Deezer Desktop App - does not keep me logged in and too many Captchas
For some reason the desktop app (OS 😵 doesn’t keep me logged in, so I periodically need to sign in again.
Doing so requires spending 2-3 minutes clicking on pictures of traffic lights and fire hydrants.
This is absolutely ludicrous behaviour for a *desktop* app. Honestly, the desktop app shouldn’t auto-logout at all. If you are so worried about robots, then switch to 2-factor authentication or something.

It’s stupid
Deezer implementin two-factor authentication (TFA) is the clear answer here. That would negate Captcha.
In the interim, I don’t think I get any Captcha prompts when I login with Facebook or Google authentication (I guess because they do have TFA).
Honestly, the desktop app shouldn’t auto-logout at all.
Also this. Everything in Deezer logs-out too often.
I keep getting disconnected every few days and asked to add that dumbass captcha where you need to select dumbass images. The shitties captcha possible that doesn’t even work well and you have to do it multiple times. Why? Why on earth is this added on a desktop app? What kind of a dumbass do you have to be to consider this a good idea?
It is frustrating. I hope they will solve this.
Hey @Migue@jan.potocki@teqteq@AMircea@Oguzcan Yavas! I am sorry about this, but reCAPTCHA is just a security procedure to protect your Deezer account.
I can tell you this 100% - IF I KEEP SEEING THIS GOD DAMN CAPTCHA BS, I’M OUT! CANCELLING PLAN This service doesnt’ need a Fkin useless CAPTCHA from google!!!!
REMOVE IT OR I’m CANCELLING
you’ve already failed in my book. I am cancelling already due to captcha every time I start the app or web page
Hi @fuma
We're really sorry you feel that way. At the moment, it's one of the authentication methods we use for security. Once we've got an update on an improvement, we'll let you know
I hope we understand that, until we have a better way, we're unable to remove this.
Hi again @fuma
Sorry to hear that here in this topic too. Until we have a different method of authentication, this is the tool we'll be using.
May I ask why you need to log in every time you start the app? Perhaps there's something we can do to help you with that. Let me know, would be happy to assist
What? reCAPTCHA is not authentication method. And it does not provide security. All you do is forcing paying long-time users to waste time on feeding Google’s AI.
At very least change it to noCAPTCHA method.
Stop this captcha bullshit please. On a desktop client I don’t wanna care about captchas! Just now I had to solve six(!!) captchas in a row to login on a computer I’m logging in since about a year.
Hi there @bluegrass
Sorry you've experienced difficulties. Our captcha is in place to ensure a higher level of security which could prevent spam attacks among other threats, for example - as recently happened in our communities. But we're looking into our login and security as a whole, so thanks for your feedback.
This is simply not true. reCAPTCHA on deezer is integrated WRONG and does not add any security. If security is a concern, reCAPTCHA should come before logging into account to “prevent” automated brute-force attacks. In case of Deezer reCAPTCHA comes after entering correct password, which adds nothing to security. Automated system will already detect correct password and fallback to manual mode to solve captcha (ofc, this is not even needed because bots solve captchas easily as well).
But to be honest, this is unnecessary - standard brute force attack prevention techniques (max failed logins, progressive login delay, etc...) is enough. reCAPTCHA only screws paying customers and spits in our face.
Hi @Cuzi
Thank you for your feedback. I'll be passing it on.
As a side note, just to let you know: last year we've had a big spam attack here in the community, and because users' Deezer accounts are linked to the account they use here in the community, reCAPTCHA helped preventing more fake users to be created and the attack to increase.
The truth is that we're constantly looking to implement better ways to secure our accounts - and it seems there's a problem with reCAPTCHA at the moment, as other users reported being logged out frequently. We'll keep the community updated about this
Thanks for the feedback @claw. There might be an issue with this on desktop. We'll let the teams know about it
I mean really?
Agree .
Hi @Noam Asulin@Henry Sahlgren
Thank you for your feedback. We've been seeing an increase of complaints about Recaptcha so we need to look into the reason why the app is logging users out. Thank you for your patience!

How may of the spam accounts were paying customers?
I’ve uninstalled the desktop application and am just using the web app, it’s ridiculous to have to do this almost every day.
My thought. I have a 15 caracters password which is annoying to enter when the Windows app gets logged out for some reason, but having to do the recaptcha test 10 times in a row after that is even more annoying.
I have the family subscription, and we are having some logging in issues with the desktop app:
1. My family and I keep getting randomly logged out of our accounts.
2. Several of us have also had issues where after being logged out, we repeatedly try to log back in, but Deezer tells us we have the wrong password. This continues even when we are literally copying and pasting the correct password in. Then randomly, the same password finally works.
3. When we are logged out, we are forced to complete the image identification capcha, which is STUNNINGLY slow. After each image is clicked, it takes a very long time for the next image to slowly fade in. How can I turn the capcha off?
Please let me know how to fix these issues. If these are intentional features, they are obnoxious. This is my music account, not my bank account: I do not want or need high maintenance security. I very much appreciate any answers you can provide. Thanks!
*edit wait is this a forum? Sorry if I’m sending this to the wrong place!
Same for me, it’s unacceptable as a user to have to identify all the squares containing sidewalks 7 times a week. There are other, less intrusive captcha options if this indeed is required. I’ve switched to the web app but would like to switch back to the desktop app when this issue is resolved.
Hello @haneck, this is the right place for this kind of feedback, even negative We have already communicated this issue to the responsible teams.
Thank you again and don’t hesitate to post your future feedbacks (also the positive ones) around here
Have a nice week-end
Hello @n1gth, thank you for the feedback, we have communicated it to the responsible teams at Deezer.
