I like to listen to Flow on Deezer, but a big problem is that different tracks have different volume. When I am cycling, this is very annoying, as some of my favorite songs play too quiet and all of a sudden another track is played too loud. How do I make Deezer play all songs on the same volume level. I wonder that nobody in Help topics is asking or reporting this problem?

Hi @Grzegorz Piekart

Thanks for reaching out. It's currently being tested on Beta so we're expecting to have it implemented in one of our next iOS releases - once we have a date or the exact version, we'll be letting you know :relaxed:

Hi @Antonio Ricoveri so sorry for the late reaction. Volume normalisation is now available on all devices and should fix this issue

Please click on Favourites (the small heart) » settings (the small gear wheel) » select audio settings » activate Volume normalisation

Thank you

I have tried volume normalization on Android (app version 6.1.22.49). I don’t know if it’s beneficial for people who listen to mixed playlists a lot. I listen mostly to albums, and for that, normalization still makes things worse. I’ll have to keep it disabled.

Here’s an example (which does not need normalization anyway): Album Breathe deep the dark by Destiny’s End: Track “Breathe deep the dark“ is much louder than the next one “To be immortal“ when normalization is enabled.

Super interesting feedback @gngg thanks for letting us know. I'll let the teams here know about it :thumbsup_tone2:

I guess some of the track's characteristics can affect volume too - so it isn't a feature for all tracks. Good to know. Thank you for your contribution!

Thanks, @Rudi! Here’s another observation concerning volume, but probably just my car’s fault. (It’s a 2019 Seat Leon with Beats Audio.)

I was listening to Metallica - Master of puppets (remastered, 8 tracks) via Bluetooth, with volume normalization off. Track 1 was much louder than track 2. But when I paused and resumed track 2, it got louder (approximately matching track 1).

I was not driving, so it could not be caused by the speed-dependant volume adjustment.

I checked at home, also with Bluetooth, and volume was okay. So this time probably no interesting feedback for Deezer, but I’m not sure, so I’m telling you. :-)

App version: 6.1.23.108 on Android

Hey @gngg!

Thanks again for the feedback, it's certainly very useful. Nice car by the way :sunglasses: I learned to drive on a Leon :smirk:

But Seat's are part of the VW group and our Android integration with them isn't as reliable as we hoped for. We're working towards a new Google/Android car integration to hopefully fix those issues. It'll take some time but we'll be certainly updating the community with its progress.

How do you connect your phone to the car? Do you open the app after linking it up?

Cool, thanks. Interesting, I didn’t expect that Deezer would have to target specifics of certain car sound systems.

How do you connect your phone to the car? Do you open the app after linking it up?

Not sure, actually. I mostly let Android decide which apps to stop, and the (Samsung Galaxy A3 2017) task switcher often shows lots of apps. (Often much more than 20 I think, but don’t pay much attention). So I assume this is not a list of running apps, just most recenty used. The list is also restored after reboot, which supports my assumption.

So while I often switch to Deezer after linking to the car Bluetooth, I don’t know whether that counts as opening the app after linking.

What I do close quite often is the Deezer notification. That does not remove the task switcher entry. But if that stops the app, then I have probably often started the app after linking.

That makes sense, @gngg, thanks for coming back to me. Will continue to pass your comments on :thumbsup_tone2:

As you mention specific car systems (please see more info here), I just wanted to clarify that Deezer would prefer to work on a more wide and compatible way to integrate with cars, like Android Auto. That way our users have more opportunities to integrate their cars if the tech is available on more models :muscle_tone2:

I hated Android Auto’s album list and quickly gave up on it. But if chances are that it has better volume uniformity, I should give it another chance.

Once more, thanks for sharing your experience and support our platform @gngg :v_tone2:

When streaming deezer in my van (2019 VW transporter) the volume always decreases for the following song. If I pause a song and restart the volume bumps back up. If I skip songs the volume stays at a constant however if I play an album all the way through the first song is normal volume and then all following songs are very quiet. I can turn the volume up, however if I then end up skipping a track I get deafened as it returns to original volume. I have tried altering all settings in the stereo and within deezer but nothing seems to rectify it??

Hi there @joeredhead

Thanks for getting in touch about this. I've moved your reply here so that you can check out our Volume Normalization feature. Make sure the app is updated and checked the settings to toggle it on - and let us know how it impacts your experience

Thanks, I had already tried the volume normalization setting. It seems to be the same issue as gngg mentioned, and as his car is a Seat and mine is a vw, I assume it is a problem with connecting to a the VAG system. I had tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling to make sure it is updated. I tried turning off speed dependent volume adjusting. The only thing that seems to keep volume at a constant is skipping to the next track just as the current track is about to end. If I allow it to just play through to the following track it always gets quieter.???

Hello @joeredhead, it’s indeed likely, we’re aware of issues with cars belonging to the VW group. Thanks for letting us know, we’ll forward this to our teams.

Hi, I have started using Deezer few days ago and I noticed that volume normalization on Windows 10 app (downloaded from Microsoft store) doesn't work. Some tunes are very loud compared to others. When I go to Windows Advanced Sound Configuration -> Enhancements and check "Loudness Equalization" it sounds ok. It should work the same inside Deezer but it doesn't.

Hi there @nitrooo

Thanks for reporting this to us! What version of the desktop app do you have? Have you tried reinstalling it?

Could you also let us know if this is happening to the same tracks or random ones?

I have 4.23.1. No I have not tried that. It was my first time installation. Since I have enabled "Loudness Equalization" in Win 10 I am not paying attention to this. I think it was random. Mybe it is my sound perception and it just should be more agressive. Oh and it crashes from time to time - bang - no app, no music.

Thanks for coming back @nitrooo. Please try reinstalling it so that we can cross that line in case it helps :thumbsup_tone2:

It was automatically updated to 4.24.0.0 yesterday by Microsoft Store so I will test it again. I am pretty much sure that the same problem is on my Android phone while listening via bluetooth in my car because I  turn volume up and down on my steering wheel too often. Because I use turn by turn navigation simultaneously it is so annoying. So maybe you should add options to normalize sound - soft, normal and agressive.

Good suggestion @nitrooo yes, with navigation it can be annoying. I was just hoping that our current volume normalization could work well for you too. Keep us posted and double-check the feature by toggling on and off to see if it helps :v_tone2:

I briefly enabled the Volume Normalization feature and experienced a wide variation in volume levels between songs, so disabled it pretty quickly.  It seemed to be doing the opposite of what was intended.

Though to be fair, I don’t experience wide swings in volume levels between songs even when not using the normalization feature, so I’m not really sure why it’s needed anyway.

This may be 3 years later, but the problem is not exactly solved. I have been having similar problems with volume. If i were to listen to a song, the instrumental and rhythm in the background are normal, but the vocals are very quiet. I have tried adjusting the headphone balance on my computer, but it still doesnt work.

I'm also having trouble with volume normalization. Some songs are still louder/quieter. For example, “One More Day - (Tribute to Diamond Rio)” from “Studio Allstars”, album “All American Country Volume 2”. It's way quieter than the others. But if you turn off volume normalization, it gets to the same volume as the others. This happens on Google Chrome and Android app.

And I'm getting different volume with other songs as well, just in a smaller scale.

Any news on that? I'm on Deezer trial and everything looks good except for this.

Trouble with volume normalization. Mostly using Win 10 Desktop app, and yes, re-installed it and nothing changes. This is so annoying that I’m cancelling my Deezer Premium subscription and go back to Spotify once again.

This seems to me as such a basic functionality, so annoying..
The least you could do (or even a better option) - let the users themselves adjust the volume per track manually on their playlists.
So if I have a playlist say with 20 songs, and 2 of them are playing too quietly, I could manually boost their volume to match the rest of the playlist

Nice idea, yet the basic problem is that the recording is too low. When you apply - for example - a volume boost to the track of say 125% ( to make it 25% louder ) then you will also make the background noice 25% louder. It needs more then just a MP3 Gain type of trick.
