I know that exist a client for Windows and Mac, but I can't to find any one for Linux. In my opinion the web version es pretty bad and the company can develop a port for their client.

I think that is important to cover all the platforms for all the users.

Hi,

I not read all topic this page, but two years have passed and nothing this app’s.

You're a good detective @raccoonsarecool :smirk: . Yes, it was also on the roadmap before (I thought a year ago, but we're now in 2020 so that's correct), that's why we started and did initial tests. But in the end, we couldn't carry on and prioritise it. I've also covered that here in this topic

I didn’t have to do any detective work. It was the first related topic in the column on the right lol

@raccoonsarecool I meant you're tuned with everything that's going on  thanks for the feedback!

I recently created an Ubuntu script to install Deezer based on the fantastic work done by IlyaGulya and SibrenVasse on an AUR package for Arch Linux. It should work on Debian too since Ubuntu is based on Debian, but I haven't tested it.

You can view instructions on how to install it here https://github.com/siphomateke/deezer. It's not at all official and isn't guaranteed to work with future Deezer versions but it's what I am now using.

I'm not sure why Deezer hasn't added support for Linux yet considering the Deezer desktop app for windows is an Electron app and runs just fine on Linux with a few minor tweaks.

Hopefully this helps my fellow Ubuntu users.

Hi @sipho

Thanks for sharing this with our community, it means a lot :v_tone2:

@sipho thanks for your awesome work. I installed it and all went good but at I get an error at the login, which won’t allow me to get to the main page. Here’s a screenshot so you can understand better:

Hi there @pochopsp

Try clearing the cache and cookies from the browser opened to authenticate the account, if it's of any help. I'm sure @sipho will give you his ideas too

+1 for native official version support. It’s a shame that the community made something at that easy way that can’t be supported officialy by deezer. I used deezer a few years ago but I passed to spotify because they have a native client in Linux that works OOTB. But I wouldn’t mind pass my family account to deezer again if there is official support.

I am testing the version of aur deezer and it is so good I think. But it’s no way that deezer developpers don’t give the needed support for this package..

Hello @Alblinux, thanks a lot for the positive feedback   Many users are requesting a client for Linux, it’s our job on the Community to show it our teams. so that we can make it happen in the future, so keep showing your support for this idea.

Have a great weekend!

I use manjaro and I'm interested too in a Deezer app for Linux. Only one question with Deezer premium. If you close the app the queue status is saved or the play is deleted and reset for the next start of the app?

I refer to the windows one app that is the "original" of the aur version of Deezer.

Seriously take time for seeing the version is awesome (efficient, with a tray ,almost no bugs.. it's the same as windows I think and its native in Linux...)

See the github for more info and please give this information to the developers. It's not need to have the best and perfect app since the start but at least having almost the same possibilities than Mac os os  windows .( The media keys and control are working too in that github)

https://github.com/SibrenVasse/deezer

I am using Spotify right now for example with family account

Thanks for sharing @Ronasonu have you tried checking to see if the option to sync queue lists is active? Click on the volume button on the player

sorry, I meant deezer free, I am thinking too the change to deezer family from spotify. And the thing that the queue get’s reset everytime make’s me worried..

In browser that happen too

I have a family account with spotify. Spotify is good, it works well and I love it. It has 2 main errors:

1No tray icon in Linux version( the idea is on spotify forums but they doesn’t hear us so..)

2 when you close sometimes the proccess are not killed  and you have to go to task manager and kill them in linux ( nothing important actually)

I am testing the app deezer in aur version, it works well. The problem? I am not sure if I goes to premium I would have or not the queue restored between closes. I mean, I add songs to the waiting list queue, I close the app with 4 remainig songs, I open the app, I find that the remaining songs are “ dissapeared” But I think is a limitation in deezer free plan so.. no worries.

I think the future month when the spotify plan gets ended I will go to deezer with the hoping that We are gonna get the linux native version so..

Guys, you won’t have much time because Linux native spotify vs deezer not officially app… it’s too hard to decide but I will go to you to test and try a month or a few. So have in mind that a few users are gonna go to your platform but it depends on you to maintain them or not.

I know that there is too much work and priorities, I know it, I have worked. But.. seriously this work is not too hard and it is not needed to have an stable release directly, only with the release and the correction/report of bugs is sufficient!

So, please, make this idea real in that 2020 year, you can do it, I trust you, team!

Yes @Ivo Cavalcante

We should be testing on Linux over the Summer but with no specific dates yet. I'll update this topic when the time comes.

I hope that this summer is going to be the definitively… There is no problem with putting an alpha release here I think so we can start testing ( and much more) it

We have a package in ArchLinux AUR, which installs an unofficial native app in ArchLinux based on Windows binaries, so porting seems to be very easy. Hint: Deezer Desktop is an electron-based app, so one may adapt it to any OS that has electron package.

@Rudi@Anja
I would have a question about this package. Does it count in deezer servers like a windows app and it means a deezer windows user or it count it like a Linux one?

I mean it’s not good to show more windows users than it’s real ( windows have enough users already xD)

@Rudi https://en.deezercommunity.com/got-an-idea-50/beta-testers-of-linux-app-64632?postid=162366#post162366 I have opened an idea so we can test the app like in android so the developpers can only do the job they have to do, the develop job, and we test.

( I’m very interested in the change you can see)

Hahaha @Alblinux don't worry about it! Our devs are quite passionate about a Linux integration too - they're well aware. The problem here is only prioritisation.

I appreciate the fact you created a topic, I'll be having a look at it too, thank you for your support :smirk:

It would be so nice if I could use Deezer instead of Spotify in Linux

Hello @Kidchip, yes, we know many users are requesting a Deezer client on Linux. We’re working on a lot of projects at the moment, but we’ll make sure to forward your feedback to our teams.

Thank you for contacting us

it’s not for being negative, but that’s sound like there won’t be any work on it in the short term. and this idea is the third more voted and  I think the first in relation to not answered ideas. So it’s a little bit sad that response..

2 years in road map and way to the 3 in total, come on discuss with developers, I don’t think that github developers of the app would mind if you base your work in this repository! You can fork them! it’s the good thing of open source projects!

I am not going to be a year waiting on this and if I go without a linux version, 630 votes in this(you can pay more developpers in th future surely for that linux users that come to deezer) and 2 years in roadmap I won’t come back I think. Because it’s not the way, you have to hear the clients!

And right now doesn’t appear that situation…

I am leaving spotify for not hear linux users having so less impact in one idea. https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Desktop-Linux-Desktop-App-Minimize-to-taskbar-or-system-tray/idi-p/4804945

I am sure most of them would leave spotify if your  future app have a tray icon natively and almost the same features although you have not some of spotify ones.

But I am sure that they won’t go to deezer without a native app… So Hurry up deezer! You have the way to make many spotify users between others to go deezer ones, don’t lose the opportunity. 30 of tray icon in spotify and most of 630 users of deezers that want a linux versions but probably are not paying a premium account for this reason.  I am very sure if you contract another devopper for working on Lnux version you are going to have most of the money back with us. I am sure that it’s a work of less than a month and you can base your work in github ones.. If a person without cacces to the real code of the app deezer version have done this , come on guys, you can do it better, faster and without problems!

Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback @Alblinux - this idea is so popular that we've passed on the comments to our product teams in a special report. Perhaps that's something we can look into even this year :fingers_crossed_tone2: I'll be forwarding your reply to our teams.

Let's hope that we can get an answer before being too late because 2 years and answers like these... I am going to move although
