 Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

 What should I post here? :thinking:

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

I just installed Deezert on my laptop. When I play a song and wait for it to finish, the next song doesn't play, and when you press the button to go to the next song or any other song in general, the same song is produced from the beginning. I have to close my account and log in again to choose another song, but the same problem keeps happening again. I don't know what to do to solve this problem.

Hi, I’m a new subscriber and I jumped right into Deezer Hifi but to be honest it really doesn’t make a good first impression right now due to how broken the navigation is on Windows 10. I’m on version 5.10.0. I noticed someone had the same problem I have right now before v5 but I still have these issues, and I’m on fresh install:

  • weird navigation backstack history.
  • navigating back sometimes does not go back to previous page, just scrolls in the same page.
  • clicking a navigation target sometimes doesn’t do anything (e.g. clicking Playlists), I have to click some other link first then click “Playlists” again for it to actually load the page.
  • going to Preferences sometimes just doesn’t work. I have to restart the app.
  • (while on Deezer Free) after an ad plays, I can’t play anything. Play button does not respond for both music and podcast. I have to restart the app.

  • genuine question: Is anyone from the devs working on bugs?
    It’s just that in the 2 years that I’ve used your service, none of these bugs seem to be resolved or they reappear with new updates.
    I understand that it can’t be easy with a small team, but I can’t keep justifying paying a premium price for software that feels like it’s stuck in alpha.

    examples:
    - Multiple random daily crashes that requires restarting the app and browsing to the playlist and song that was playing.
    - Songs that won’t download.
    - Artists and songs get recommended while I flagged them as “don’t recommend” (months ago)
    - After update or random login prompt, the app is blank or It gets stuck in a failed login loop.
    This blank screen also sometimes happens when resizing the window.
    - After removing a song from a playlist and then selecting another song in the playlist, a different song starts playing and the whole playlist seems broken until restarting the app.

I’ve been trying to listen to music in Deezer in these pasts weeks but whenever I play a song, it will repeat itself over and over again even do I press another song, skip it, play the radio… The song can be paused … but it won’t stop repeating the song until I close the program through the Task Manager, and play another song, just to repeat this newly selected song. I’ve been hoping for a new release but … I’m getting tired. I can’t listen to music anymore… I restarted my computer too and this keeps happening… please help
Edit: this is happening not only in the desktop app but also through the web.

Wow the browser app and the Windows 10 desktop app are buggy as hell, almost beyond being usable. The sad fact is when I tried Deezer about a year ago it was the same. This lack of progress really disappoints, especially given that the service overall is quite good.

I’m using the MS Store Deezer 4.32.20 and the Web app through the latest Firefox on Windows 10.

  1. Uploading MP3s through desktop app simply doesn’t work at all, neither through drag-n-drop nor upload button. You can select files, click OK and nothing happens
  2. No feedback when uploading MP3s
  3. Sometimes when uploading multiple MP3s through the browser (remember, through the app it doesn’t work at all), the process silently stops half way
  4. Filtering own MP3s doesn’t work in either desktop or web. Type whatever you want into the search box, nothing happens
  5. When you add a song into a playlist and then click into that playlist, the whole playlist becomes borked: you scroll down and it kind of scrolls through playlist multiple times and track numbers start over. In desktop app can be fixed by restarting the app or a page refresh in the browser
  6. When reordering tracks in a playlist it gets borked in a similar fashion to #5. Restart or page refresh helps
  7. When you delete a track from a playlist sometimes it remains visible until you restart the app or refresh the page. Sometimes instead of the track been deleted, some other track disappears until you restart app
  8. Multiple ‘eventual consistency’ issues, e.g. you add a track into a playlist, it shows ok, then you refresh the page and it vanishes, then you refresh once again and it’s back
  9. When you search for something and click on a search result, the back button sometimes doesn’t work, either does no effect or takes you to some random places of the search history

Do you guys have any roadmap for the apps or something? The app quality is just ludicrous, even some React sample apps written by year 3 students are better quality than Deezer.

Deezer, What are you guys doing?

First, you introduced CAPTCHA, in the name of security???

After Captcha, the desktop application now opens a webbrowser page where I have to sign in???

What is the purpose of that? Security? You use electron to turn your website to a desktop application, at least show the login-webpage inside your application.

Or maybe swith to PWA (Progress Web app) completely, like spotify did. A user browses to your website and can install it as a app.

About security. As long as I can remember, I have a family subscription. I have to share my userid & pwd with my family members in case they have to re-login on their phones/laptops? I have informed you about this security-issue.

Spotify has all of this and I am seriously thinking of moving away from Deezer if you can not bring a descent security & UX-improvement.

As music  is about the ears not the eyes , Deezer is the only platform I would clearly pay my hard earned money for , 

Now one last time Deezer - at the very least , please fix the below on the Windows App ,

Playlist tiles - Do they have to be so big ?? , At-least give us the option to change to a list view , It’s really annoying.

Offline mode - A button to activate offline mode would solve so many issues , surely an offline switch is essential for a platform that offers offline mode , wouldn’t you think so ??

Uploaded MP3s -  Give us a way to organise our uploaded MP3 files , it’s Pretty much 101 in any software Library of MP3s ,.


Paying HIFI subscribers who use the Windows App , are clearly serious music listeners , we are not children , we don’t need huge big colourful icons .  We want a professional looking U.I for a professional sounding service. 
You have made the android version superb , it’s got everything you need for a mobile device.
Yet when it comes to Windows app , you simply do the opposite and leave out everything it needs .

Why have threads like this and never implement one single suggestion , pull your thumb out and give us a better U.I 

How about Hifi subscribers get a different U.I altogether, that would make your HIFI package extra special , no-one else has done this before.

 

Deezer 5.30.140 for Windows.

After switching to Deezer application with alt+tab or via taskbar pressing Space does not pause (or start) playback. You have to click somewhere inside the Deezer window in order to sort of “focus” UI and make Space work.

(Curiously, Ctrl+arrows can change volume immediately after swtching to the applicatio, additional clicking is not necessary)

The Favourites pages refuses to work

Windows store app 5.30.60 running on Windows 11

The sub-menu (Favourite tracks, etc.) works well.

 

I also get to see the offline error message (title bar) quite often on the PC. But the music is still playing and it disappears after a while.

Weirdly the error message is not visible on the screenshot, but that is a Windows bug ;)

Start Deezer, move the window around -=> Crash 100% within 5s of starting window drag

Actually I just tried, it crashes on a single screen as well, but it takes a little more jiggling of the window.

Deezer unfortunately has too many bugs that ruin the experience and do not justify the price, which is higher than all other streaming services in my country, Greece. Sadly, I have already paid for a whole year of Deezer. I’m quite disappointed. 

Hi,

I am a new subscriber, and quite frustrates by not being able to navigate properly and having to go through every step again to find the next track i want to play.   For example if i am browsing a genr,e and click on an album, select a track, then want to go back to the list of albums, the navigation just  does nothing, and i have to go through the menus until i get back to the place i want to be.

Am i using the latest version?  is this a known problem?  how long will it take for a fix?

You're right, but it was fixed. It just came back. Rest assured, we're working on separate major updates for our desktop app which will solve a lot of problems. We just need you to bear with us a bit longer! This thread here should keep you updated too, so I've moved your reply.

Hey @andreynering try uninstalling the app, restarting your Mac, and reinstalling it after downloading the app again. Let me know if it helps!

On HP laptop with Win 10 Enterprise, Deezer 5.30.320 crashes/quits when I am moving the Deezer app window with the mouse.

Not just minimises, it diappears from Task Manager.

It happened several times.

Actions taken: restarted computer, checked and no pending Deezer app or Windows updates.

I have this as well.   I dop have a 3440x1440 resolution screen.  If I change the resolution down to 1920x1200 or below  it stops doing it though.  2560x1080 and above crshes on move.

I have a screen recording if you want me to send it to you.

Guys, with recent updates you broke Mac app 😞 Now I cannot:

  • keep the app in bg (whenever I click “close”, the app quits);
  • click toolbar icon to play/pause - clicking it now brings the app into foreground.

Now I have to Cmd-H to hide the window… Overall, app usage became very frustrating overall. I might not list all the cases, but please get it back :D

Probably occurring as I block trackers/email and marketing.

Deezer you really need to stop the tracking!

 

The Mac version of the App still doesn’t work properly, when you click on “Artist” or discography, after the initial click the links stop working.  very frustrating.  

On the verge of giving up… i’ll switch to the browser version… hopefully that works. 

Hi there. I can’t work out how to have Deezer 5.10.0 ‘Launch on Startup’ on my new Windows 10 machine (Dell, running Windows 10 Pro; version 21H1, OS build 19043.985; Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.2020.0).
I’ve flicked the toggle on the app countless times
I tried to add it to the startup in Windows using the settings or even dragging a shortcut into the folder in Appdata but I can’t find a Deezer executable anywhere on the machine. Even though I’m listening to it as I type. Makes no sense to me.

A side-bar of the above is that I can’t put a shortcut to the app on my desktop, due not being able to find the damn executable.

The other annoyance is that I have Deezer pinned to the Taskbar (and the Start menu, but not on Start-up) but every now and then - at least once a day - it crashes and vanishes from the taskbar.
Often this is when I minimise, but also when I drag the app from screen 2 to screen 1, which involves crossing the taskbar as screen 2 is above screen 1.

A last point - this thread has 315 replies, but no way to do a text search in case an issue is already handled. A proper forum layout would make it more user-friendly for the customers.

 I can confirm that this issue also persists in v 4.26 in Windows 2004 (build 19041.572). 

Subjectively, it seems like the buffering issue is most prevalent when on playlists or flow. Playing full albums doesn’t seem to produce the behaviour as much, or possibly at all. I’ll listen lots of albums today and see. 

 

Buffering issue is also present when playing albums, it’s not just a playlist issue.

Apparently, this issue is resisting to go way. Our devs are working on it, but it might be sorted in the next release after .30

The good news is that we're separately working on major updates for the desktop app in order to kill these annoying bugs once and for all. Thank you for your support!

I really apologise for being so negative, because Deezer in fact is awesome. On the bright side:

  1. I can sort search results yay! (hello green service)
  2. I can properly upload my music without those weird tricks (again hello green service)
  3. Mobile app is not too bad
  4. Flow is amazing
  5. Overall Deezer seems to have more music (or it’s just more music that I listen to)
  6. Real shuffle, instead of that joke of a shuffle in the green service
