Where can I find original, not remastered albums.

I find that many of the albums or tracks that I download are remastered versions. Is there a way to find the original albums that have not been remastered for lower resolution playback systems, or do the original albums not exist in Deezer’s catalogue?

Normally “remastered” only means newer and hopefully better sounding versions of the original master tapes. It does not mean another audio format though like MP3 or FLAC, you can choose which audio quality you want in the Deezer apps, and if you prefer a lower quality due to bandwidth issues with your internet connection or playback device, just set it e.g. from HiFi to HQ which stands for MP3 at 320kbps or even standard quality at 128kbps. The lowest quality for mobile users called “Basic” would be 64kbps MP3.

Sorry, but this isn't true, unfortunately, remasterd doesn't always mean better, though perhaps many people think so. Many of these remasted versions suffer from very poor dynamic range -DR- and can't be listened to. Therefore, I too would search for an original edition. You can find a comparison of DR individual albums e.g. here

@Placido09 I agree totally, however I have trouble often finding the originals rather than remastered on Deezer. Is remastered often all that Deezer offers?

Hey @BigFKahuna we usually offer what labels and independent artists provide.
If you want, you can provide a list of original albums you are looking for and I’ll ask the music team.
Thanks :)

Can we still all hand in a list of original album masters? I would ask for quite a lot…

Hey there @KrapotkeHRO

We don’t request music to labels and providers, they send it to us in the format they prefer.

But if you want to send me a list I can check the catalog and tell you if the album version is not available at all,

or if it’s available in certain countries etc…

Just know that it might take a bit of time before I can get back to you, depending on how long the list is.
