doesn't scrobble?

I've grown quite comfortable with 3rd party solutions for scrobbling instead of the half-hearted official Deezer implementations. The only instance where I'd need this is in the desktop app.

Is there any way to enable/disable scrobbling per app? (for example: off on webplayer, off on Android, on on desktop) Or is the toggle option global only?

Today Last.fm released the new feature of saving edited scrobbles for later playback for Last.fm Pro users:

https://support.last.fm/t/save-edited-scrobbles/638

Save edited scrobbles in bulk for artists, albums and tracks

This will help Deezer users who have connected to Last.fm in their Sharing Preferences to correct their scrobbles from known issues like missing ampersands. The overview of edited scrobbles shows the original scrobble, and you can see your edits when clicking on the Edit icon there. It is sorted alphabetically per track and artist name. The external bulk scrobble edit script by Rudey should also work with the new feature without needing an update, as you can see in the screenshot, so you can now bulk edit artist, album and track names at once and only once.

Thanks for confirming that it works after disabling your adblocker. By the way, another reason why someone may not see this part of the Alerts & Sharing tab is being only a family member, but not the main account.

Concerning Android scrobbler apps, you shouldn’t need them for Deezer, as explained in the related Last.fm FAQ and also in this thread. But if you want to scrobble other streaming sites or Android music players, a good choice should be Pano Scrobbler, Simple Scrobbler or Scroball. I think they all should still work with Android 8. The official Last.fm Android app also works for many music players and some streaming sites including Deezer.

Also note that if you enable Deezer scrobbling both in the Deezer web player and in any Android scrobbler, you will get duplicate scrobbles, so it is better to disable one of these methods.

ok did some checking, seem that scrobbling on android app is working on the official catalogue, but scrobbling the uploaded mp3 songs from pc via deezer are not scrobbled at all like before.

This only works with the external browser extension Last.fm web scrobbler which is available for Chrome, Opera and Firefox.
It finally works on iOS app!

Hey guys, Deezer doesn’t send my data correctly to Last.fm!

I’m listening to (Remix) version of a track but, Deezer scrobbles the original one.

Anyone experiencing the same issue?

There are several Android apps that can scrobble from Deezer without their broken internal scrobbling, e.g. Pano Scrobbler or Scroball, also the new version of the Last.fm Android app should be able to do this.

Wow! May I ask why you do not listen on your computer?

You do not have a computer?

I had computer free life back in the days in 2016, because my computer of that time was almost half a year in repair… and I was tired to use phone all the time. Simply it was too much. With Chromebook laptop I can blog, which was almost impossible with my phone, even if it is good one tech piece.

On my Samsung phone I use Last.fm scrobbler.

Right, on beta desktop app as well. The four tracks scrobbled earlier today were also added in the meantime with their correct time stamps.

By the way, Deezer also seems to scrobble a track when you are skipping it no matter at which part of the track. That is not a good idea in my opinion, because sometimes you just want to check a playlist/album/radio whatever and not listen to it. That is why the default implementation of Last.fm actually only scrobbles a track after at least 50% of its length.

I can confirm that scrobbling is down on both iOS and web player. :(
A lot of tracks were not scrobbled during the day.

Same here. Scrobbling again does not work on iOS (iPhone). It had been back to working fine the last 10 days or so, but has stopped scrobbling at some point yesterday. It worked yesterday in the morning, but not at night.
