Deezer not showing up as music service in Google Home
Hello everyone. I have a Deezer family subscription, and in the Google Home app on Android, I cannot get Deezer to show up in the list of music services. Note that Spotify does show up in the list (see screenshot). Also, when I tap on “other music services”, nothing happens.
I really would like to use this because I have a Google Home device and I cannot play music on it if Deezer is not added as a music service in Google Home. I can, of course, cast Deezer to my device (like I’m casting to a chromecast) but I cannot use the speech recognition of the google home device and tell google “play Michael Jackson on Deezer” because it is not in the list of music services.
Thanks for any clue on this.

Since this week I drive an XC40 Recharge with Android Automotive. Deezer does not support this platform. I am a happy user of Deezer HiFi via Sonos but will switch to one of the 3 competitors that support Android Auto. One of them also with HiFi quality. Hate doing this though.
Hello there @andre.rottier
it appears that progress is being made.
@dee_dirk posted this somewhat recently:
Hello all,
Something is happening. This was posted today in the French speaking community:
Was a happy user for many years (10+). Could live with the lack of integration with google assistent though my home is mostly voice controlled. I was an early user of Sonos so the Deezer UI was not used and voice integration is done by Sonos. Loved the lossless music quality. Now my car does not run Sonos so Sonos does not help here with “play via Deezer”. I canceled my Deezer HiFi subscription and might come back when Deezer is ready.

I understand where you are coming from; a native app through AAOS for deezer would be ideal. I am happy to hear that it is being developed as we speak.
In the meantime, I am using CarPlay to enjoy my deezer subscription. I am able to maintain lossless audio quality and all the deezer features I have come to love.
I hope that we will see you back with deezer soon.
Cheers,
G
I used carplay in my last car and deezer worked ok. However there are sone drawbacks. Among them:
Hi google for some services and hi siri for others
No free, unlimited internet
Wired connection from phone
Competing navigation systems: Maps and Cards
No additional services fot EVs in Cards like charging points and charging advice
…
So, i will wait and see

You make some good points, and I realize everyone’s use cases differ:
Hey Google/Hey Siri doesn’t bother me.
At times my phone’s internet connection is more reliable, and I have an unlimited data plan.
The wired CarPlay is what maintains the lossless audio quality. When I tried streaming Amazon Music and Tidal losslessly through their respective native AAOS apps, I got buffering, pausing, and other issues that I don’t get with deezer through CarPlay.
You can still use Carplay and the native Google nav app (with all its benefits) simultaneously, as long as you don’t initiate a route on any of the CarPlay nav apps. They don’t need to compete, AAOS and CarPlay complement each other nicely.
Again, hope it works out for you and I have enjoyed this conversation.
Thanks G, enjoyed the conversation too. I am/was an audiophil listener. However my ears are getting a bit worse @70. Guess i got a bit frustrated because Deezer took years to start the development and did not respond to the many requests for these integration features. I read that you have experience with Tidal. Why do you prefer Deezer HiFi above Tidal?

I was gifted a one-year subscription to Tidal HiFi Plus, but I didn’t renew it, so I feel like I gave it a shot and can offer an informed opinion.
Tidal’s recommendations were/are just so stale. Daily mixes were the same songs, just reordered, with maybe one or two changed. Every single day. Same with generating track mixes.
It didn’t stream smoothly to my Echo devices, and there was no personal playlist support through Alexa. A full 73% of the Alexa skill for Tidal ratings are one star.
CarPlay integration was lacking and it was constantly buffering, no matter the device.
It’s a tired trope by now, but yes, I was constantly getting rap/hip hop pushed at me.
They doubled the subscription rate ($20/mo US) under the banner of direct artist payout, but it hadn’t been implemented almost a year later when I left.
Holes in the catalog that mattered to me.
MQA shenanigans.
I feel like Tidal is just trying to be Spotify’s cooler hip-hop brother, with the black and grey UI and virtually everything else the same.
With deezer, everything is a clean, CD-quality FLAC. Editor-curated playlists, Flow, Songcatcher, no ethical drama, streams well everywhere I use it. It has its own identity, its own UI, color palette, philosophy, community, et al.
Deezer just feels better.

Looks like there is no further development. Still 90% of the EU countries are not supported. And it looks like there will be no support at all. So I guess we need to move to Spotify which is fully supported by Google nest hub. Sad but...

Best of luck over at Spotify, I hope it works out for you. I’m spoiled by CD-quality audio (I’m old enough to have lived through LPs, 8-tracks, cassettes, and CDs) and could never go back to that compressed MP3 sound.

I've canceled my Spotify subscription this month only to be disappointed to find out that Deezer isn't avaliable on my PS4. There's a 5y old topic about this issue with a lof of responses from the same Rudi person and promises that "our devs will be working on that feature soon". Some people say that it is Sony's fault, or some kind of Spotify exclusive contract or whatever (all speculation).
Now the SAME kind of issue happens with Google Assistant and you're telling me it's GOOGLE'S fault? Does anyone else see the pattern here? (I'm in Brazil btw, the biggest country in south America, but apparently that's not enough priority to the Deezer team...)
Either Spotify is a very rich company that invest much more money on that kind of integration with every platform, or they (and their devs) are much more competent than Deezer's, which is very unfortunate for us as customers...
Hello @callero.lucas sorry for the late answer.
Indeed Lucas, if you check for example Google Nest on Google page you will find that it is still not available on Brazil. There isn’t any company fault, is just that we don’t have it available there.
Regarding the other hot topic “Deezer available in Sony Playstation” it is a question of contract exclusivity with other music streaming app as far as I know. We are available in the Xbox universe.

Thank you very much for your response! I appreciate it
Hi Deezer
I would also like to know if this is still in the making, with while Google Nest/Home and Deezer thing. I live in Denmark in the EU. And yes I can cast from my phone to the Nest devices. But how far are you with the full integraty? It looks like you have a "how to" guide. But I am not finding the link button or Deezer logo inside the home app anywhere. I woul like to know the progress or a useful guide if there is a so.
Kind regards
Lars
Hi @Lars Berggren currently there’s not an ETA for a full integration in your country. Apologies for the inconvenience
Hey Rudi, any updates regarding this topic in sweden ?
Hello @Tillbom Rudi is not with us any more, but thanks for bringing this back.
I would love to give you better news, but unfortunately, there are no changes in the supported countries.
Just double check with the team, and the countries where Deezer is available are the ones we have in the article - Deezer on Google Nest Audio
A workaround that sometimes works in voice assistants is to change the location of the device to a country that is supported.
Hi
my deezer service stopped this morning. Is there now an issue affecting the UK?
I agree with @Stefan Sandberg. I live in Sweden and would really like to use Voice Commands to have Deezer play in my Google Home speakers (not Casting).
