Deezer has discontinued their service to Russia until further notice. According to a post earlier by Deezer, free users will lose access, and paid users will lose access after their next billing date.

This is embarrassing... People are not guilty what is happening...

Hello, today I have noticed that my subscription renewal was canceled, what was the reason of that and why I can't change it?

Hi @Maxim Beshlyaga . Are you from Russia? If so, Deezer have suspended their service until further notice in the country from the next billing date. If not from Russia, maybe contact support .

Я не получал никакого предварительного уведомления об отключении в России!

We are discontinuing our service in Russia because we can no longer operate in this territory under the current legal conditions and economic sanctions.
Unfortunately as we run our service in a similar manner in Belarus, we have to stop operating there too.

You will still be able to enjoy Deezer benefits until the end of your current subscription period (already billed).
Until the end of your subscription, you will still be able to listen to Deezer ad-free, download music, all in high fidelity. However, your subscription will not be renewed when it comes to an end, and you will not be charged by Deezer anymore.
If you are on a monthly plan, your access to Deezer will end within a month.

We don't know yet when we will operate again in Russia and Belarus, but we will keep our users informed.

Dear Team Deezer!

I can fully understand your anger with the situ, but cancelling Russian users you are sending a wrong message to the wrong people. The Deezer subscribers here are progressive part of the society and by alienating them you achieve nothing, and actually the opposite - turning them to the Dark Side. These times are hard enough for us, believe me.

Please try to pass on this concept to your policymakers and looking forward hearing more fine sounds from your team.

Peace to Ukraine! Peace to All!

Good afternoon.
Unfortunately I learned about your decision.
You made this decision.
I did not start what is happening in the world now, but I paid you My money, and you provided me with the musical material that I like.
Now you will not receive these funds (and, accordingly, music performers).
Well, I will look for how to find this musical material on the Internet. And most likely I will find it on other resources.
When you reappear with a proposal for cooperation, it is not certain that I will choose you.
Thank you for being with me.

Today I received an email about Deezer closing all Russian accounts

why…….

Please, I wasn't even born when Putin became a president. I couldn't possibly change the situation and I never supported him. I mean, I turned 18 only a few months ago and couldn't join any demonstrations till that day cause I didn't want any consequences for my parents and cause it's genuinely dangerous to present an opposite opinion in a totalitarian state we're "lucky" to exist.

I used Deezer for 3 years or so, you were my favorite streaming service and I never thought music could be involved in such geopolitical confrontation.

One of the accounts I truly admired was your Ukraine redactor, Sergii. I've discovered a lot of good albums thanks to him.

Things could be worse than losing a streaming service access, I know. But please stop that generalization of Russian society. Even if the reasonable people are a minority in Russia, that doesn't mean we all can just emigrate.

At least I wish you could provide some complicated way to keep my account, changing the location via VPN or smth, I don't know.…

it's like, my mentality is half made up of music, at least

and my whole listening life, all my 900+ saved albums and 100+ playlists - its all there

I even communicate with some people through Deezer - with my close friends and my ex girlfriend - by sending songs or sharing playlists

Isn't Deezer afraid to lose those users to Amazon Music, Spotify or any other music streaming service? The question remains if those users will return when Deezer is available  again in Russia?

Hey @Salem85

Deezer is discontinuing service in Russia & Belarus until further notice. Free users will not have access to Deezer anymore whilst paying users will have access until their next billing date, upon which they lose access to Deezer.

As a user from Russia, I want to say that Deezer users here are terribly few, but they all understand the benefits of your service - believe me, there are subscriptions with much better conditions in Russia, users from Russia are with you not because of this.

Being a minority, we can be smart enough to use your service through workarounds. You won't win if we can get full access to the media library semi-legally, through accounts in other countries, or bypass your protection natively by talented modders. And we will be able to.

Believe me, the minority I'm talking about are not happy about government action. Trying to play politics (which is exactly what you're doing - for example, Spotify said that destroying its service in Russia would only make it worse for real people) will only make it worse for the service or its reputation. I hope you'll hear these words and don't completely deactivate accounts and break access from Russia - it's the only way we can stay with Deezer without hurting your service.

Thank you Deezer (*sarcasm) for cancelling all Russian accounts on political reasons.

You’re already replaced - there are other streaming services out there...

I am moving from Russia to Turkey. Will I be able to renew my subscription from there?

Which is by the way a complete load of @#$t, because currently there are no specific sanctions prohibiting EU company to stream to Russian users or accept payment from users in Russia. When Deezer made a voluntary decision to stop servicing a country for political reasons, at least have  courage not to pretend it’s due to “sanctions”.

EDIT: As I found myself today losing my favourite music in my home AV, my car and for my teenage daughter and elderly father too,  I was testing other solutions. So far the best alternative solution I’ve found is SberMusic - FLAC streaming, decent quality, very decent tracks selection (I listen to classic rock, jazz and classical music - so far no loss and even some gains vs. Deezer). Also significantly cheaper, especially if you take a promo yearly package from the bank - 1390 RUR per year currently.

Hi. I started to use Deezer about 5 years ago. I lived in Russia. I moved from Russia now. I received a notification couple days ago that my subscription will be ended soon due to political situation and sanctions.
Since I don’t live in Russia anymore, will my subscription continue to function? Or what shall I do?

How do you currently pay for your account? If you’re currently paying via a credit card issued by a Russian bank or direct transfer from a Russian bank Deezer would have no reasonable choice, from a business perspective, than to cancel your account since there’s no longer a fund transfer mechanism in place for them to get paid. I suggest contacting Deezer Support Team to update your country of residence and method of payment.

I don’t think you understand the nature of the sanctions. Under the current sanctions Deezer and other European companies can’t receive payments from most Russian banks since they’ve been removed from the SWIFT network. Even though they have your credit card number they won’t get paid by your bank since there’s no longer a transfer mechanism in place for this to happen.
