Deezer app on Windows 11 - Crashes when moving between multiple monitors

I have multiple monitors (in-built laptop screen, one horizontal monitor and one vertical monitor) and I’m seeing an issue where the Deezer app crashes when I drag the Deezer window from one monitor to another.

No error message is displayed, it just closes unexpectedly.

Windows 11 Enterprise 22H2 build 22621.3155

Deezer app 6.0.80

Hi @Aaron Arrick @sosarder @ZaQ1028 Sorry to hear that the issue affects you all. But I must thank you Aaron for sharing those two files. I will share them tomorrow with the team. Can’t promise much at this point, but let’s see if this guides us in the right direction.

IF anybody else has logs or any additional information that can contribute to the resolution of this issue, we would highly appreciate the sharing.

Hello @wimheylen @smooms @ingvarr777  @jamie_mot after some more investigation, we managed to reproduce the issue if the option Aero Shake is disabled.

Can you please enable that option and give it a new try to see if the app still crash’s?

Here is how to find that setting.

Please let us know how are things going with that option ON.

Thanks for investigating this and identifying a potential cause. I enabled the Aero Shake option as suggested and tested the application again. I'll continue monitoring its behavior and report back if I experience any further crashes.

It's interesting that the issue appears to be related to this Windows setting. Hopefully this information helps narrow down the root cause and leads to a permanent fix.

Sadly the issue persists for me regardless of if this setting is on or off.

That’s great to hear! Best of luck debugging.

I’m having the same issues on my work laptop/docking stations. An inconsistent solution is to move the application slowly (I click and drag from the top bar) from screen to screen. It doesn’t work every time, but it occasionally works. I haven’t tried the Aero Shake - I believe my organization limits my administrative options on my laptop.

If moving slowly doesn’t work for me, I just try 4-5 times and it usually works by then. Playing music while moving the application does not seem to impact the success rate.

Edit: If someone could share how to get the app logs, would be happy to share those as well.

Hi. New user here.

I’m experiencing this issue as well. Dragging the app window even a little bit crashes it.
I have tried turning off and on various Windows animation settings to no avail.

I can resize the window without issue. And I can also move it using Windows Key + Arrow Key.
So it is specifically related to dragging.

The app log (C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/Deezer/logs/main.log) shows no errors or warnings related to the crash.
The only log message related to the app window is this line, I assume, on app startup:

[debug] Setting minimum size to 990 600

Deezer 7.1.230
Windows 11 Enterprise 10.0.26200

Edit: This is the only app, electron or otherwise, on my machine that does this. I have never experienced it before.

I suspect there might be some connection between Deezer and Microsoft Defender. @NosyEye , do you use Defender or Defender EDR on your computer?

That would be great to know if somebody with the issue can test it.

Thanks for the tip @jirikovoego
