Our master account is mine and I've created two secondary accounts: my wife, and my daughter (6 years old).

Could we add a way to have the secondary accounts log in without needing to log into the master account? Here are the reasons:

1. I use a really complex password that my wife cannot remember.

2. My daughter is using our old Squeezebox and it only can connect to the master account and no secondary. If the secondary user could independently log in, that wouldn't be a problem. I'm guessing many more apps would act like this.

3. Sonos only allows 1 Deezer source per email address. Allowing secondary user login would circumvent this issue.

4. My Master account isn’t interested in kiddy music but because we do listen to kiddy music on Sonos and Squeezebox, the Flow will be affected by and ruin it.
Hey everyone, thread More personal family accounts was moved into this one as it was the same request and this way it's easier to track how popular something is if it's all in one place 😉
It would be really cool if on a family account each profile had its own login so that way you didn't have to keep logging into every single account
Hi all....

Instead of including the profile, we can invite someone by email and this email stays as an account below my main account. It is as others application do and is the normal behavior expected.

My account is linked with facebook... imagine my girlfriend knowing my password... 😥😥

thanks thanks!

Hey there, I moved your idea into this existing one 🙂
Topic Deezer Family & Sonos was moved into this one to help keep all similar requests in the same place 🙂
Same problem here. Yamaha MultiCast is not supporting sub accounts. It's also not possible to add the Yamaha speaker directly as a device in the Deezer App. This would be my favorite.

Any plans to change this soon?

I just tried Spotify. Everything works out of the box. The Yamaha speaker and the family sub accounts. Is there a roadmap, when Spotify app will have the same features? Else I will have to switch over.
Is this being worked on?

Planning on moving to Google Play Music which offers a similar family plan but with the added bonus of password protected family accounts and free YouTube Red.
Finding posts about the inability for Deezer to support Family accounts on devices from two years ago now. The path to resolution is clear - use separate logins for the family members. What's also clear is, the amount of time this has been outstanding as an issue illustrates how little Deezer actually care (not at all).

All I can suggest is cancel and move to Spotify, because right now, Deezer on devices like Google Home, and Sonos is not fit for purpose.
Yes, I will be downgrading until this most basic of feature is added.
Hi there, thanks to everyone for your input.

This is unlikely to be changed at the moment. We have plans to improve the security among the profiles in Family accounts, however.

I am leaving the discussion open though, because we might find the time to change this in the future 😉
As others have mentioned. The adding members by providing your username and password, and then asking the family member to switch profiles is an inconvenience that Spotify and Google Play Music do without.

I understand Deezer doesn't want their service abused. Fair enough. But the person who pays for the service, should be able to remove or add a family member as they see fit. Not everyone having the same level of access and control.

The current setup Deezer employs means if you were to say to one member, 'no more Deezer for you', you'd have to change the main password and login again with a new password on all other devices (or provide the password to the other family members and not the one who you decide shouldn't have premium access) . I think it's an inconvenience that doesn't need to be there.

Another issue I've found, is what if a family member previously had their own free or premium account. You pay the family subscription and want to bring them on board. How do they bring all their favourites across? The current family profile system is flawed in that regard. Someone building up hundreds or thousands of songs on deezer free or premium, can't be transferred to your family account. Even though they are a family member. There is some functionality lost in the current model - which makes having to setup separate accounts as the only option, which is more costly.

Then there is the issue of password protection. You will have to choose a password which isn't similar to another password you might use (even though it's recommended to use many different passwords, you might use some double-ups). You're essentially giving your family your password, or having to log them in each device, and potentially perform the login every time the app is updated. Once again. Inconvenience. First world problems sure, but the current system is not effective as it should be.

You should be able to invite family members by email, remove them as you see fit, and the family users you invite, their unique profiles and all their songs they've acquired, are upgraded to premium.
Please take these comments seriously as the way the login or security for the family accounts work now is really not satisfying. It is absolutely not showing any respect to the users when you try to explain your own rules as an answer and there are so many examples for better solutions!

So please make a viable solution soon so we do not have to worry about sharing passwords.

Also adding free accounts to family accounts should be much more easy, also disconnecting them. All without copying numbers and playlists.
Today, there is a big limitation of Deezer on Alexa with a familiy subscription.

Only primary account is supported and there is no way to associate the device to secondary/Children accounts.

This creates a mess in listening history and flow in the owner / primary account.

For instance, my children are using Alexa and this change my recommandation flow.
I also want this - please add this feature!
I also want this - please add this feature!

Don't we all. It's a mess. It's the same on Google Home and Sonos, and the problem with Sonos has been around a long, long time. Deezer don't care about this at all, they're just happy to take the money for a broken service, whilst claiming it works "as designed".

Best I can suggest if you have Google Home, Alexa or Sonos, and you don't want your deezer profile corrupted, is to drop deezer family and get something else.

For example, to avoid corruption to my flow and scrobbles, I have to retain both a Deezer music subscription, for me, and a Google Play Music subscription for the family to use on Google Home. It's utterly stupid, and if there was a good way to convert all my playlist and favourites I'd have left a long time ago.
Well, since it does not seem this is getting added any time soon, I will switch to Spotify. Who ever implemented this needs to rethink their career choice urgently. Sharing a login between multiple people is the definition of a privacy breach.
Hi @Sirence

Do you use Netflix? Do you share it with your family? It's the same process... One login and choose your profile....

Edit.

Though I do agree with you it's divided opinions if this is the best method.

Yes, that is exactly the reason I do not use Netflix.

I it absolutely inexcusable that my family members have access to my account, can see everything I listen too, delete my playlists and change my settings without my permission. The kids can swap to my profile and listen to whatever they want, so much for the kids mode. Not to speak that the google home system only uses my account whenever somebody asks for music, which leads to a lot of fighting when something "inappropriate" like rock music comes on.

For Netflix it's the same, I tried a few months but had to cancel after constantly getting berated from my family about how everything I watch is junk, disgusting, not fitted for a woman and what I should be watching instead.

It is crazy how some companies think people deserve no privacy and everything they do should be accessible and controlled by other people.
Scenario:

Right now I'm looking into the Deezer Family option.

We're 3 family members that have used Deezer Premium until now and would like to move into a single subscription.

The Deezer Family sounds good, but it really complicated.

We already have the accounts for a while with our own likes, preferences, etc.

And we like the idea that each one has his own account with user and password.

The Dezeer Family option uses one account and the others will just be profiles into that account and we'll have to favorite the things we like again.. and it's a bit complex when you try to set it up for people that already use Deezer Premium with their own account.

Idea:

I think it will be easier for the person that owns a Deezer Family subscription to be able to invite another Deezer account to join them on that plan. If the Deezer account is not premium an gets and invite from a Deezer Family account (and that account still has empty slots/number of people to allow on plan) they will be added to that plan and they can enjoy the premium featured directly from their own account just by being associated with the master account that has a Deezer Family (via that invite that they received).

Spotify has this for a while now https://community.spotify.com/t5/Accounts/How-to-merge-two-existing-subscriptions-with-family-subscription/td-p/966435

And you can also keep the way it is right now if you want to have profiles with age restrictions for kids.

This will fix the merge accounts issue for Deezer Family.
Hi @necroob

if you turn your account into the family account and create the other two profiles and then email support explaining which accounts you'd like to be transferred they will do this for you (including favourites and playlists etc) 🙂
This doesn't solve the issue I mentioned above.

This is a quick fix to the main issue. People like to have their own accounts and not to be tied up to another main account to login and access the music.

The idea is to have the association between accounts (account1 is Standard/Free but it's on the Dezeer Family plan of account_with_family based on the invite that they received and accepted).
Adding a PIN for switching a profile would be sufficient for me. The way it works now is not acceptable. Very disappointing first experience for me as new customer...
That would be sufficient. Great idea and a shame that this is not yet the case. At the moment each profile can mess around with the other ones - even the main account.
Please add a pin or a separate login like other streaming services! This is unbelievable!
