New logo: Explanations đź’ś

After the announcement of the new logo and the new identity of Deezer, we took the time to read all your comments and feedback in order to address your concerns and understand your feelings

Opinions are very divided and several details were pointed out, including one that came up quite often: Why did you choose a heart đź’ś?
One comment cited “there is a more distant connection to music compared to the old logo”

The beating purple heart simply represents love and passion for music. The shapes of the logo vary to signify musical rhythms. Its movement and pulsing quality directly reflect the essence of music and the human response to the listening experience, much like a heartbeat.

Another question was “why did you decide to change everything/what is the purpose of this new identity?”

Deezer helps you “be and belong,” going beyond streaming to empower fans, artists and partners to express themselves and connect through our products and services.

Refreshing our visual identity is essential as we enter this new era for Deezer. This allows us to connect emotionally with music fans, artists and strategists through visual cues that let people know that with Deezer they can experience music, not just listen to it.

“The choice to have prioritised this change was not the best, it would have been good to strengthen the user experience rather than degrade it.”

Satisfying our users experience is indeed crucial. Development and modification choices can be complex, which means that the change itself was so significant that some bugs crept in during this transition. All have been flagged by our developers and technicians, who are already fixing these errors.

The identity change will be present in all future app updates. We hope you will adopt the new design and enjoy the new Deezer experience.

We adopt this new identity with pride, and although not everyone likes it yet, we still hope to find a place in your hearts đź’ś.

as you noticed, the new update had a big change of everything, including the text fonts

so I don't really thinked that was bad, until I saw this Fortnite horrible font (the pic one)

so, is one way to change it? or anything else to help?

Been with Deezer for over 10 year, I have to say this is the worst update i have ever seen. It is like its designed for pre school. Does not look professional at all, please stop these kids taking over our world…. :(

You did not “addressed our concerns or understand our feelings”, you just dismissed them. The logo being a heart makes NO SENSE for a music app, and most people here agree. Such a shame you’re being this way about so clear feedback.

The auto scrolling forcing to either hide or show the album art makes it more complicated to use.

That is actually the most annoying "feature" of the new Android app. I hate auto scrolling, it makes me miss what I wanted to click.

Totally agree. Is there any petition to sign to bring back previous version?..

    Completely agree.

This Fortnite font is bad imo, and the fact that songs cannot be swiped down anymore but I have to move my hand all across the screen is definitely iritating - REVERT THE CHANGES

Have to agree that the logo is awful.

When I opened my phone I thought I'd been hacked and the app taken over by fraudsters.

Once worked for a company who got voted as worst employer for their corporate Christmas card.... The award for worst logo design goes to.... Deezer.

Whoever did the design and the team behind the market testing clearly got this wrong on so many levels

I like the improvements in the apps (Android, Windows). Some features need to be fixed/restored, but those bugs happen.

I don’t mind the logo being purple. I am simply not a fan of the icon being ONLY a heart. I mentioned this in Reddit but I think something in the logo should reference what the app actually is. Make the heart wear headphones or something. A single heart looks like a dating app. Not an app related to music.

No one is really going to recognize that as an equalizer heart.

Like a lot of people I thought my Deezer app was gone on my phone yesterday. Then I thought it was a temporary change for a special event I wasn’t aware of. Googling it pointed me to this topic.

So now we have the “purple heart” as the Deezer logo, and the “classic heart” to add a song to our liked songs. Hence on the notification screen, I just want to tap on the heart icon ; but it is just the logo. I’m quite surprised an UX designer hasn’t raised this issue.

Also, the widget on my main screen looks like now a dating app (or an health monitoring one). Not sure I want to keep this on my main page now… And the app icon is not compatible with “themed icons” on Android (unlike today’s major apps).

So unfortunately not a big fan of this change :(

Perhaps there are cool updates from this new version, but this logo change hides them. That’s sad :(
