I’m still taking it in, to be candid.

I’m a huge Willie Nelson fan, one of the best concerts I've ever seen was decades ago at a tiny little theater in the round. I was literally feet away from the stage, where Willie sat alone, with nothing but Trigger and a mike.

also a big Journey fan (and Steve Perry's solo career as well). One of the best voices in rock/pop history in my opinion.

I’m just not sure about the arrangement on this, and Steve's voice is obviously significantly different. I'm going to give it some time and some more listens before rendering a verdict.

First of all, I didn't know that these two men had released a song together. I saw it by chance in the New Releases in the Deezer app.

Willie Nelson is certainly someone I know, but never really followed. But Journey and especially Steve Perry...well...that's in a class of its own. In my teenage years (80s) I came across it once and have been a Journey fan ever since. But especially the Steve Perry period. With Journey they released great albums. When Journey fell apart and Steve Perry came out with his second solo album, I was immediately sold.

I have only listened to the song we are talking about twice. I will only get a really good opinion after listening to it a few times, just like you. My first impression is that you can immediately hear that it is Steve Perry, but that his voice has lost some of its appeal over the years. But he is and remains THE Steve Perry for me.
