include

Deezer HiFi for Denon HEOS and Denon / Marantz HEOS built-in devices

Like the others I have the same issue  - play Deezer on my Denon.

Actually there are two issues:

  • I’m unable to play CD quality - limited to 320 mp3. Seriously guys, I don’t really care about CD quality on the phone - BT is not capable of reproducing it. But for years having mp3 on multi thousands dollars/euros is an insult. And no, using Chromecast is not an option because it sounds different. I seriously don’t know why since flac → lpcm supposed to be the same as playing flac localy.
  • And then comes the other issue, with Spotify app, I can simply select Heos device as target and just use the app without the need to use Heos app. And then there are all the features and convenient interface. When Deezer will have this? I can’t imagine API integration being that complicated.

Eventually, even though I liked the service features (especially Flow and local radio stations), I ended up canceling subscription because the competition is either can do high quality on devices where it matters for me  (Tidal and  Amazon) or much more convenient (Spotify).

Hopefully, one day @Rudi will post “We fixed it” ;)

Hopefully you can help me, I could not find an answer in the faq.

I have a subscription to Deezer HiFi.

I have a Marantz NA6006 network player and I stream to my audio system with Heos.

In Heos I have set my streamer for high quality (I can choose between normal and high).

The Marantz supports FLAC. Still I see that I am streaming Mp3 with 320k.

I don't understand this, what do I have to do to stream with FLAC.

Thanks in advance

Nico

Not yet @JacquesB

But I can give you news on something else that might help this process in the near future.

This year we have been working on our Public API and SDKs, so that our current and future integrations get access to this package with famous Deezer features and HiFi, straight out-of-the-box. This will help not only HEOS but all of our partners and potential partners. It's hard work so it takes a while before it's done but I'll keep the community updated with the super big projects :relaxed:

Check our homepage too, we're opening tests for our remote control feature!

Thank a lot for this info

Hey, Dmitri @Dmitri Weissman

Lovely to have you here.

I totally get your point. Fortunately, we don't want to lose more users like you! So this year it's all about connectivity.

We're working on our own "remote control" feature so that you can discover more devices through the Deezer app. On top of that, we're also collaborating with HEOS to get FLAC streamed via their app, for Deezer HiFi users :relaxed:

Did you also know we dropped the price of the subscription too? Stay tuned, this year I'll be seeing you back here!

Subscribing to this thread. It is disappointing to take so long. It’s not like Deezer hi-fi is a recent addition.

Amazon music HD sounds absolutely brilliant on my SR6013 using Heos. But I do love the Deezer interface and Flow.

Maybe I’ll have to go with both…

I just got a Marantz Cinema 70s receiver. I was surprised to see that HEOS doesn’t support Deezer Hi-Fi. Yamaha MusicCast does. Both use what we used to call DLNA. I know that Deezer is only 3% of the streaming market, but Denon and Deezer need to get this over the finish line. Until then, I will use a Chromecast device to get lossless audio to my home receiver.

Just upgraded to a Denon AVR-X2700h and I’m quite disappointed it is not possible to stream deezer hifi on it. Hoping this gets a higher priority soon.

Done!!

Information from HEOS support…

Hey @Rudi ,

Thanks for the response.

Looking forward to try those connect features (I’m on beta channel of Android app).

As for the price, it’s not an issue for me. I select the service based on:

  • Does it has the music I want.
  • Can it generate decent playlists/radio streams for me.
  • Can it play the music where I need (phone, receiver, car, computer)
  • How much the service pays the artists.

The last point is exactly why I left Play Music (now Youtube music).

@Deezer support team,

Any plan on solving the issue or company is glad to lose customers in favor of competition?

...i'm next in line as Heos device is on it's way.

Regards,

As soon as DEEZER Hifi works on HEOS I am willing to change my Premium into a HiFi subscription.

I am also willing to beta test it asap. Up to now I am patiently waiting as I am not really interested to change to a different service provider, but if I do not see this moving within the next 3 months, I may change my mind (too)!

Right now I am transfering my Deezer playlists to Tidal as I saw after the 4 months / 1 euro the subscription for HiFi AND Master is only 1 euro more than Deezer hifi. My mistake was that I read the prices in euro when they in fact were in romanian RON. Even if your curated playlist are better, I mostly made my own lists tht I don't have to rebuild once more. And the lost/missing songs are 50 from 5000. I see no reason to pay twice for the same thing. I will downgrade my subscription from Deezer hifi to free. I hope that my lists will be kept just in case you fix hifi with Heos.

Hey @dmiha

Thanks for sharing that with us here. It could be that the information their support team has is out-of-date or that their plans have changed and it's pushed back.

In any case, I'll be following this up with our teams here and sharing the screenshot you provided with them - have a nice weekend :relaxed:

Hey @SevenOf1

I completely get where you're coming from. I've been here with our community users and this is a subject I take a lot of ownership of.

I've been discussing the integration with our developers who have been in touch with HEOS to get this off the ground. I can assure you, we're now working to get this sorted.

It's a two-way project, but HEOS is getting all the support from us on the integration. I hope to have more exciting news at the beginning of 2021, so please stay tuned :v_tone2:

@Rudi @Jaime. @Johnathan.Deezer

It's been over two years now, and as a Deezer subscriber for the past decade and a recent owner of the Denon AVC-X3800H, I must express my disappointment after reading and seeing this update.

Marantz and Denon, both utilizing the Heos app and representing a significant portion of the AVR/AVC Receivers market, typically appeal to audiophiles, many of whom opt for the HIFI subscription. Not having support for this feature is a genuine letdown and has me considering a switch to one of the other services; perhaps the recently announced Spotify HIFI or Tidal.

Any news or updates on this matter would be highly appreciated!

Thanks @Rudi

I sincerely hope that their support is misinformed and that we will get Deezer HiFi through HEOS soon...  this is actually their second answer because I got pissed of by their first “automatic” answer with links to some rather irrelevant things that I did not ask so I reopened the case and then got this.

Have a nice weekend too.. :relaxed:

Sorry about it, but as we said before, it's a two-way project, but HEOS is getting all the support from us on the integration. As soon as we get more updates on it, we will let you know. 🙏🏽

Take care.

Is there anything we can do to push this with denon

Happy to hassle them on social media 😜

Hi @Petr Krenzelok no, Rudi is not a bot. He is my lovely colleague who is working from home while taking care of two little children - which can be overwhelming sometimes. We do understand your frustration regarding this integration and Rudi is trying very much to get all your voices heard by our Product managers

Hi @HurdyGurdy1 yes, Deezer would have to work a lot on Deezer HiFi for Denon HEOS. Our developers have a whole list of technical features and integrations to be worked on - as you can imagine - and unfortunately Denon HEOS is not very high on the priority list as it does not concern a large group of Deezer users worldwide. Devices that are used a lot worldwide are always at the top of that list. We are very sorry about that. Rudi is just trying very much to get all your voices heard by our Product managers so we can change that

Dear Pia, you should definitely revise your priorities at Deezer. Your HiFI users are audiophiles, thus there is a high possibility they to own Marantz or Denon, than a mainstream equipment. I am very unpleasantly surprised that you do not consider HEOS a priority of yours when it comes to Deezer HiFi.

Thank you for your support @bluezzbastardzz you're super correct.

@JakobPra if the HEOS system is HiFi, then you can definitely stream in FLAC.

At the moment, what I'm trying to sort out is streaming FLAC via the HEOS app. I've detailed a comprehensive report to our devs last week and will keep an eye on it :v_tone2:

Thanks for the reply! Even on a Sunday @bluezzbastardzz  :)

Interesting thought, that it might already stream the FLAC file but its just the display thats not updated.

@Rudi can you maybe find out that in fact it is already working and just not displaying right?

I think i can speak for all of us here that nobody cares whats displayed as long as its streaming the FLAC :). I also just checked on the DENON and no firmware update available. But if you guys are 100% certain that it should work, than we can reach out to DENON to get them to update the firmware.

In my experience, Denon/Marantz AVRs and AVPs with Heos will display the actual streaming format that they are receiving.  This is visible within the Heos app, the AVR/AVP image sent to a TV, and by hitting the status button on the AVR/AVP.

Net, Deezer is apparently not able to stream FLAC to Heos.

Qobuz, Tidal, and Amazon Music HD do stream FLAC to Heos.  I’ve tried them all and Heos displays the full FLAC resolution, up to 24 bit/192 kHz, depending on the native track resolution.  Note that Qobuz requires BubbleUPnP to work with Heos, as there is no native Qobuz support on Heos.

I’m going to quit the Deezer trial due to lack of FLAC streaming to Heos.

I’m currently also running a Tidal trial.  From a Heos integration standpoint, Tidal is the best lossless/FLAC streaming service, IMO.  However, it costs more.

EXACTLY AlenV1983 !

Just tell us the truth Rudi…

I don’t want to cast via chromecast or any other workaround methods that you may come up with. Ether fix it already or clearly state that you don’t support HEOS devices. This is getting ridiculous...

And since you are keen on suggesting alternative methods, why not send each of us a chromecast or whatever  device that we can cast to and  listen in HI-FI on in the mean time?

Hey - we’ve been only waiting for like 3 years, what’s the rush. simple solution is to start spending money on Amazon music HD . Seems their developers don’t struggle integrating this basic API.

We keep getting same excuse on this forum - it will be flagged to dev team, who obviously are asleep or couldn’t care.

I guess I will downgrade my subscription till that day comes

I did not upgrade and use Amazon Prime Music for HD, at least until that day comes.

There is an Heos App update available but nothing mentioned about Deezer Hifi, so I guess it’s still not working.

Amazon music is not supported in my country otherwise I would give it a try,,

I like the new look of HEOS..

I hope that my lists will be kept just in case you fix hifi with Heos.

Yes, downgrading to a free Deezer account does not change your saved playlists, only the audio quality is MP3 at 128kbps then, and you cannot download anything for offline mode anymore. Also you will only get 30 seconds excerpts of an on-demand song then.

Is there a time frame for Deezer HIFI Heos support?

Yes - until hell freezes over… Forget it, Deezer Hifi will never come to HeOS. I currently use NAD C658 with BluOS together with my Denon X4400H AVR to have Deezer HIFI in my living room. My next AVR will be a Yamaha (RX-A6A is on my mind). I’m done with Denon!
