Our master account is mine and I've created two secondary accounts: my wife, and my daughter (6 years old).

Could we add a way to have the secondary accounts log in without needing to log into the master account? Here are the reasons:

1. I use a really complex password that my wife cannot remember.

2. My daughter is using our old Squeezebox and it only can connect to the master account and no secondary. If the secondary user could independently log in, that wouldn't be a problem. I'm guessing many more apps would act like this.

3. Sonos only allows 1 Deezer source per email address. Allowing secondary user login would circumvent this issue.

4. My Master account isn’t interested in kiddy music but because we do listen to kiddy music on Sonos and Squeezebox, the Flow will be affected by and ruin it.
"As I see this is a issue for at least Sonos devices and you write "At the moment other systems can only log in to the Master Account" so nobody implemented it or even the API can't handle it"

Exactly. What's ridiculous is that the API can't handle profiles, therefore lots of uses of your legitimate (and paid) family profile are prevented (I, for example, would use it on a Logitech Media Server / Squeezelite system, but can't, because only the master account can be used).

More ridiculously, Deezer has recently forced all the plugins for Mopidy (some of which could actually access secondary profiles) to be removed from GitHub, so the only way I had to listen to my music using my Raspberry Pi is now gone.

Deezer is a great service, but it seems like they don't really treat Deezer Family members like legitimate ones.
I agree, each user must be independent...I have a son with my ex, how do I share my details as they are linked to my Gmail account? Each user on a family account must have their own credentials
I agree with most of this. I have to log in to each device to allow the other family members to access Deezer, but there is nothing to stop any of them from switching profiles to my master account and changing the settings! There should at least be a requirement that a password is required when switching accounts, especially when switching to the master account.

Also, even though you ask for the kids' age for the kids account, the app does not make allowance for the age chosen. My 11-year-old and 8-year-old don't want to listen to toddler music (The Wiggles, High-5, etc) or Disney soundtracks. I only want to restrict them from tracks with explicit lyrics and R-rated themes. There is a big difference between a 3-year-old and a 12-year-old in what music they want to hear! Yet the app seems to apply the same restrictions to all kids accounts.
totally agree with this. I've just subscribed to Deezer family as it was the only music streaming service (other than Amazon) to allow for separate profiles. I had assumed that each profile would be pin protected or something (a major gripe I have with Netflix also). The whole point of the kids music slider is to ensure that they only listen to appropriate music, if they are fiddling about and end up listening to stuff that is really not appropriate this is not ideal. A pin code as suggested above would be perfect. Also, only the master account profile should be able to edit account settings etc, so again the master profile pin could be used for this purpose.

Please Deezer, can you do something about this asap?

cheers

+1 and also commented on the post from gps.
It just doesn't make sense that only the master can be linked to a Facebook account. When we consider that the secondary account can have their on playlists and settings, not being able to link a Facebook account seems total non-sense. Another thing is the profile login: please, implement some change that allow secondary accounts to login independently.
Thanks, saved me from purchasing the Family Plan! My family users should have fully separate accounts.
I don't mind using the same password, but what I do hate is that my secondary family account does not have the full options.

Most disliked is the fact I cannot link to Last.fm with my secondary account. Totally silly that this is not an option for family members.
Have been Deezer user for years. Problem is 4 of us want to use it, often at same times in different rooms.

Family Package is sold as the perfect solution - 6 people can all use it with separate profiles.

So I sign up, and we all get busy making our own 'flow's' and playlists.

Then we find it does not work with Sonos, and all has to go through master account. We all have Sonos speakers in different rooms, and control music with our phones.

Why was this not mentioned when selling it? Its basically a con, as it has no benefit to us whatsoever. I've checked through community sites, and it seems this has been an ongoing problem for 18 MONTHS!

Clearly there is no intention to rectify

As soon as my month is up I will be joining Spotify, as they have managed it.

Thanks for nothing
Hi @ColinG , thanks for your feedback, I will pass it to the right team.

I'm sorry if you are feeling frustrated, but Deezer is not responsible for Sonos' app, therefore we are not able to confirm if they will add Deezer Family on their app.

Our Family subscription works normally in devices like phones, computer, tablets, but we have no control over Sonos' app, I'm sorry.

Please feel free to join our Got an Idea topic and let us know your thoughts and ideas.

Thanks
Funny that. Sonos say its 100% a Deezer issue, as they can manage it with other streaming providers.

No progress in 18 months? Surely that just means you are concentrating on other things, such as signing people up and upselling subscriptions, rather than looking after existing customers
Hey Colin, what Raf meant and maybe wasn't clear is that the Deezer app on Sonos is developed by the Sonos team, not us. It's up to them to update it and implement this feature, so I'm not sure why you were told by them that this is a Deezer issue as we do not develop that app and would obviously want for it to work with Family subscriptions. It's definitely something that we are pushing for but, in the end, it's not up to us. I understand this was a let down for you as Sonos is a crucial part of your Deezer experience, If you would like a refund for the Family Subscription you paid for, please DM me and I'll arrange it for you.
Surely the way forward is for Deezer to take the same approach as Spotify and provide each family profile with a separate account. For a start, the sharing of login credentials is a terrible security practice. Rather than point the finger at Sonos, just sort your own poor approach out!

I was about to start using Deezer family but won't for this very reason!!

The sharing of login credentials is a terrible security practice. The developers clearly didn't think about the implications of this approach! Sadly they need to take the Spotify approach.

I understand that this can be frustrating and rest assured that we have and will pass this feedback on to our tech team. But as Ana and Raf mentioned, it's not in our hands and I can't promise that individual logins for Family members will be implemented in the near future. I hope that it will happen in the future, so that you too can fully enjoy our Family subscription! 🙏🏼
Family members keep logging in on my Master Account and forgetting to switch to their profile. Apparently I love Beyonce right now.... Plus Sonos is a very expensive paperweight at the moment. Seriously considering Spotify more and more... Deezer is very slow on the new features and if they copy Spotify it seems their implementation isn't well thought out.

Would love some roadmap from Deezer on which users can give feedback in advance.
Hi @Ricky Damasceno sorry for the late reply. I am slowly making some order in this forum, that is why I have moved your suggestion to this existing topic as it is related to yours.

I hope that is OK! We highly appreciate your input!
Dear parents,

many of you might have chosen Deezer because of "Deezer Kids" showing our kids only kid-friendly content.

From my point of view the implementation has a flaw. By simply switching to a non "Deezer Kids" profile, the Kids are able to listen to anything again.

I expect it would be quite easy to implement a password request for each profile switch. Our Kids would profit from this.

What do you think?
Hi So this is my suggestion that I thought about a while ago and have almost the same problem again.

Hey Toby, I moved your idea for this one where the password implementation was already suggested. Make sure to vote for it and join the conversation 😉

I moved your - edited - comment into this existing topic for that suggestion. Make sure to vote for it to be implemented and join the conversation.
Hey there, just letting you know that the thread Family Subscription "Secondary Profile" Design Failure -> Unbundle Subscription Model from Profile Handling was moved into this one, as it was the same as this as it's easier to keep track of how popular a request is if it's all in one place 😉
Hello Just created my account and switched over form Spotify for the higher res streaming, but I do not agree with having to share my username and password with all of my family members which then gives them access to the account settings and full access to changes to the account profile.

I am deciding whether or not to return to Spotify since they give the option of allowing each user to have their very own login and not interfere with other profiles. There is nothin worse than someone liking music that you don't really enjoy but the like was done in your profile. IT really screws up the flow.
Hi. Will be great if we can on family account include profile with google account and log in via google. For example, i want to add my girlfriend to account and when i include i put her gmail, and she can login via gmail or google account. Thank you 🙂
