Linux needs a native client for Deezer!

I know that exist a client for Windows and Mac, but I can't to find any one for Linux. In my opinion the web version es pretty bad and the company can develop a port for their client.
I think that is important to cover all the platforms for all the users.

I recently created an Ubuntu script to install Deezer based on the fantastic work done by IlyaGulya and SibrenVasse on an AUR package for Arch Linux. It should work on Debian too since Ubuntu is based on Debian, but I haven't tested it.

You can view instructions on how to install it here https://github.com/siphomateke/deezer. It's not at all official and isn't guaranteed to work with future Deezer versions but it's what I am now using.

I'm not sure why Deezer hasn't added support for Linux yet considering the Deezer desktop app for windows is an Electron app and runs just fine on Linux with a few minor tweaks.

Hopefully this helps my fellow Ubuntu users.

Deezer is a great music service but we really need support for Linux.

Linux is becoming more and more popular for the average end user and I think there is a real need for native support.

I really hope this is something that’s coming in the future.

I’d like to make a suggestion about linux app (if it will be developed some day). It would be nice if it could be run in command-line mode without GUI. This feature may be redundant on other OS but linux users really love this kind of things.

So just to confirm, officially there is not going to be a Deezer version for at least Ubuntu right? Sad to hear, it was one of the things that I was looking forward to, to finally move away from Spotify :(

Yes, it was done for Windows and Mac, so we just need the time to do the same for Linux, but our devs are maxed out at the moment. It's good feedback to pass, @teqteq. It'll reinforce the idea to our product managers :thumbsup_tone2:

I was actually meaning - why can’t someone in the OSS community just develop and release this themselves? Something like just wrapping a WebKit browser that does nothing but goes straight to the Deezer web application? Or am I missing something? I guess maybe people are looking for some kind of native audio-engine or UI integration?

I am sad that Linux users are bypassed.
I like the service, but I also want a native client for Linux. Experience using the service through a browser is not the most convenient.

Do it please.
