Linux needs a native client for Deezer!

I wanted to have a simple player for my kids to __just__ listen to music.

Well it seems “complicated” (aka Deezer doesn’t care and prefers to work on other stuff that I’ve not seen) whereas it’s super simple on Spotify

Thank you for your honest feedback. It's a real shame we're unable to provide a platform for Linux as you expected.

The main point is that such a project requires several work hours from our developers at the moment - and these hours are dedicated to introducing other features also requested by users, and obviously bug fixes. We'll be gathering more feedback about this and will discuss it again soon, but unfortunately, it's not on the plans considering our capacity at the moment. Thank you for your understanding.

Two years and nothing yet? Maybe you should hire more developers haha

I guess I am one of the many Linux users who regularly read this thread since long time. It is a little disappointing that there is no official progress on the native Deezer client for Linux systems.

Is there a roadmap / backlog or something for the Deezer developers where this topic is recorded? It would be a little more satisfying if there was at least some official information that this topic has been perceived...

I'm sorry you're disappointed about that. The development of a native Linux app isn't in our roadmap any longer. Like I mentioned here before, an initial assessment was done but we couldn't prioritise it due to the demand for other features.

At the moment our resources are limited - but all feedback will continually be forwarded to our devs about this. Thank you for your understanding at this point 

The main hold up to getting a native gnu/linux app is that you don’t have the resources to code it right?  Why don’t you take a leaf out of Spotify’s book, and make it more open source?  The gnu/linux community thrive on doing these projects for the fun of it!  The quickest way to a good clean working native app would be to involve the very community that you are currently alienating by consistently pushing the project back in favour of the ‘new’ features.  At some point, as a software company, you have to make time for this project, if only to provide the very basic of customer care. Two years and no app is not just ignoring your customers, but actively snubbing them.

Could someone not just put a wrapper around the HTML client? Or would that not be good enough? I’m thinking even the OSS community could do that? Though a future architecture with an open API would benefit all (make things a lot easier for Deezer devs to propagate Deezer too).

Yes, it was done for Windows and Mac, so we just need the time to do the same for Linux, but our devs are maxed out at the moment. It's good feedback to pass, @teqteq. It'll reinforce the idea to our product managers
