Hi ,

The HiFi icon is visible otherwise, but it disappears all of a sudden when I start casting to my chromecast audio.

Does this mean the audio isn't HiFi anymore while casting?

I'm on deezer beta btw

I don't find it a good idea to test my ears for each track I listen to.

After conducting some tests I decided to continue with the HIFI subscription.

Now I just want to make sure that I am listening at the best quality I chose without start guessing for every track weather it's Flac or HQ.

JUST LEAVE THE SMALL ICON DOWN THERE ALL THE TIME, CASTING OR NOT.

If you have the right speakers for it, you can definitely sense the difference @Placido09 but generally, I totally get your point.

And @Placido09 is right as well @tal.v if our catalogue has the file (sent from the labels) in FLAC, Chromecast will play in that format, regardless. If the track format available is only MP3, you won't see the HiFi label on your phone or TV.

You're definitely streaming in HiFi @mdibot thanks a lot for coming here and sharing your experience with everyone!

Like I mentioned above, the label is supposed to move from your album cover on the phone and go to the album cover on the TV. If you don't have an imaging device like a TV, you wouldn't be able to see this

Sorry, but it's not the same sound quality. Just subscribed to hifi and i can hear defferences between streamer's application and deezer app. I can't understand why you can not develop the app to stream directly, like many apps. Chromecast is not working well.

Fully agree!

I've just upgrade my set up.

I replaced the chromecast audio with bluesound node 2i, huge difference!

Using the BluOs app, the HIFI icon marked clearly at all time.

Talking about bluOs, it's very limiting that users cannot use the deezer app and forced to use the BluOs app.

Spotify users can easily use their app and choose the bluesound via the amazingly easy connect feature.

Hey @tal.v @sipre

That's because we don't develop those 3rd party apps.

They're the ones who need to add HiFi streaming for the Deezer connection on their app, then reach out to Deezer and say "please activate HiFi for us"  and our developers do that in a flash.

The good news is that we're updating our integrations (during 2021) to make it easier for developers to enable HiFi on their apps :nerd:

The problem is chromecast. I use onkyo controller app for my onkyo streamer. The streamer and the onkyo controller app supports Deezer and the sound is better than deezer app because they are streaming from server directly, not via chromecast like deezer app. Sorry for my english. I hope you understand me.

Dear Rudi

How can it be that both spotify and tidal have the "connect" feature, their users can switch between destinations in a glance, and we, deezer users have to use a 3rd party app?

By the way, on  BluOs support they say it's on deezer side

Look, in the end of the day, we are just small users looking for a better listening experience.

In order to get the HIFI quality I have compromised a lot on the user interface when I moved from spotify to deezer

JUST trying to help you guys to close the gap to the other streaming services that supplying a better user interface.

Your help is super appreciated @tal.v, absolutely!

And I agree with you. The good news is that the "connect" feature is on the works at Deezer too. In 2021 this is one of our major focuses, together with improving the existing integrations as well. We're also the underdogs looking to provide you with a better listening experience!

And not streaming in HiFi can't be on our side, only. Could you please give me the details of the person in BluOS who said that? I'll share that with our devs.

Your English is great @sipre you've got a point there. But as I mentioned here to @tal.v, we're looking to free ourselves from that in 2021 - please stay tuned!

Hi Rudi

Great to hear about the "deezer connect", it's really a significant improvement. Find attached the bluesound support answer for this issue.

Thank you @tal.v the answer is inaccurate, that's only if they decide to develop on their side - but don't worry, I'll pass this on

Hi, here the same problem. I have a chromecast HDMI connected to my TV and as soon as I cast a song, the hifi badge disappears. The badge is also not visible on my TV screen. I also feel that the quality is better when I directly connect my device via a cable to my audio system instead of streaming via a Chromecast. How do I know if it’s FLAC when using the chromecast option?

Hey @Hester

Is the Deezer app up-to-date? Could you please confirm the link for the track which doesn't show the badge? I'll ask our devs about it :relaxed:

In the meantime, Happy New Year!

Hi,

I have the same problem as @Hester

When I cast to my Google TV the hifi icon doesn't appear.

My app is up-to-date and here is the link of a song: https://deezer.page.link/EvrcrRG63Dey8hk86

It' d be great to confirm, also, if Deezer cast Hifi to Chromecast audio.

Thanks in advance!

I've managed to see the badge. The issue was that I was casting to various devices simultaneously.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing @javidt

You've got your confirmation as well :relaxed:

That is not true, when using Desktop Deezer app in order to cast to Chromecast audio, the HiFi icon is visible. But when using the iPhone Deezer app to cast to Chromecast audio, no icon is displayed at all!

That isn't casting @akdmnt and the icon displayed only moves from the mobile app :relaxed:

Have you tried Chrome instead?

  1. Deezer Desktop on Chrome → Chromecast audio
  1. Deezer App on iPhone → Chromecast audio

In case 1 the HiFi icon is visible in album cover. In case 2 the HiFi icon disappears.

Yes, that's normal behaviour @akdmnt thanks so much for coming back to me!

From mobile, the icon goes from the cover to the cover in Chromecast (not audio, the one you connect to the TV). The integration on web is a bit different.

What's the Chrome version you're using?

If it’s “normal” behavior and not a bug, how do I know the audio quality while casting from Deezer iPhone app to Chromecast audio?

If we have the track on FLAC, it'll be streamed in that format, simple as that :relaxed:@akdmnt

But if you'd like confirmation, only the app can show you the label at the moment. I'll be forwarding your feedback in the meantime.

Today I got my own Bluesound Player and I just want to chime in and express that I'm also very happy and excited to read that a Spotify-Connect-like device integration is coming soon to Deezer.

The BluOS app for playback is okay, but I'd so much rather have all of Deezer's internal functions at my fingertips while choosing my music during listening.

..If it weren't for this vital "preview" info, I might have switched back from Deezer to a Spotify subscription, now that they have also announced their own "Hifi" model.

Lovely feedback @popkorn95 I'm eager to try it out too. There are some tests being made at the very first stage of this development, so I'll be able to have a feel and share with the community too. However, development will take months.

Our HiFi subscription will get a few more improvements as well - it'll be worth checking them out this year

Keep in touch with me directly and have a great weekend in the meantime!

Thanks for the update @Rudi

Glad to hear things are coming along on that feature and that even more good stuff is planned to improve on Deezer Hifi! Even if it will take a bunch of time until it's done - as all good things usually do, I believe. 😉 I just signed up for the Android App Beta, so once it goes live for testing I may provide you with some more early feedback.

To end on an even more positive note... I'd like to add some more general input from my experience as a hardcore listener that might be motivating. :) - I've been using and examining Deezer Hifi for about 4 months now, and I think I can safely say at this point that it's the only existing service that really fulfills all my distinctive listening needs. Whilst joining Deezer I also tested out several competitors like Tidal and Amazon HD. I had been fed up after already switching from Apple Music (using on Android since early 2017, transfering from only having used iPhone before) to Spotify in late 2019 and still not being satisfied.. - All of the music services I used had either one or multiple of the following issues:

- Too many software bugs

- No uniform gapless track playback

- No reliable implementation of personal file library (MP3) for conveniant access and playback anywhere

- Streaming library not broad enough (too much "relevant" music missing, judging from my taste)

- No option for Hifi streaming or not enough actual Hifi content included

...Deezer finally actually makes good on ALL of the above. Pretty much no sacrifices whatsoever from my standpoint.

And on top of that I am really glad that more of what I pay is shared with the music artists here.

Keep up said fine work and and I'm sure soon a lot more listeners with similarly intricate needs will also see the light.

Cheers and a great weekend to you also!

THANK YOU @popkorn95

Your feedback drives me forward too! :grinning:

This year we'll improve our connectivity, so that our HiFi sub is even stronger!

We're also updating our player and our integrations, so that everyone has less bugs and our apps perform better and more reliably :muscle_tone2:

And there's much more...but you'll have to stay tuned to the community and stay in touch with me to find out!
