You asked and we made it! Deezer Connect is here folks!

We know this has been a long-expected feature but the waiting is over and now you
can control your music across all your devices with the Deezer app from your phone.

You can now use your iOS or Android device to control our desktop app,
Deezer web or simply another iOS or Android device.

What will be the first song you will connect to another device?
Tell me on the comments bellow!

@soakes

Sign… 👍🏻

I know that this was classified as a bug for one of the last release versions and that it worked for some users with beta.
But know it’s up to the devs to investigate if it’s a bug or not.
Hopefully one of the community managers has some more information.
I also suggest you write a support request giving detailed information about your system.
https://support.deezer.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000057869

Deezer support has acknowledged that “we have an issue with Deezer Connect| and the relevant department is working on fixing it.”

I quiver with antici…

@soakes

Could be a bug… but have you also tried what i suggested in my last post?

Android beta app and / or using a different web browser…

Yes,

  • chrome, firefox and edge makes the same
  • another system with Win 8.1 and chrome

The “fight” is as @soakes described above… and… while it “flashes”, the android app doesn’t control neither the volume

I’m going to try the android beta… I’ll make you know!
Is it the version 7.0.23.1 ?

Thank you for your effort , @Superschlumpf

I’ve made a try with the android version 7.0.23.1 (it should be the beta one)

This is my test
- It stops “fight”, but the play is broken by many stops

- with Deezer on chrome, the control is not fluid as it shoud be: as I change the song, the chrome app receive my command only after some second

- with Deezer program, it raises an error on a pink rectangle

:-(

I made a mistake and updated deezer on android and my fire tv 4k. In the result, I have the same bug with “fighting” as albesco0. For now I cannot play any music on my tv - I’m not only annoyed, I’m considering to switch my family to spotify or another service… This is not funny, we have 2023 and the users are treated as testers of the app they pay for (and the price has been raised recently).

The cherry on top is, no one from deezer is responding for the bug reports, we can chat here forever. No information whether they fix it or not. No changelogs for each version or anything

...pation!

Congratulations to Deezer on releasing Deezer Connect, a huge step forward in remote connectivity for audio playback!

I was thrilled about this "connect" feature . When I tried to control with My Android phone to Windows desktop deezer or webplayer, the only Thing what happened  was that I managed to change Song name to pc screen but it does not play it at all. When I try to connect from my Android phone to another Android phone, same happens. Phone what is  supposed to play just display the information of The track but nothing more. Next time I tried it, first it seemed to work. The track started to play but when I tried to change different song, everything started to go crazy. The track started to play but after half minutes The track started from The beginning by itself and I totally lost control to what to I was listening.

When I used my iPhone and connected that to Android phone it seemed to work like it is supposed. Every app had the latest updates.

You cannot advertise this connect" feature from Android to Android or Android to pc or Chrome webplayer If it does not work! Hopefully there will be fixes soon because I have waited for some progress for years.

Please, please fix this.

And next step hopefully is that someday users can control amplifiers from mobilephones like Spotify has been working for years, but I am not holding my breath for that to come soon. Maybe some Day, I hope.

Have you tried the software (not through the browser)?

I can confirm that it is impossible to successfully control the web app or the desktop app using an Android device.  Nor is it possible to control another Android device.

Eh?

I am doing it right now....

More information please, because I have never been able to get it to work.  What version of Deezer, what Android device, etc.

It’s good to see some action and some response to this issue.  (I have replied on other threads but I thought it would be best to bring it back to the main thread.)

I would say the issue is not fixed, but progress is being made.  When I try to control the Mac app from the Android app, I get this error:

When I try to control the browser I get a blank error message.

Then I press play on the Android and it does indeed start playing on the Mac app.  Then  I try to select another song and it either freezes up or the original song starts playing again.

OK… here is yet another update.  I upgraded both my S7 and my S21 to the latest version of Deezer (7.0.24.1), and elected to control the S7 from the S21.

At first it seemed to work properly.  I started playing “Flow”… played a couple of songs, skipped a couple, added a couple of favourites, turned the volume down… all successfully.

Then it glitched.  I’m not sure exactly what happened but it was like all of a sudden the two devices had different playlists.  The S7 started playing the first Flow song again.  I had to skip forward (with mixed success) to get back to the latest song again.

I’ll try to keep at it so I can report this behaviour in more detail… but for now I am … tentatively happy ;-)

More information please, because I have never been able to get it to work.  What version of Deezer, what Android device, etc.

I’ve simply been using an Android phone (Android 13) to Android tablet (Android 12) and vice versa.

Works a charm apart from volume control - it’s not possible to see the volume being changed unless you have the remote device tab up on the controlling device.  I have reported this to Deezer.

I’ll try some of the other software implementations and let you know 👍

Maybe app need some permission what older Android don't give even manually given. Sorry My english but I try to controll deecer from Android phone to windows desktop app and webplayer and both of them don't work.

Meanwhile I realized that my Onkyo AV receicer have Deezer feature, so I can control Onkyo controller app Deezer in Amplifier and actually don't need this crappy "connect" feature anymore.

This work perfectly for me and for those who needed "connect" feature I hope fixes soon by The company. Sorry my not so good english.

Now that I finally have remote control working nicely, I have a question.

Is there any particular reason why I can’t control my mobile device from my laptop?  It seems to me it would be a heck of a lot simpler if, from any device I have Deezer running on, that I could:

  • control what’s playing; or
  • take control

At the moment only Android and iOS devices can be used as controlling unit. Webplayer and desktop client only can be used as the controlled device. Imho it would be much more development work also to do this vice versa.

I read this whole thread. What a mess.

Thanks to guys like @soakes and  @albesco0 who stayed engaged.

Poor @Superschlumpf . All he has is an iPhone, so can't check Android. So reverts to "uninstall / reinstall" without a clue of the root cause bug.

And no one has direct connection with the developers, who probably are oblivious.

I happen to like Deezer and will continue to use it. But this was poorly launched and managed.

I read this whole thread. What a mess.

Thanks for your observation.  I have noticed similar themes in other threads.

On this topic I also launched a support request, which didn’t result in much that was any more satisfying than this thread.  The last I heard was that they acknowledged there was a problem.  N ow it has been (mostly) fixed I haven’t heard back!

@Captain_Eric1, I’m checking with our developers the cases mentioned here and I will return as soon as I got an answer to it. 🕵🏼

Take care.

Looking forward to using this feature when it works with my stuff!

I don’t yet see this feature in the simple api. I’d love to use my phone to control playback on my media center (ticket not mine).

Will there be Connect integration with Hifi streamers like Bluesound, Wiim, Cambridge, or Naim etc have? This would put Deezer on par with Tidal and Spotify.

I can't find ‘Deezer Connect’ on my phone. How do I connect my android device and windows computer?

If both devices are online and logged in to the same account, you can use the android device to control the computer.
Use the speaker symbol at the bottom left of playback screen in the android app. It shows the options for audio output.
There you will also find deezer connect.
