I love the feature as much as you do @Thorn, you bet!
Thanks for the support, @Samppa @Thorn :bow_tone1: I've had the chance to test it already, it's super cool. About time, you think, isn't it?
@Samppa iPad and iPhone will get it the same time as Android, but this will only be for our FLAC catalogue at the beginning - I'll be explaining everything in more detail within the next couple of weeks. And I hope we can bring the feature in June - but I can't confirm a date yet :pray_tone2:

@Atko You can read in the conversations here that Deezer is soon implementing this gapless playback. Hold on tight ;) it’ll be fixed soon

Fingers crossed 🤞

No, first in the mobile apps in HiFi mode, the desktop app and probably the web player will come later.

Hi there! The gapless is coming slowly :D Awesome! already some tracks and playlists are adapted.

Feedback: I notice that some tracks are shortened too much. You get this 0,5 seconds missing sound from a track at the start. U understand? haha.

For example: ASOT 962 - A state of Trance Episode 962. In some tracks you hear some missing fractions at the start of a new track.

@Rudi  THANK YOU!

This has been a long time coming and is very much appreciated.  I just upgraded to the FLAC service to take advantage of this feature.

I look forward to seeing it roll out across other platforms. :)

Hello,

I’m using Deezer via desktop app on Windows and I find it appealing, but the gaps between tracks are so annoying, especially because almost everything I listen to, is meant to be gapless.

Until you fix this (considered to be industrial standard long before 2020), I’m forced to use other Hifi streaming service :unamused:

Hey @Vladimír H

Sorry to hear that. We get you, completely. Hang in there a bit longer, our gapless for desktop is being worked on - it's just a bit later comparing to the mobile apps :v_tone2:

Thx Rudi, I’d like to use Deezer, since I actually like your app and music portfolio better than Tidal. Just that experience listening with gaps is quite ruined tbh.. Anyway, my subscription ends in more than two weeks, so fingers crossed that you make it :)

@Vladimír H I’m looking forward to reading from you  I’m very happy about finally having the gapless on my side, so far I didn’t notice anything wrong, even the playlists with titles from various albums sound great

First of all I want to apologise for posting without having read the whole thread but it's just too long.

Anyway, I am currently in my trial period for Deezer Hi-Fi and quite baffled to see that gapless playback in still a topic in 2020.

As far as I can see gapless playback works fine in the Deezer Android app when set at “Hi-Fi quality” but there are two ways that I can use to play music on my stereo and both have problems with gapless playback:

  • Deezer client in my Onkyo A/V receiver. This is my most convenient option to stream on my stereo but the gap between tracks is horrendous. You can actually read “buffering” on the Onkyo screen before the next track begins.
  • Deezer Android app controlling a Chromecast Audio device connected to the Onkyo receiver. This configuration doesn't support gapless playback either. I want to point out that the Google Play Music app supports gapless playback over Chromecast without any issue.

So in short, I can listen to classical music or The Dark Side Of The Moon on my phone with earphones but there is no way to do so on my main audio system.

I am quite disappointed.

Hi @andyrome64

I believe that gapless on all platforms is due soon (something to do with the whole Deezer library has to be recoded, they did HiFi first but the standard files are next).  I’m waiting for it too (I use the desktop player more than anything else and don’t have HiFi subscription!).

As a follow-up to my previous post: if I understand the FLAC library supports gapless playback but the mp3 library not yet.

So even if I am a Deezer Hi-Fi user when I stream to a Chromecast device I always stream mp3 files, regardless of the type of Deezer subscription I have. There is a setting on the Android app about sound quality with Chromecast and I can set it to high fidelity but apparently it doesn't work otherwise the playback would be gapless. Am I wrong?

Hmmm…

I’m guessing when you cast it will be HiFi quality but I know casting is handled different by the device being cast to - it’s not really the control of the phone app anymore (hence why gapless won’t work).

I think this will change once gapless is rolled out to all platforms.

Hi, so I’m writing a follow up like promised.
Gapless playback on Android seems to work now fine. There were times, when playback has cut off a tiny piece of new or old track before playing the next one - transition just wasn’t smooth. Now it sounds just alright, but the question is, when will be the destop app ready? I stayed on HiFi subscription, but only because I believe you can make it work there as well.
Thanks!

Hello @Vladimír H, thanks for letting us know that it works fine. We don’t have news yet about the exact time of release of gapless on the desktop app, we’re still working on making it available for everyone on mobile. We’ll share it with you once we have more information
