I know that exist a client for Windows and Mac, but I can't to find any one for Linux. In my opinion the web version es pretty bad and the company can develop a port for their client.

I think that is important to cover all the platforms for all the users.

Deezer is a great music service but we really need support for Linux.

Linux is becoming more and more popular for the average end user and I think there is  a real need for native support.

I really hope this is something that’s coming in the future.

Spotify sucks more and more with every update, so we definitely need a Deezer desktop application! I would

Hi there @Hubiquity @isavegas

Thank you for your support and contribution, much appreciated!

We'll pass your comments on :thumbsup_tone2:

I’d like to make a suggestion about linux app (if it will be developed some day). It would be nice if it could be run in command-line mode without GUI. This feature may be redundant on other OS but linux users really love this kind of things.

Thanks for the feedback @yaBoroda, very useful. Will pass it on

So just to confirm, officially there is not going to be a Deezer version for at least Ubuntu right? Sad to hear, it was one of the things that I was looking forward to, to finally move away from Spotify :(

Yes, it was done for Windows and Mac, so we just need the time to do the same for Linux, but our devs are maxed out at the moment. It's good feedback to pass, @teqteq. It'll reinforce the idea to our product managers :thumbsup_tone2:

I was actually meaning - why can’t someone in the OSS community just develop and release this themselves? Something like just wrapping a WebKit browser that does nothing but goes straight to the Deezer web application? Or am I missing something? I guess maybe people are looking for some kind of native audio-engine or UI integration?

A Reddit user posted something about Linux support with a GitHub project:

https://www.reddit.com/r/deezer/comments/evxpow/deezer_for_linux_with_offline_support/

Thanks for sharing @bluezzbastardzz. It isn't officially supported by Deezer, though. But if you guys are interested, have a go and share with the community how it goes :thumbsup_tone2:

I am sad that Linux users are bypassed.
I like the service, but I also want a native client for Linux. Experience using the service through a browser is not the most convenient.

Do it please.

I decided to check out the Windows 10 Deezer app and when I went to download it, it directed me to the Microsoft Store. I thought “It might be a UWP app” but when I installed it I quickly noticed that it was just an Electron app. Opening the menu at the top left proved that it was Electron and so did the memory usage. First of all, no need to only have it in the Microsoft Store. There should be a link to a direct download too. Secondly, there’s no excuse for not having an official Linux client since you’re using Electron. There’s not much work involved.

And so now that I know it’s an Electron app, I know that it’s probably not that much more different to the web player. Y’all should just make a “PWA” aka, create a shortcut to it from your browser. In Chrome/Chromium and Chromium based browsers, you can do this: Menu> More tools> Create shortcut…. and click on open as window and rename the title to just “Deezer” and then press Create! To be clear, you don’t get HiFi or offline

Deezer should add add to homescreen support to their web layer and really should be using Google’s Lighthouse auditing as well supporting the Media Session API so we can control it with media keys.

Wow, thanks again @raccoonsarecool I'll pass your comments, verbatim, directly to our desktop app teams here at Deezer. I especially like the comment you made about Google's Lighthouse.

For a direct download link, you can check this topic here

yeah Google’s Lighthouse is pretty detailed! They have performance and PWA audits :)

Thanks for the direct download link!

I've had a discussion with one of our developers about this - and Google Lighthouse which we use too :nerd:

The PWA idea worked well for me on Fedora 31

+1 for a native Linux app

+1 for a native Linux app

And the support keeps growing! :nerd:

Thank you @mce @phily245

What’s the point of using Electron if it won’t result in all three major platforms getting support? I have used most of the workarounds mentioned in this thread and they work, but CPU and memory consumption is just atrocious. Please, make a Linux client, if the community can do it, why can’t you? Least you could do is let us help you build it for Linux. If you can’t do this I’m afraid I won’t be subscribing anytime soon.

It’s a shame really, because Deezer’s recommendation system is just so good...but they can’t be bothered to support Linux even though they poured all of their efforts into abandoning the native UWP and macOS clients and replacing them with Electron apps...

Won’t happen, guys; let’s just face it. I visit this thread every two or three months, just to get the same info over and over - I’ll be passing this info to our team, it’s on backlog, etc@Rudi is very helpful, but it seems that either: Linux isn’t really on the target list or they simply don’t have enough manpower to carry the task.

I’ll keep coming every now and then, as usual, but won’t hold my breath.

Hi @jkelol111 @Ivo Cavalcante

I really appreciate your feedback and presence here in our community. Ivo, that's really what it is: our manpower is now focused on delivering features a majority of our users asked for or fixing the bugs that affect most users too. Developing a Linux app was in the target list, but dropped on the queue due to other features being more in demand. If you ask any of our developers they'd work on this in any given day. But they have to follow the main priorities for the product - IF we can't please everyone at the same time.

When you come here, last month, last year, or last week, we collect the comments and speak to the right product managers and developers about what you said. We say, "users continue to ask for this integration and this is why..."

So all feedback is important to keep the idea alive in our queue of priorities :pray_tone2:

It’s been on the roadmap for more than two years. :/

You mean this topic has been created more than two years ago @raccoonsarecool

When our community started, the forums were bombarded with ideas, good ones like this. But it takes time for them to be included in the planning and be considered for development.

Thank you for your support :relaxed:

I was looking at Your Ideas Review #2. It was “on the roadmap” 2 years ago.

You're a good detective @raccoonsarecool :smirk: . Yes, it was also on the roadmap before (I thought a year ago, but we're now in 2020 so that's correct), that's why we started and did initial tests. But in the end, we couldn't carry on and prioritise it. I've also covered that here in this topic
