include

Deezer HiFi for Denon HEOS and Denon / Marantz HEOS built-in devices

Is there a time frame for Deezer HIFI Heos support?

Rudi 3 years ago

Hey @SevenOf1

I completely get where you're coming from. I've been here with our community users and this is a subject I take a lot of ownership of.

I've been discussing the integration with our developers who have been in touch with HEOS to get this off the ground. I can assure you, we're now working to get this sorted.

It's a two-way project, but HEOS is getting all the support from us on the integration. I hope to have more exciting news at the beginning of 2021, so please stay tuned :v_tone2:

Interesting. I encourage you to contact them again, even if you have to create a new ticket, just to get the old one back from them @Lentzi they should have your email and/or other personal details.

I don't want to bring bad news but I got reply form Denon Customer Support

We currently have no plans in place for Deezer HiFi through HEOS app support.

18/11/2020

So I guess it will take much more time than expected.

Thanks for sharing here @GREM

I'll be discussing this with our devs so that they're aware. If there's something we can add to the discussion here, we'll let you know :pray_tone2:

I bought a DENON AVR-X3600X and subscribed to Deezer two months ago because of the advertised and bigly marketed adverisements of streaming lossless audio possibilities. I used to just play .flac’s from my Synology NAS, but the possibility of discovering new music in HiFi quality, made me decide to replace my perfectly OK AVR-X2300 to enter the streaming world.

However, after reading this two year desperate discussion, I know I have been cheated and mislead by hazy, half-truth marketing lies from DENON HEOS and Deezer. Up to this day the Deezer list of supported devices is of a Kindergarten quality.  A few really big pictures and some generic product families. W.t.f?  Does Deezer think people who buy +€ 1000 amp’s plus highend speakers are toddlers with smart phones?
At least I’m glad I did not pay a cent for a Deezer subscription yet and did not get fooled into a “Hifi”-subscription. I guess, I’ll be going off-line again and download the occasional quality music from Qobuz.

Hi Rudi,
Thx for replying.
I was really disappointed, and surely understand that the effort also has to come from the people at Denon. But a more specific list of supported devices would have helped and maybe I had decided to buy a Network streamer instead of replacing my existing Denon receiver with another one that was supposed to be able to play Deezer HiFi lossless.
In Deezer’s defense: One of the Denon dealers where I inquired before buying it (later at a different one) said that the AVR-X3600 would in fact support the lossless stream,  which appears to be incorrect in hind sight.
I do like the Deezer interface so far and Deezer also works nicely together/within the HEOS app, so not all bad things from my side. I really do hope you and Denon succeed in getting it sorted out.

@Rudi So we should give up the hope for a Christmas gift from HEOS :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hi @UGatDeezer @SevenOf1

Really appreciate your feedback and patience, guys. Yes, not for Xmas I suppose, but it'll get done at some point, I'm quite positive about this.

I wish I could give you more details but at this stage, I can only ask you to hang in there, tight, and it'll be worth it!

Enjoy a great end of the year!

I’m really in a similar situation as @SevenOf1. I am really long time Deezer user and been really satisfied  with it.

Few day ago I’ve finally decided & bought new amplifier/streamer (Marantz PM7000N). When waiting for it I’ve switched (and paid) my subscription from Premium to HiFi hoping to stream better quality to my new amp..

When amp arrived and I’ve been testing this I’ve found out that HiFi quality can not be streamed via Heos app and stumbled upon this 2 year frustrating discussions why, when  how..and been even more disappointed.

Well, I’ve solved the issue (hopefully temporary) by subscribing to …. Tidal.

Hopefully the Heos - Deezer HiFi issue will be solved soon as this issue of not streaming lossless with HiFi subscription is not acceptable.

@Jaco P. we are looking forward to this too and as Rudi mentioned, we hope we can have interesting updates very soon. :relaxed:

Well, like the others, I would not sell my fairly expensive 10 Heos speakers to get other equipment that is compatible with Deezer HiFi flac as long as I have alternatives. As a consequnce, I turned to Tidal that offered  hifi and master quality as a promo 4 months for 1 euro (yeah, other countries have it for 4 euro. Even if after that 4 months it costs a lot more (19.99) than Deezer hifi it may keep me as a client. I did not bought hifi equipmnet flac and dsd capable to hear only 320kbps! It's like listening mono on a stereo equipment. The only thing keeping me with Deezer are my lists , wider library, and somehow more logical track recommendations. Eventually I can live without that, so in 4 months I could cancel the subscription. If Heos can stream Tidal and Amazon(unfortunately not available in my country) flac, but not Deezer it can mean that Deezer has older systems and software and they are incapable of reaching the same agreements that Tidal has with Heos.

I stuck with Deezer HiFi for a long time whilst not getting HiFi, with constant grain of hope that this would get sorted out, but ultimately also switched to Tidal.

Just wanted to check here to see how things are progressing, but I see nothing is really happening apart from the same promises as from year ago, which is just another confirmation that switching to Tidal was indeed the best course of action I could possibly take.

I think @Rudy in sincere, but sadly Deezer as a company doesn’t seem to care much about that stuff. There’s no math behind it I suppose. We’re not big enough of a user base for them to take notice.

But there are other options in the market. Tidal is running great. Their library is as good as Deezer’s as far as I can tell. It’s just…. when you pay for HiFi, you actually get HiFi.

Hey @screaminbug @Lentzi

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I completely get your points, and although we appreciate your feedback, some things aren't as straightforward as you think. Ultimately, there are 2 important things to bear in mind. One is the fact that using the HEOS app, HiFi streaming can only be incorporated if HEOS themselves develop their bit in their app. The second is that we could add further protocols to our own app so that it can cast directly to the HEOS speakers in HiFi.

The good news is that we're finally working on both, albeit at a different pace.

We've established a good relationship with the HEOS teams and are currently working together to bring this option to their app. I mentioned above that I'm monitoring this closely. Also, as a userbase, I must disagree with you @screaminbug because HEOS users (different speakers) represent a large number of users, and that's why we're working hard on getting this done, from our side, so that HEOS has the best options to develop their app for our Deezer HiFi sub.

About adding new protocols, it'll take time, but it's also a big part of our focus for 2021, as it has been decided here at Deezer. Precisely for the same reason, of how long our dear users have been waiting for more and better connectivity options.

So my last comment on this will be, please hang in here a bit longer, stay tuned for updates and then when we're ready, please consider trying us out once more :relaxed:

I am absoluty consifering to switch to another provider if this does not improve soon.

The integration with Heos is unfortunatly just bad

I need you to hang in here a bit longer @sjgsfjll you won't regret it!

HEOS is also committed to get this over the line, stay tuned!

Well I registered with Deezer HiFi yesterday hopping to stream FLAC through HEOS to my Marantz and I find out I can’t :( Sorry guys, I’ll cancel my subscription right away and I’ll subscribe to Tidal.

No problem @smcmahon.lux we appreciate your feedback as well. Once HEOS gets our integration with HiFi as well, maybe you can give us another go

Like the others I have the same issue  - play Deezer on my Denon.

Actually there are two issues:

  • I’m unable to play CD quality - limited to 320 mp3. Seriously guys, I don’t really care about CD quality on the phone - BT is not capable of reproducing it. But for years having mp3 on multi thousands dollars/euros is an insult. And no, using Chromecast is not an option because it sounds different. I seriously don’t know why since flac → lpcm supposed to be the same as playing flac localy.
  • And then comes the other issue, with Spotify app, I can simply select Heos device as target and just use the app without the need to use Heos app. And then there are all the features and convenient interface. When Deezer will have this? I can’t imagine API integration being that complicated.

Eventually, even though I liked the service features (especially Flow and local radio stations), I ended up canceling subscription because the competition is either can do high quality on devices where it matters for me  (Tidal and  Amazon) or much more convenient (Spotify).

Hopefully, one day @Rudi will post “We fixed it” ;)

Hey, Dmitri @Dmitri Weissman

Lovely to have you here.

I totally get your point. Fortunately, we don't want to lose more users like you! So this year it's all about connectivity.

We're working on our own "remote control" feature so that you can discover more devices through the Deezer app. On top of that, we're also collaborating with HEOS to get FLAC streamed via their app, for Deezer HiFi users :relaxed:

Did you also know we dropped the price of the subscription too? Stay tuned, this year I'll be seeing you back here!

Hey @Rudi ,

Thanks for the response.

Looking forward to try those connect features (I’m on beta channel of Android app).

As for the price, it’s not an issue for me. I select the service based on:

  • Does it has the music I want.
  • Can it generate decent playlists/radio streams for me.
  • Can it play the music where I need (phone, receiver, car, computer)
  • How much the service pays the artists.

The last point is exactly why I left Play Music (now Youtube music).

As soon as DEEZER Hifi works on HEOS I am willing to change my Premium into a HiFi subscription.

I am also willing to beta test it asap. Up to now I am patiently waiting as I am not really interested to change to a different service provider, but if I do not see this moving within the next 3 months, I may change my mind (too)!

Right now I am transfering my Deezer playlists to Tidal as I saw after the 4 months / 1 euro the subscription for HiFi AND Master is only 1 euro more than Deezer hifi. My mistake was that I read the prices in euro when they in fact were in romanian RON. Even if your curated playlist are better, I mostly made my own lists tht I don't have to rebuild once more. And the lost/missing songs are 50 from 5000. I see no reason to pay twice for the same thing. I will downgrade my subscription from Deezer hifi to free. I hope that my lists will be kept just in case you fix hifi with Heos.

Really appreciate your honest feedback on this, guys @Lentzi @UGatDeezer @Dmitri Weissman I know it isn't easy to accept. You pay for HiFi and you have an expensive system just there, waiting for it.

But don't worry, I'll keep monitoring this with our devs who are working with HEOS and I hope to have good news in due course :pray_tone2:

I hope that my lists will be kept just in case you fix hifi with Heos.

Yes, downgrading to a free Deezer account does not change your saved playlists, only the audio quality is MP3 at 128kbps then, and you cannot download anything for offline mode anymore. Also you will only get 30 seconds excerpts of an on-demand song then.

Any progress whit the new Denon features?

Here in Sweden it's many Denon user's that's interested of a good hifi solution.

Thanks Robban
