Gapless playback between tracks

There should be no gap between tracks running into each other. This is a basic thing for the listeners experience.

Just arrived from Spotify (thanks to Rogan and Hifi audio) to be hit in the face by gaps in my dance tracks.. This thread is 4 years old.. Deezer WTH are you playing at?

I’ll stick around for my trial period then i’m off.

Yeah, same here except off Spotify after them caving in to the censorship demands. Seems like Deezer is yet another company with many “software engineers” but no few developers who can write code.

To be fair that was another big reason for me.

I tried Apple first. They have gapless but I didn't like the fact it was missing resume between devices.

Deezer has that but missing gapless is inexcusable.

Yeah, but seems like it’s more likely Apple will implement resume between devices before Deezer manages to get remote playback, gapless playback and cross faders working. My strongest contender is Apple Music, especially with the Apple One deal, since I have all their other services, and I went with their trial too. What needs to happen there is them to fix some corruption on my Library sync, where an attempt of a failed import of my old Apple Music (previously iTunes) library refuses to get deleted remotely in order for me to being able to trying it again.

This is rather pathetic in this day and age. Been subscribing for a while but am currently on a three month free trial with Amazon Music Unlimited. Their desktop app is even worse than Deezer's, but gapless playback works flawlessly. As soon as I've transferred all of my favourites across to Amazon I'm away.

Unbelievable that this is an issue when this request/complaint was made many years ago!! It seems Deezer devs and business are actually not using Deezer themselves… listening to concerts is horrible! Some others where tracks are flowing into each other… I have to use my CD (yes, I still have that too)…

What a music experience .. HiFi with gaps… 😤

So I am afraid Deezer is off the list as a Spotify replacement. Back to trying Tidal it is…

As I can not edit: this is on MacOs using USB-DAC. It seems the iOS app doesn’t have this problem, but what is the use of HiFi when streaming over an iPhone….. ???

By the way, I just tested the Spotify gapless playback with their webplayer, and it is not gapless there either, only with their desktop app. This is very likely caused by the different audio formats, AAC/MP4 on the web player, Ogg Vorbis on the desktop app. I haven’t checked with their Android app yet, but will do so today, also Deezer on Android which should be gapless, maybe only with a beta version of the app.

I just can’t believe guys!

As I don’t have a Spotify Premium account, I could not test their Android app for gapless playback, but someone else assured me it would work there.

Also I finally could check my usual test albums for gapless playback with my old Xperia smartphone today in HiFi audio quality, and they are indeed gapless as well, good to know. I’m not a beta tester, so this already works with the usual Android version, same as for iOS.

But if you use the HQ audio quality with MP3 streaming, it might still happen that you come across albums which are not gapless yet, because the Deezer MP3 catalogue has to be re-encoded for this which is probably not done yet.

So many albums especially those recorded for vinyl are effectively a single track with no gap.

Pink Floyd,

Genesis

Yes

plus many classical albums.
 etc etc

Having a gap or a pause is jarring for these albums.

This thread is old but the question still needs answering why is this not implemented yet.

I thought I had found the best music service for me. Works with google home properly, CD quality, doesn’t have the annoying jarring voice prompts which spotify has. but this is a problem

Same as many issues; the missing "Add to Queue" and "Play next" features while casting issue is also 4+ years old.

It really make me mad that I can’t switch as our family is on the family plan.

+1

I really would love to have no gap between tracks.

Not sure writing on this thread will change anything… 😓

Seriously….still no gapless playback?

Guys, no one here is listening to you. The DEEZER people don't need you. Just pay the money, the DEEER tells you, and we won’t remove any pauses, they don’t give a damn about people with thin ears

@Konstantin76

Yes, the world is bad and Deezer wants to treat you… 🙄

Come on man, they give their best all day and have built up a great service the last years. But there are so many topics on the list and manpower is very limited so that they can‘t do every feature.
Imho you have to look at the whole service and not just at one function to judge about Deezer.

I want two things from my streaming service: gapless playback and decent casting to my Chromecast devices.

Deezer does none.

And not only none: none for years, and none years to come. They even marked Chromecast support as ‘not for now’?!?

So there is a Reddit user reporting that gapless playback works for them in the web player on ChromeOS with Chrome as the browser, and @dee_dirk confirms it with Chrome on macOS, but not in the macOS desktop app. I cannot confirm it for Edge and Opera, both Chromium-based browsers, tested with Alan Parsons’ first two albums Tales of Mystery and Imagination and I Robot.

Maybe Firefox and Safari users can check this and/or other Chrome users?

Here is the Reddit link:

Other confirmations: Chrome on Windows 10 and Mac, Firefox on Windows 10 and Mac, Safari on Mac and Edge on Windows 10. I can use gapless everywhere.
The latest browser versions are installed on all computers.

Still not working in my web player, but this is due to the current global rollout of gapless playback for this feature, as has been confirmed by staff now. So it is supposed to be available to everyone in the next week. 😎

“YOU get gapless playback, and YOU get gapless playback, and YOU, too - everybody gets gapless playback!” Thank you, Oprah Winfrey.

Now please fix InSided, too, Oprah. 😥

I proved gapless playback on web app with opera and edge (chromium based) and it works, at least on Hi-Fi & HQ modes. It is better than bluestacks option and as workaround I postales as a desktop app using edge capabilities.

Right, it works fine in the web player now. It still can have gaps on old computers with e.g. only 4gb ram and very long albums with hundreds of tracks like Wagner operas, then it can happen that the gaps come up at the end of such an album.

Also another thing that might become forgotten in the web player are enabled adblockers in the browser which you do not need as a Deezer HiFi customer anyhow. They can interfer with the playback and tell you that you are offline while you are not due to trying to contact Braze.com, a customer engagement platform that Deezer uses and gets blocked by adblockers.

Works for me in Vivaldi Browser on Windows 11. Only the Windows Desktop App has no gapless playback.

Good to know. Didn’t know this and often get the offline notification. I’ll try to disable the adblocker. 👍
